AT&T Enhances Mobile Broadband Coverage in Scottsdale and North Phoenix

Growing Distributed Antenna System Provides Additional Capacity to Help Enhance Wireless Experience for Scottsdale and North Phoenix Customers

PHOENIX, Sept. 13 -- As part of its continuing network investment to support growing demand for advanced mobile devices and applications, AT&T* today announced the activation of a new antenna system in the Scottsdale and North Phoenix area that will help to enhance wireless service.

Known as a Distributed Antenna System, or DAS, the installation consists of several strategically placed antennas that distribute AT&T's wireless network coverage throughout Scottsdale and North Phoenix, providing for more efficient management of wireless capacity in heavily trafficked areas. The additional capacity will help to improve call reliability, increase download speeds and enable more consistent network access to help customers make the most of their AT&T devices.

The activation of 100 new nodes, which act as small cell sites, brings the total DAS system up to 156 nodes currently enhancing signal coverage throughout Scottsdale and North Phoenix. The improved coverage is focused in the communities of Scottsdale, McDowell Mountain Ranch, Grayhawk, Troon, DC Ranch and Legend Trail in the following geographies:

--  Along North McDowell Mountain Road between Fountain Hills and Rio
Verde and extending east and west into parts of McDowell Mountain
Regional Park and Fort McDowell Yavapai Nation.
--  Between the intersection of East Thunderbird and North Scottsdale Road
      to the northwest; East Frank Lloyd Wright Boulevard to the north;
North 137th to the northeast; the intersection of East Shea Boulevard
and East Palisades Boulevard to the southeast; East Bella Vista Drive
to the south, including along the northern Salt River Pima-Maricopa
Indian Community border; and the intersection of North 70th Street and
East Mountain View Road to the southwest.
--  McDowell Mountain Ranch between East Bell Road to the north, North
155th Way to the east, East Ludlow Drive to the south, and Loop 101 to
      the west.
--  DC Ranch between East Pinnacle Peak Road to the north, North 102nd
Place to the east, East Bell Road to the south, and North Pima Road to
      the west.
--  Grayhawk between East Deer Valley Road to the north, North Pima Road
to the east, East Frank Lloyd Wright Boulevard to the south, and North
      Scottsdale Road to the west.
--  Troon between East Red Bird Road to the north, North 120th Place to
the east, East Mariposa Grande to the south, and North 116th Street to
      the west.
--  Along North Pima Road between North Las Piedras Drive and East Asher
Hills Drive and extending west to North Black Cross Road.
--  Along North Scottsdale Road between East Crimson Trail and East Asher
Hills and extending west to 66th Street and southeast to East Lone
      Mountain Road.
--  Legend Trail between East Whitewing Drive to the north, North 99th Way
to the east, North Legend Trail Parkway to the south, and North 81st
      Street to the west.

"Our goal is pretty simple: we want you to have an extraordinary experience when you make a call, check e-mail, download a song or video, or surf the Internet on your AT&T device," said Jerry Fuentes, president of AT&T Arizona-New Mexico. "As part of the greater Phoenix community, we're always looking for new opportunities to provide enhanced coverage and our investment in the local wireless network is just one way to accomplish this."

Wireless data traffic on the AT&T network has grown more than 5,000 percent over the past three years, largely attributed to the increasing popularity of advanced smartphones and the performance of AT&T's 3G network, the nation's and Phoenix's fastest.

"Arizona benefits from policies that encourage infrastructure investments," said State House Commerce Chairwoman Michele Reagan. "As legislators, we try to make decisions that enhance the lives of everyday individuals and keep our businesses competitive."

AT&T recently completed a software upgrade at 3G cell sites nationwide that prepares the nation's fastest 3G network for even faster speeds. The deployment of High-Speed Packet Access (HSPA) 7.2 technology is the first of multiple initiatives in AT&T's network enhancement strategy designed to provide customers with an enhanced mobile broadband experience, both today and in the future. Faster 3G speeds will become available this year and in 2011 on a market by market basis as AT&T combines the new technology with high-speed backhaul connections to cell sites, primarily with fiber-optic technology.

AT&T's 3G mobile broadband network is based on the 3rd Generation Partnership Project (3GPP) family of technologies that includes GSM and UMTS, the most widely used wireless network platforms in the world. AT&T has the best international coverage of any U.S. wireless provider, delivering voice service in over 220 countries and data service in more than 190 countries. AT&T also offers voice and data roaming coverage on 130 major cruise ships, as well as 3G services in 115 countries.

For more information about AT&T's 3G coverage in Phoenix or anywhere in the United States, consumers can visit http://www.wireless.att.com/coverageviewer. The online tool can measure the quality of coverage based on a street address, intersection, ZIP code or even a landmark.

Northern Virginia Technology Council Assessment Team to Begin Pro-Bono Work at Arlington National Cemetery

16 NVTC Members to Assess Business Processes and Technology to Address Burial Record Keeping Needs

HERNDON, Va., Sept. 13 -- The Northern Virginia Technology Council (NVTC) announced today that, after several productive meetings with staff at Arlington National Cemetery, it is moving forward immediately to conduct a pro-bono assessment of the Cemetery's processes and technology. Booz Allen Hamilton, SAIC and The MITRE Corporation are collaborating with thirteen other members of NVTC to conduct the assessment, which is expected to be complete within 60 days. The purpose of this initiative is to identify and develop solutions to restore America's confidence in the integrity of Arlington National Cemetery. At the conclusion of this assessment, NVTC will provide a written report to Arlington National Cemetery Executive Director Kathryn Condon and the Secretary of the Army with the findings and recommendations.

The sixteen members of the NVTC Arlington National Cemetery Task Force are: Booz Allen Hamilton, MITRE, SAIC, Blue Canopy, Consumer Electronics Association (CEA), CGI Federal, Corporation for National Research Initiatives (CNRI), CSC, The George Washington University, HP, Lee Technologies, Salient Federal Solutions, SoltecOne, Synaptitude, Unanet and Vistronix.

"The sixteen members on NVTC's assessment team bring unparalleled expertise and resources to this project," said NVTC President and CEO, Bobbie Kilberg. "We appreciate Director Condon's responsiveness and look forward to working with her and her staff in order to quickly and efficiently assess their processes and technology."

In August, the Department of the Army accepted NVTC's pro-bono offer of assistance in the assessment of Arlington's technology requirements. NVTC's offer followed a request from Senator Mark R. Warner (D-Va.), who sought a remedy to the massive record keeping problems at the Cemetery.

"It is gratifying to see this process moving forward with specific, common sense steps," said U.S. Sen. Mark R. Warner. "I appreciate the willingness of Army and Arlington National Cemetery officials to continue working in close partnership with these NVTC member companies. Fixing the problems at Arlington has to be everyone's priority, and I am pleased to see this strong partnership move forward."

The User Group will help define the roadmap for future enhancements to Imperium's  suite of data quality products.  Below are a few examples of recent customer-driven initiatives and product improvements:

fraudulent respondent behavior and individuals are assigned a

make more informed decisions about survey respondent quality and
          truthfulness.

"Over the past five years we have been on a journey to transform communications with the power of software," said Gurdeep Singh Pall, corporate vice president of Unified Communications at Microsoft. "Lync delivers on this vision by unifying enterprise voice, instant messaging and web-, audio- and videoconferencing into a new, connected communications experience."

Microsoft Lync can make every engagement a virtual face-to-face meeting, because any interaction can include video and audio conferencing, application and desktop sharing, instant messaging, and telephony. Lync has been designed from the ground up to work with Microsoft Office, SharePoint and Exchange, which helps reduce end-user adoption hurdles and increase return on investment. People can also stay connected to others on a wide range of devices while away from the office and manage their communications and calls in new ways, such as easily moving a call from a PC to a mobile device while leaving the office without disrupting the conversation.

More than 120 enterprise customers and partners are enrolled in the Microsoft Technology Adoption Program (TAP) for Lync, testing early releases and providing feedback, and over 400 unified communications partners are involved in readiness activities, preparing for general availability of the software later this year.

In addition, today more than 30 partners announced beta versions of their Lync-compatible hardware, software and service products. Hardware products include a variety of Internet protocol phones and USB endpoints optimized for Lync. Software solutions include contact centers, call recording, accounting and new applications that incorporate communications right within business processes. Routing services work with Lync to allow companies to meet United States E-911 requirements for all U.S.-based workers, regardless of location.

Product Availability

Microsoft Lync is on schedule to become generally available in 2010. In addition, Microsoft will share more about Lync Online, which will give customers the added option of a hosted solution, in the coming months.

Founded in 1975, Microsoft (NASDAQ:MSFT) is the worldwide leader in software, services and solutions that help people and businesses realize their full potential.

New Orleans Saints' Drew Brees and Visa Collaborate to Unveil Financial Football - Free, Educational Video Game

Brees Helped Create New Game and is Featured on Cover

NEW ORLEANS, Sept. 13 -- As part of an ongoing global financial literacy effort, Visa Inc. has joined with New Orleans Saints Quarterback Drew Brees to launch Financial Football 2.0, an NFL-themed educational video game. This free game has been developed with help from Brees himself, who created a variety of personal finance questions and appears on the cover.

Visa's Financial Football is a game that combines the structure and rules of the NFL with financial education questions of varying difficulty to create an innovative approach for helping children and adults learn about money management.

"It would have been great to learn more about personal finance when I was in school," said Brees, the Super Bowl XLIV MVP. "I've enjoyed working with Visa to help create and launch Financial Football, providing today's students with the opportunity to learn about the financial world in ways that were never available to me when I was younger."

The new release is available in English or Spanish and can be played online or ordered at no cost at http://www.practicalmoneyskills.com/football. Visa also released the game as a free iPhone app on iTunes, along with an optimized HD iPad version.

This engaging, fast-paced game also includes companion classroom lesson modules for teachers who want to expand and reinforce greater financial learning for students. The four modules, each designed for a standard class period, cover skills and information that are vital to students' futures.

"We share Drew Brees' deep commitment to promoting financial literacy, and we are pleased to be working with him to reinvent the Financial Football video game," said Jason Alderman, Sr. Director of Financial Education, Visa Inc. "It is critical, especially in today's challenging economic environment, that everyone have access to the tools and resources they need to make informed financial decisions."

Financial Football is the latest version of the popular financial literacy video game created by Visa and the NFL in 2005. Since then, Visa has partnered with 26 state governments to distribute free copies of Financial Football to every high school in those states.

Financial Football challenges players to answer multiple-choice money management questions correctly to advance down the field for a chance to score a touchdown. Financial Football offers single player and head-to-head game play options. This game features three difficulty levels - Rookie (ages 11-14), Pro (ages 14-18) or Hall of Fame (ages 18+). Players can select from 42 offensive plays, including running and passing options. There are also defensive opportunities so players can stop their opponents from advancing by answering a defensive question correctly.

Financial Football is part of Practical Money Skills for Life (http://www.practicalmoneyskills.com) a free, award-winning financial education program that reaches millions of people around the world each year. Launched in 1995, Practical Money Skills for Life gives educators, parents and students access to free educational resources including personal finance articles, games, lesson plans, and more.

Financial Football comes on the heels of Financial Soccer (http://www.financialsoccer.com), which was rolled out in 10 different languages in 30 countries worldwide in conjunction with the 2010 FIFA World Cup. Visa also runs What's My Score (http://www.whatsmyscore.org), a leading higher education consumer awareness program. The website guides college students through the ABCs of a FICO credit score, from factors that can lower a score to ways on improving it, at no charge.

Microsoft Unveils New LifeCam With Stunning 1080p HD Sensor: Closest Thing to Being There in Person

LifeCam Studio is the perfect HD video calling companion for Windows Live Messenger 2011.

REDMOND, Wash., Sept. 13 -- Microsoft Corp. today sets a new standard in webcams with LifeCam Studio, featuring sharp high-definition (HD) video with a true 1080p sensor(1) Microsoft's newest LifeCam is the perfect complement to Windows Live Messenger 2011, which will offer HD video calling in a 16:9 widescreen format so everyone can easily be seen in the video call with amazing detail(2). When people can't attend an important life moment in person, LifeCam Studio delivers the closest thing to being there.

  (Logo:  http://photos.prnewswire.com/prnh/20000822/MSFTLOGO
  (Logo:  http://www.newscom.com/cgi-bin/prnh/20000822/MSFTLOGO)

As Microsoft's first webcam with a 1080p sensor, LifeCam Studio delivers superior sharpness and image quality in video calls. The native 1080p sensor is more than twice as large as the 720p HD sensors on the market and lets more light in so people experience great video in virtually any lighting condition. Whether the sun is streaming in the window or the user is lit only by the light from the computer monitor, LifeCam Studio brings friends and family closer than ever before.

Better Together With Windows Live Messenger 2011

The launch of Microsoft's latest HD LifeCam comes at an exciting time for webcam users with the recent announcement that Windows Live Messenger 2011 will support HD video calling this fall.

"With Windows Live Messenger, customers can now have richer, more meaningful conversations by sharing photos, playing games and, of course, instant messaging all while video chatting in HD," said Michael Chang, group product manager, Windows Live Messenger. "We are thrilled to deliver HD widescreen video calls with Windows Live Messenger 2011, giving LifeCam users a more vivid and clear image for their video calls."

More Than Just Good Looks

In addition to a high-quality video picture, LifeCam Studio features a stunning industrial design. But it's not just about great design; every piece of this webcam serves a purpose. The new webcam is Microsoft's first to feature a tripod thread, perfect for recording long video captures from different angles -- not only in front of the monitor. LifeCam Studio also includes these features:

--  A 360-degree view range, which means that users can easily point the
camera at themselves or around the room -- no need to pick up an
entire laptop and turn it around.
--  An elongated hood modeled after a high-end camera to help protect the
lens from stray light to avoid washed-out colors.

  First-Class Technology

LifeCam Studio features premium optics, with improved Auto Focus to keep objects in focus no matter how far the distance from the LifeCam(3), and a high-precision glass element lens for superior clarity. It also includes two technologies to ensure video remains true to life in almost any environment:

--  TrueColor Technology automatically delivers bright and colorful video
in virtually any lighting condition and helps keep the most important
part of the video call -- the face -- properly exposed.
--  ClearFrame Technology helps keep video smooth and detailed even in low
      light.

  Pricing and Availability

LifeCam Studio will be available exclusively at Best Buy stores later this month for the estimated retail price of $99.95(4) and is available on BestBuy.com starting today. Microsoft backs this product with a worldwide three-year limited hardware warranty. More information about these and other Microsoft Hardware products can be found at http://www.microsoft.com/hardware.

"Before cloud-based services, companies had to take on the expense and risk of developing extensive IT networks to manage and access remotely located devices. Those costs add up quickly, from initial capital equipment purchase and installation prices to ongoing maintenance, labor, facility space, and operational expenses, and the process could literally take months, even years," explains Arlen Nipper, CTO of Eurotech in North America. "Eurotech delivers network connectivity, data security, and system reliability through the Isidorey device cloud offering, simplifying the connectivity equation for our customers."

"By combining Eurotech's hardware platforms and software framework with Isidorey's device cloud, we can deliver an integrated cloud-based solution for data management," says Kyle Roche, CEO of Isidorey. "This solution gives customers a new, quick to market option for device data management that they cannot find anywhere else."

National Instruments Introduces High-Density Switching Solutions to Streamline Automated Test

New NI SwitchBlock and NI Switch Executive Software Deliver Expandable PXI Solution for High-Density Matrix Switching

AUSTIN, Texas, Sept. 13, 2010 -- National Instruments (NASDAQ:NATI) today introduced the NI SwitchBlock for PXI, a high-density switching solution featuring an innovative architecture that simplifies connectivity through internal column expansion. Designed specifically for demanding automated test systems with large numbers of channels, the NI SwitchBlock integrates with NI Switch Executive switch management software to provide a streamlined, intuitive option for switch configuration, routing, programming and maintenance.

The NI SwitchBlock comprises an expandable carrier that occupies four PXI slots and accommodates up to six relay cards. Engineers can use the carrier's integrated high-voltage analog bus to internally expand the relay cards into large matrices, with more than 2,000 crosspoints in a single carrier. They can further expand these matrices with an NI SwitchBlock expansion bridge, which extends a carrier's analog bus to additional carriers. Engineers can combine up to four NI SwitchBlock carriers to create internally routed matrices with as many as 8,832 crosspoints in a single PXI chassis. Because of this innovative hardware architecture, the NI SwitchBlock can integrate with other PXI instruments and I/O for use as the core of large-scale automated test systems.

With NI Switch Executive software, engineers can graphically configure their switch systems one relay at a time for total control, or automatically route signals across multiple relay cards simply by specifying endpoints. This high level of abstraction helps engineers to quickly and efficiently begin developing their application. By combining NI Switch Executive with NI LabVIEW graphical system development software, engineers can abstract numerous route groups to easily configure, program and maintain large matrix configurations. The NI SwitchBlock also includes the new NI Switch Health Center software, which increases long-term system reliability by automatically running onboard diagnostics that verify relay continuity and display relay count information.

Additionally, engineers can combine the NI SwitchBlock with mass interconnect solutions from MAC Panel and Virginia Panel, which provide a single rugged connection point between multiple NI SwitchBlock connectors and a test fixture. This further simplifies wiring for large matrix configurations and helps engineers streamline hardware integration and reduce test setup time.

The NI SwitchBlock offers multiple relay card options, including a growing selection of topologies and relay types to address a variety of large-matrix test needs. Engineers can custom configure the NI SwitchBlock with different relay cards in a single carrier to create a configuration that best meets their requirements. To help engineers find the most efficient NI SwitchBlock configuration for their specific application, NI has created an online advisor tool that guides them through the relay card selection process and adds the correct number of carriers and expansion bridges to meet their application requirements.

To learn more about the NI SwitchBlock, readers can visit http://www.ni.com/switchblock.

About National Instruments

IPNETZONE Launches the First Global MPLS Exchange Platform (MEP)

IPNETZONE Launches the First Global MPLS Exchange Platform (MEP)

NEW YORK, Sept. 13 -- IPNETZONE COMMUNICATIONS today announced the launch of the world's first global MPLS Exchange Platform (MEP), a series of interconnection points allowing for the construction of Multiprotocol Label Switching (MPLS) networks across multiple carriers, thus enabling seamless and immediate connectivity to global markets and facilities.

"Amid today's economic recovery, enterprise IT departments are leaner and making more strategic investments in Information Technology and Communications (ITC) services.  They are demanding more from their telecommunications carriers for less; they want the carrier to service all their needs, not just the physical locations that are 'on-net.'  This need forces service providers to expand their network coverage in ways that can oftentimes pose significant financial or market risks," stated Joon Shin, President and CEO of IPNETZONE. "In addition, the ever-pressing growth of mission critical applications causes carriers to expand and/or upgrade their networks merely to stay competitive.  Responding to these network demands proves extremely costly and is still perceived as inadequate often resulting in carriers losing both capital as well as market share."

In an effort to limit technical and financial obstacles caused by carriers' most ubiquitous problem, lack of coverage, IPNETZONE has introduced the MEP and an option to implement Extended Virtual Wide Area Network (evWAN), for carrier customers who prefer fully transparent Layer 2 Ethernet services, where both services are offered over a single IPNETZONE Enhanced Ethernet Network to Network Interface (eeNNI).   Service providers can now have access to multiple MPLS networks globally and experience MPLS the way it was originally intended - as a carrier to carrier service. By leveraging the carrier facilities on the MEP, carriers and service providers of all types can dramatically increase revenue opportunity and productivity while vastly reducing interconnection costs, operating expenses and time to market.

IPNETZONE carrier customers can connect to the MEP within any metro, regional or global point of presence.  Once on the MEP, carriers can choose to purchase a number of different Last Mile access methods including native Ethernet, Ethernet over Copper, TDM, EoTDM, EoSonet and speeds ranging from 1Mb to 10Gb.

In addition to IPNETZONE's plans to make interconnections, even through some of the major Carrier Ethernet Exchanges, their approach offers carrier and service provider customers, of all sizes, the ability to quickly implement robust, end-to-end MPLS and Layer 2 interconnectivity solutions at-scale with minimum up-front investment and the ability to monetize the emerging MPLS interconnect model, thereby increasing profitability and reducing financial and operational risks.

3M Deal and Privacy Case 'Punt' Show the Promise and Complexity of Spatial Technology, Attorney Says

3M Deal and Privacy Case 'Punt' Show the Promise and Complexity of Spatial Technology, Attorney Says

-Sector grows quickly amid privacy, liability and security concerns, notes LeClairRyan attorney

RICHMOND, VA., Sept. 13 -- The Third Circuit Court of Appeals' inability to make a clear-cut decision in a privacy case involving the location data of telecommunications customers points to the murkiness of the emerging privacy, liability and national-security concerns linked to geo-location devices and applications, said LeClairRyan's Kevin D. Pomfret, an attorney whose practice focuses on the rapidly developing fields of spatial law and technology.

"Forward-looking businesses are placing their bets on the long-term growth and evolution of location-based technologies, as 3M Co.'s $230 million acquisition of a people-tracking firm earlier this month amply illustrates," noted Pomfret, a Richmond-based partner in LeClairRyan and executive director of the Centre for Spatial Law and Policy. "In the United States, however, we are only beginning to discuss what a reasonable expectation of privacy actually means from a spatial technology standpoint. And that means companies that invest in and make use of this technology will, for the time being, be forced to operate in an environment that is rife with uncertainty."

Unfortunately, in its Sept. 8 ruling, the Third Circuit Court of Appeals missed an important opportunity to bring some clarification on these matters, the attorney noted. "The court ruled that a judge may, but is not required to, ask law enforcement to show probable cause for a warrant before asking a telecommunications company to turn over historical location data on its customers," he explained. "This was a non-decision that, in effect, punted on a very important geo-location privacy case. It provided little help to lower-court judges, law enforcement or the growing number of companies that are collecting this information on a regular basis."

Indeed, companies continue to bet on the long-term growth of spatial technology. Most people associate the name 3M, for example, with prosaic fixtures of the office environment like Post It notes or Scotch Tape. But with its Sept. 1 announcement that it was acquiring the Israeli firm Attenti Holdings SA--which makes people-tracking ankle bracelets and other devices--3M became yet another major investor in spatial technology, Pomfret noted.

Ultimately, the attorney said, this trend will encompass much more than GPS-enabled social-networking tools like Facebook Places or FourSquare, or visualization and navigation-related services such as Google Earth or MapQuest. And yet, even relatively early entries like these have already been dogged by questions. "Within hours of its launch, Facebook Places drew loud criticism for its alleged failure to deal with privacy concerns," Pomfret noted, "and Google's geo-location tools also have also drawn plenty of criticism."

Residents of Long Island, N.Y., accused government agencies of acting like "Big Brother" by using Google Earth to find illegally constructed swimming pools in people's backyards, and officials in Germany are now considering a crackdown on Google Street View, which allows users of Google Maps to, as Google puts it, zoom "all the way in [until] you find yourself virtually standing on the street."

These examples illustrate how societies across the globe are now grappling with the impact of location-based technologies, said Pomfret, who writes about these issues on his blog, Spatial Law and Policy (http://www.spatiallaw.blogspot.com/). "As these technologies become more ubiquitous, the complexity of the questions associated with them is only going to increase," he noted. "Software is already on the drawing board that will allow people to predict where you are likely to go in the future based upon where you have been in the past. In terms of both privacy law and liability this is uncharted territory."

And in a world where, in minutes, an iPhone user can capture a video, broadcast it on YouTube, notify friends about the video on Facebook and Twitter--and even post a link to a GPS-enabled digital map of the site where the video was shot--the national security implications are obvious, Pomfret said. "You can bet that intelligence agencies across the globe are closely looking at these issues," he said.

While the aforementioned "punt" by the Third Circuit was of little help, it is clear that legislatures and courts will have much to say on spatial technology, Pomfret said. In July, U.S. Rep. Bobby L. Rush introduced the first broad-based privacy-protection bill that would regulate the collection, use and distribution of consumers' location-based data. This does not mean the geo-location trend will be shaped by the law alone. "Craigslist's recent decision to pull its adults-only section reveals the central role that public opinion can and will play," Pomfret said. "That decision does not appear to have been prompted by any direct legal action. Rather, it came after increased media reports on the use of this sub-section for prostitution and human trafficking."

Spatial technology firms and users will continue to face similar pressure, he added. "In response to the public outrage, the building department of Riverhead, N.Y., pledged to stop using Google Earth to hunt for illegal swimming pools, though it had the legal right to continue to do so," Pomfret said. "It certainly behooves companies to consider not just what state and federal courts have said or are likely to say, but also how these issues might play out in the court of public opinion."

Not since the debut of "Star Wars: Episode I" have fans been so excited to revisit a beloved franchise. Recently dubbed "a pop culture phenomenon" by Variety magazine and hailed as the No. 1 game series of all time,(1) the "Halo" franchise will once again make history with the launch of "Halo: Reach," which goes on sale at 12:01 a.m. Sept. 14 in more than 25 countries.

"When it comes to the size and scope of a franchise and especially the dedication of the fans, no game is bigger than 'Halo,'" said Phil Spencer, corporate vice president of Microsoft Game Studios at Microsoft Corp. "With 'Halo: Reach,' we're delivering on our promise to redefine blockbuster entertainment experiences and ultimately help make this year the biggest ever in Xbox history."

To celebrate the launch, tens of thousands of retailers around the world are opening their doors at midnight exclusively to sell copies of "Halo: Reach," as well as "Halo: Reach" Xbox 360 consoles and accessories. Special marquee launch events are taking place in major cities around the world, including New York, further adding to the fervor surrounding the highly anticipated video game, which is expected to top all previous entertainment launches this year.

"Halo" fans in New York will be treated to a special performance by hip-hop star Kid Cudi at the new Best Buy Theater in Times Square. The New York launch event will be broadcast live in HD on Spike TV beginning at 11:33 p.m. EDT, and it will also air live on the Times Square MTV billboard.

"The launch of 'Halo: Reach' will likely rival some of the biggest entertainment launches of the year," said Chris Homeister, senior vice president and general manager of the home entertainment group at Best Buy. "What better way to celebrate this highly anticipated game than to partner with Microsoft and host the marquee event at the new Best Buy Theater in Times Square?"

"Halo: Reach" tells the tragic and heroic story of Noble Team, a group of Spartans, who through great sacrifice and courage, saved countless lives in the face of impossible odds. The planet Reach is humanity's last line of defense between the encroaching Covenant and their ultimate goal, the destruction of Earth. If it falls, humanity will be perched on the brink of destruction.

Published by Microsoft Game Studios, the "Halo" franchise of games is exclusive to the Xbox 360 video game and entertainment system and the Xbox LIVE online entertainment network. The "Halo" franchise is an award-winning collection of properties that has grown into a global entertainment phenomenon. Reynolds and Reynolds Delivers New, Advanced Tool to Help Dealers Manage Online Specials on Dealership Websites

Telephone Call Tracking Option Also Added to Help Dealers More Accurately Measure Value of Their Websites in Generating Sales Leads

DAYTON, Ohio, Sept. 13 -- The Reynolds and Reynolds Company today announced the development of a new, advanced Specials Administration tool that can be used by dealership personnel to manage online specials on dealership websites from Reynolds Web Solutions.

"The 'Specials' page on a dealership website is the second most-visited page by consumers," said Trey Hiers, vice president, Corporate Marketing, for Reynolds. "Dealers recognize that it's critical to keep this page fresh and up-to-date in order to present consumers with the most attractive and current offers available at the dealership. With the enhancements we've made to the Specials Administration tool, we're enabling dealers to make changes to their online specials page faster, easier, and more conveniently than ever before. This frees dealership personnel to focus more on the customers who want to take advantage of those specials."

The first phase of the newly released Specials Administration tool offers an improved look-and-feel for more intuitive use, plus added usability features for dealer personnel.

Call Tracking on Dealer Websites

Dealers with websites from Reynolds now can opt to display a unique toll-free number on their websites - at no charge to the dealer - to help capture which calls were placed by consumers to the dealership after browsing the dealer's website. The call-tracking numbers are provided by Callbright, a leader in web-based call management systems to enhance customer relationships and streamline advertising efforts.

"In our experience, for every consumer lead that comes in from a Web form on the dealership's website, the dealer receives approximately three to four telephone calls from consumers," said Hiers. "Now, with the addition of a free Callbright call-tracking number on the dealer's website, the dealer will be able to know specifically the number of phone calls generated by their site and more accurately measure the value they are getting from their online presence."

Hiers concluded, "Over the past 18 months, we have delivered a steady stream of improvements in our dealership websites, as well as in the tools dealers use to manage their sites. All of these enhancements have a single goal - to help dealers attract more customers to their products and services to increase a dealership's overall sales and profitability."

Alcatel-Lucent Enables the Deployment of 1Gbps Access Networks Across Three Continents

Enlarging its GPON ONT portfolio to meet customers' needs for Gigabit broadband and operational efficiencies

LAS VEGAS, Sept. 13 -- FTTH Council North America -- Alcatel-Lucent (Euronext Paris and NYSE: ALU) today announces that its gigabit passive optical network (GPON) product portfolio is a driving force behind the world's first commercial 1Gbps access networks - enabling service providers across Asia, Europe and North America to deliver to residential and business customers broadband access speeds that revolutionize the way people live and work. Determined to continue to lead this effort, Alcatel-Lucent today enlarges its portfolio of GPON-based optical network terminals (ONTs) with five new models - supporting the delivery of 1Gbps services.

Having access to 1Gbps broadband - at home or in the office - is no longer a distant future. With bandwidth requirements growing at an average rate of 20% per year, service providers around the world have not only started to prepare their networks for the delivery of the next generation of fixed broadband services, but are actually commercially offering 1Gbps to their customers already. Innovators in this domain - all powered by Alcatel-Lucent's GPON equipment - include EPB in Chattanooga, Tenn (U.S.), Hong Kong Broadband Network Ltd and ZON Multimedia [Portugal]).

Alcatel-Lucent's enlarged GPON ONT portfolio includes additional 1Gbps-capable ONTs, enabling service providers to rapidly boost network speeds (up to 1Gbps) as their customers' appetite for higher-bandwidth services increases. Alcatel-Lucent's latest ONT models include, amongst others, an HPNA ONT, a 'mini' ONT and an MDU ONT -

--  The Home Phoneline Networking Alliance (HPNA)-certified ONT supports
the delivery of 1Gbps broadband through two gigabit Ethernet ports,
and significantly speeds up fiber-to-the-home installation times
because the existing home wiring (coax) can be re-used, rather than
having to run new CAT5 Ethernet wires.
--  The 'mini' ONT is slightly larger than a matchbox, and - as such - one
of the smallest ONTs in the marketplace.
--  The multi-dwelling unit (MDU) ONT is unique because it has 16 VDSL2
ports - making it the ideal solution for fiber deployments in existing
MDUs, where re-using the existing in-building copper is often the
quickest and most cost-effective approach to deliver very high
      bandwidths to end-users.

"With our recent introduction of the 1 gigabit per second product, Chattanooga residents - both urban and rural - have access to Internet speeds over 200 times the national average," says David Wade, Executive Vice President and COO of EPB in Chattanooga, Tennessee.  "This is the fastest Internet offer to a city in the U.S. and Alcatel-Lucent, through their expertise and incredible technology like the HPNA-ONT, has been an important partner in making this advancement a reality."

"Alcatel-Lucent continues to encourage the adoption of fiber-to-the-home with solutions that are tuned to the specific needs of every individual service provider - be it 'traditional' telcos, utilities, municipalities and even cable operators," says Dave Geary, heading Alcatel-Lucent's wireline activities. "For this, we continue to expand what is already the largest GPON ONT portfolio in the industry - to meet our customers' aggressive go-to-market objectives, and supporting the world's first commercial 1Gbps service offerings."

Alcatel-Lucent is the worldwide leader in fixed broadband access, supporting the largest mass deployments of video, voice and data services. Today, one out of three fixed broadband subscribers around the world is served through an access network provided by Alcatel-Lucent. Alcatel-Lucent is currently involved in over 100 FTTH projects worldwide, more than 85 of which are with GPON.

National Semiconductor Launches New WEBENCH FPGA Power Architect

New Tool Accelerates Design of Multiple Load Power Supplies for Altera, Xilinx FPGAs

SANTA CLARA, Calif., Sept. 13 -- National Semiconductor Corp. (NYSE:NSM) today introduced WEBENCH® FPGA Power Architect, the industry's first design tool to model and optimize power supplies for FPGAs in minutes.

WEBENCH FPGA Power Architect incorporates the detailed supply requirements of more than 130 of the newest FPGA devices from Altera Corp. and Xilinx, Inc. Modern power supply systems, including advanced FPGAs, are complex to design, often incorporating multiple unique loads to drive precisely specified voltages.  In addition to the required voltages and currents, each load may have specific limitations for ripple, noise filtering, synchronization and separation of supplies, as well as start up definitions (soft start).  The power supply designs delivered by WEBENCH incorporate comprehensive power requirements published by the FPGA manufacturers, giving the designer confidence that their power supplies will meet these constraints while saving critical time in the process.  Watch a video demonstration at http://bit.ly/videoFPGA.

"Xilinx has made a considerable investment in simplifying the power supply requirements and the power distribution system requirements for our FPGAs," said Jameel Hussein, technical marketing manager for Power and Configuration Solutions at Xilinx. "With the help of National Semiconductor's WEBENCH FPGA Power Architect, design workload is further reduced to allow the customer to get to market faster and save cost on board-spins and debugging."

To begin a design, the designer selects an advanced FPGA from Altera or Xilinx and the tool automatically populates the unique power requirements, identifying core and I/O options for every potential load of that array.  Once tuned by the designer, WEBENCH collects all the loads and creates multiple power supply architectures as options for driving the FPGA and the total system.

"A real system always includes much more than just the FPGA.  We are making it easy for designers to quickly model their complete system power needs and include the unique requirements of their FPGA with confidence," said Phil Gibson, vice president of Technical Sales Tools at National Semiconductor.  "We are helping them avoid mistakes and save countless hours of research and development time."

The power supply may involve one or more intermediate voltage rails between the input supply and the point-of-load regulators.  The designer can tune the recommended power supply with the turn of a dial, reducing size, increasing efficiency or lowering complete system cost in seconds.  The designer can also order components for prototyping, share the complete system with others, or easily print a complete project report including schematics, bill of materials (BOM) and performance characteristics.

AddressBookONE Unites Scattered Contact Data from LinkedIn, Plaxo, Gmail, Facebook and More

Toffa International's newest cloud-based synchronization solution is launched

WOLVERHAMPTON, England, Sept. 13 -- From Facebook to Twitter, Plaxo to LinkedIn, there is no shortage of tech-smart solutions for greater access to important contacts. However, despite such technology solving various problems, many others can be created in the process. With contact information spread out across phones, PDAs, numerous networking websites, desktop software programs and more, accessing contacts can be a daunting task. To simplify the task and harness the power of networking technologies, Toffa International (http://www.toffa.com/), a global leader in synchronization solutions, has developed AddressBookONE (http://www.addressbookone.com/). This new, cloud-based solution unites scattered contact and networking data into one simple, clean interface.

"Demand from pre-registered users has been very strong and shows people are eager to get their hands on AddressBookONE," says Chris Jukes, Toffa's CEO. "We are now ready to launch what we believe could completely change how business professionals and even families access contacts. It's a contact portal that brings together the people in your day-to-day life, all in one place."

AddressBookONE pulls information from multiple sources including Gmail, Exchange, LinkedIn, Facebook, Twitter, Yahoo, GroupWise and Plaxo, among others, overlaying the data from each resource to provide a comprehensive view of each contacts data. Upgrading to a Premium account allows you to synchronize your mobile phone to AddressBookONE, enabling you to manage your phone contacts alongside all other contact data as well as offering a full backup and restore.

Typically a contact may display an email address from Gmail, a phone number from a mobile phone, an organization from LinkedIn, a postal address from Plaxo and a photo from Facebook.

"The buzz about AddressBookONE is that it's intelligent, yet not intimidating," Jukes says. "Users can configure personal preferences and menu options, and we offer smart context-sensitive menus as well. With AddressBookONE, you receive an experience that's user-friendly and relevant, too."

AddressBookONE is due for release September 13, 2010. For more information, visit http://www.addressbookone.com/.

Numerex Introduces AccelaView(TM)

New telematics service offers comprehensive vehicle intelligence

ATLANTA, Sept. 13 -- Numerex Corp. (NASDAQ:NMRX), a leading single source provider of secure machine-to-machine (M2M) products and services, today unveiled its AccelaView(TM) application to meet the core needs of the insurance industry and other customers. This scalable and customizable telematics platform enables customers to build their own vehicle monitoring programs.

Combining wireless technology with an easy-to-use device, AccelaView enables the design of customized programs to assess driver risk through Numerex FAST(TM), an Open Platform as a Service built for scalable data requirements. With the use of telematics, a wide range of businesses from fleet owners to insurance companies can accurately capture meaningful information from a vehicle to determine driving patterns.

"Based on customer feedback, Numerex proactively developed AccelaView to improve its customers' telematics applications by adding intelligence capabilities to basic tracking," said Stratton Nicolaides, chairman and CEO of Numerex. "This application not only provides a more dynamic way of offering programs for safe drivers, but also taps into the growing demand of 'green' initiatives."

Key features of the AccelaView application include:

--  A driver scorecard based on weighted scoring of such factors as
excessive speed, acceleration, deceleration, nighttime driving, miles
      driven and total driving time;
--  Tracking capabilities for the end-user to track vehicle location
anywhere and anytime, if a GPS-enabled device is being used; and
--  Customizable settings to send real-time alerts of vehicle status to
      end-users.

In addition to providing the software application, Numerex will assist insurance clients and others with fulfilling the device; selecting the wireless network; and integrating the Numerex FAST application to clients' existing enterprise systems for seamless automation and scaling of the program.

According to the recent ABI Research Cellular M2M Markets Report, traction is increasing for offerings linked to driver characteristics. "Telematics has the potential to be a game changer for consumers becoming increasingly aware of the safety and environmental benefits," said Dominique Bonte, practice director of telematics and navigation at ABI Research. "Not only do programs linked to actual driver behavior offered by insurance companies reward mindful, fuel-conscious drivers with low premiums, but regulators like the 'green' aspect of usage-based insurance products helping reduce emissions, which is quickly becoming a popular feature among drivers in general."

The AccelaView application will be featured at the Insurance Telematics 2010 conference and exhibition in Chicago from Sep. 13-14, 2010, where Rick Burtner, SVP of Numerex and GM of its LBS Group will be participating in a panel discussion around new technologies for the insurance industry. For more information about AccelaView please visit the Numerex booth (#14) at Insurance Telematics 2010.
