I can see myself on both sides of this one. I've definitely done worse than this as a kid. I can see myself as a driver reacting the same way though....Does that make me a bad person?

Yes.

Well, not really. I would probably beat the kid up instead.

Never really saw the appeal of 'egging' or 'tping' or otherwise harassing people you don't even know. And you'd have to be some sort of stupid not to be weary of egging a moving car. I mean, the people KNOWS where it came from, if you piss them off they could very well kick you ass or shoot you (case in point). That was just stupid on his part. It's unfortunate he died and worse that the man killed him over something so trivial and ran off on top of that, but I'm having trouble coming up with much sympathy because the kid shouldn't have been egging people's cars in the first place. I mean, that could easily cause an accident and kill other people who weren't even involved.

Of course, as I always do, I'm going to blame my mind-set on living in LA. I assume everyone has a gun in their car so I piss no one off if I can help it. I mean, we had that rash of highway shootings over the spring/summer (I believe). If you assume there's danger in everything then you're less likely to get into a dangerous situation. But, hey, I'm just paranoid.

Huh? Signature? What's going on with that signature?

shooting at kids ! outrageous !
having a gun is one thing, in the car another, firing it is really bad, but shooting at young assholes like that is way above that dodgy dotted line right up there above all the other lines.

Egging cars is a few lines up as well of course, and punishment is fair, but ...

It is perfectly legal to own a gun and to transport it in a vehicle with the correct permits. Remember that America was founded on guns.

Very true. The real problem wasn't that there was a gun but that someone so irrationally angry owned one. Many people own and carry guns and never use them, especially for such trivial things.

Huh? Signature? What's going on with that signature?

I know it is. I also perfectly understand the argument that people should be allowed to arm themselves like the legal forces.

Legal systems all over the world ard crooked and crippled.

I am not saying that people shouldn't be allowed to have a gun. I am saying that legal systems are no way to measure right and wrongm though they can in many cases serve as guidance. Using a gun is definately wrong IMHO, with the notable exception being a struggle for freedom where for some reason doing a Gandhi is out of the question.

American and European laws and views are bound to go apart for different reasons, but this man was shooting unarmed kids.
It is impossible, and questionable if it were possible, to prevent all crossing of "the line"

Using a gun in this situation was wrong, true, because the kids did not have weapons and the situation wasn't at all life threatening. Like I said, the fellow has anger issues. However, the point of owning a gun isn't because you CAN but for situations like, if these kids weren't throwing eggs but grenades (yeah, it's not so ridiculous) or something else THEN it would be appropriate to protect yourself with a firearm. Hence needing to carry the gun around, since you can't predict when your life will be threatened.

The law does say that you are no allowed to shoot people unless your life is threatened, which is a pretty good scale of right and wrong in this case (you're right, though, it's not a good model of right/wrong).

There is no real judge of right and wrong, though, hence the need for laws to be made to enforce them. The man who shot the kid most likely thought it was the right thing to do, or will justify it such, even if we know/think it's not.

Huh? Signature? What's going on with that signature?

Your point is valid but remember that it is against the law to shoot someone that isn't life threatening you.

What the person did was murder. The law takes stuff like this into account.
