This is such a stupid idea. I'm sure there will be DRM and such in it.

Plus, why would I pay for a burned copy of a DVD instead of a pressed one?

Shoppers would be able to purchase movies via the kiosks and have them burned to DVD while they waited and/or downloaded directly to a mobile device. Retailers see them as a way to keep customers from fleeing to the Internet to buy movies while the movie studios hope that being able to burn a DVD or dump a title onto a mobile device will prove attractive to consumers.

Why don't they want to increase people purhcasing movies from any medium? The internet is the way to go. It is working for music.

The movie industry: We don't get technology so we will make it look like we do and charge people up the ass for our shitty content.

No thanks.

2014 is going to be a good year. More content, more streamlining. Be a part of history!

"Well, we are moving into the digital age. See? We have burning kiosks! And there is still priacy, we need more DRM. That's the solution. We can get more money from these pesky consumers and their fair use."

You know that's the plan.

But movies take up alot more space than music, and take alot longer to download because: 1, it is alot harder to compress and uncompress them. 2, they are harder to get onto their optimal playing setups (ie. DVD players) than music is (any CD player). 3, most of the cost of DVDs has little to do with the storage and production of the discs, like it does with CD's, but has more to do with features, cost of movie production and the like.

Michael: Jodie, how's my schedule look for today?
Jodie: You've got a conference and dinner party at the Japanese Embassy regarding wildlife protection.
Michael: Oh, yeah...sorry, but I'll have to cancel that. I'm heading out to save America!

As soon as the movie is done, the only cost is DVD reproduction (past the initial cost). The initial costs of most major movies have been covered by the theater release already. This is pure price fixing. None of us really can do much about it.

Its only covered by the theater runs if they actually cover the costs, which many big name movies do fail to do, however.

Yeah, current movies don't do so well because THEY SUCK. It is no surprise that movie revenue is down considering that they are forcing the same old crap down our throats for double the money.

People are just getting wise about it.

Yes. These new movies are just remakes of older, better, movies. The public is finally saying to the movie companies that we won't accept this garbage any longer.
