Honda Evolves In-Car Connectivity with New Display Audio Touch-Screen Interface and Next Generation HondaLink(TM) Technology
-- Advanced connected-car technology debuts in 2014 Honda Civic, followed by 2015 Fit
-- Display Audio touchscreen brings smartphone-like functionality inside the vehicle
-- Next gen HondaLink(TM) makes integrated navigation more affordable and intuitive with smartphone-powered navigation app
-- 2014 Civic with Display Audio first Honda model with factory installed Siri(TM) Eyes Free mode from Apple
TORRANCE, Calif., Dec. 3, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Honda today introduced the next generation of connected-car technology to meet the evolving needs of today's tech-savvy, always-connected consumers: Honda Display Audio and HondaLink(TM). Together these technologies represent the most advanced information and media connectivity package ever offered by Honda. Both new systems were demonstrated earlier today on a Google Hangout available to view on Honda's Google+ page (https://plus.google.com/+Honda/posts) and will debut on the 2014 Civic, which goes on-sale tomorrow.
Additionally, the 2014 Civic equipped with Display Audio marks Honda's first factory installed integration of Apple's Siri Eyes Free mode with Siri operation available directly through the steering wheel-mounted controls when a compatible iPhone is paired via Bluetooth(®).
"Display Audio and HondaLink are pioneering technologies that seamlessly and intuitively integrate the power and functionality of a customers' smartphone directly into their vehicle," said Charles Koch, manager of new business development for American Honda. "Staying connected to the latest music, information, news, traffic updates, even friends and family, is a must-have capability for a new generation of car buyers."
The new Display Audio interface(1) debuts on the 2014 Civic (EX models and above) and will be featured on the all-new 2015 Fit, arriving next spring. Offering one of the largest touchscreens in its class, Display Audio uses the familiar pinch, swipe and tap functionality of a smartphone to access audio, phonebook, media, vehicle information and available navigation features.
Icons resembling smartphone apps are displayed on a 7-inch, high-definition, capacitive touchscreen, making the interface intuitive and easy to use. Standard internet-sourced music and media options, such as Pandora(®) are built into the Display Audio interface, with the ability to create personalized stations, tap to "like" songs, and view album artwork directly from the touchscreen. Display Audio also integrates touch operation of the volume (with a quick-swipe adjustment), menu, and return functions for a modern and sleek look. Standard steering wheel controls compliment the touchscreen features as well.
Next Generation HondaLink((TM) )
The Display Audio system with next generation HondaLink allows the customer's digital lifestyle to seamlessly integrate with the car and provides access to a world of cloud-based information. The all-new application-based platform connects customers to online content both inside and outside the car, all powered by their smartphones. At launch timing, iPhone 5, 5S and 5C will benefit from all the features HondaLink offers. Compatible Android smartphone's are anticipated to become available next year.
Four specialty HondaLink apps provide organization and are a gateway to additional online content:
-- Connect App - Provides convenient access for many services including
location searches, local weather, messaging, Maintenance Minder alerts,
service scheduling by phone, and access to the Owners Guide. Users can
tap for weather updates and store favorite destinations for quick
routing with the Navigation app.
-- Navigation App - For the first time Honda is offering a comprehensive
cloud-based navigation app for purchase(2) that includes 3D mapping and
continuously updated traffic information. As the first navigation app
developed by an automaker with mapping data provided by HERE, a Nokia
business, this app offers a variety of location search options including
search by point of interest, text search, or previous locations. Routes
can be pre-planned on a smartphone and will display on the vehicle's
touchscreen. Turn-by-turn routing guidance is available through the
vehicle's audio system as well.
-- Aha((TM))App - provides access to an extensive and diverse selection of
audio content across multiple genres and demographics, plus featured new
stations, Internet radio, podcasts, audiobooks, news, Twitter and
Facebook updates and nearby location listings for restaurants, coffee
houses, hotels, weather, parks, and gas stations. Users can tap to
personalize stations or add favorites via smartphone or directly through
the Display Audio interface.
-- Launcher App -Finds and organizes Honda-approved 3rd party apps so they
can be quickly integrated into the Display Audio system. Approved apps
can be found through the Launcher and shown on the Display Audio screen
for easy access.
Additional new features found with HondaLink include HondaLink Assist, which can help provide emergency assistance to drivers. If there is a cellular connection and an airbag deployment sensor is triggered by a collision, the system is designed to automatically attempt to notify an operator, report the car's current location, and allow you to talk directly to the operator. The operator can then contact emergency services if needed.
Siri Eyes Free Integration
Display Audio integrates Apple's Siri Eyes Free mode into Honda vehicles. Compatible iPhone(®) users will be able to operate Siri through familiar voice commands by pressing and holding the TALK button on the steering wheel when their iPhone is paired via Bluetooth(® ). Using Eyes Free mode, Siri takes hands-free functionality even further and helps minimize distractions by keeping an iOS device's screen from lighting up.
Owners can direct Siri to perform a number of specific tasks while they keep their eyes on the road and their hands on the wheel.
-- Sending text messages and e-mails
-- Reading incoming text messages and emails
-- Setting up calendar entries, reminders, and alarms
-- Checking the weather
-- Turn-by-turn voice navigation (when the audio system is set to
Bluetooth® Audio or iPod mode)
-- Sports scores and stock quotes
Display Audio is the first factory installed integration of Siri Eyes Free mode into a Honda vehicle. Previously, it was available on select Honda and Acura models including the 2013 -2014 Honda Accord and 2013 Acura RDX and ILX only as a dealer installed accessory.
Honda offers a complete lineup of cars and trucks through a network of more than 1,000 dealerships in the United States. (1 )The Display Audio Interface is used for direct connection to and streaming from some current [Apple/Android] smartphones. For safety reasons, always launch HondaLink applications or perform any other operation on your phone only when the vehicle is safely parked. State or local laws may limit use of texting feature, and Assist functions may be terminated without notice. Your wireless carrier's rate plans apply. Please see your Honda dealer and HondaLink terms and conditions for details.

MaRS client Smart Energy Instruments and Hitachi High-Tech launch new solution to improve grid reliability
TORONTO, Dec. 3, 2013 /PRNewswire/ - Smart Energy Instruments (SEI), a

reliability and efficiency and accelerating the shift to renewable
"Escalating global climate and energy challenges in the next decade
speak to a dire need for technologies like ours," said D. Jeff Dionne,
CEO of SEI. "In most of the developed world we've been spoiled with
relatively good power reliability up to now. However, events like
Hurricane Sandy and the double blackout for 600 million people in India
last year, and Fukushima before that have shattered that perception. We
are elated that our first silicon was a success and are excited about

and its impact on greenhouse gas emissions and climate change.
"To turn a grid into a smart grid, you need visibility. Highly detailed,
real-time visibility on the grid is what SEI's chipset provides. It's
so detailed you can even see which direction power is flowing," said
Tom Rand, co-managing director, MaRS Cleantech Fund and SEI Board

there's just no 'smart' to 'smart grid.' SEI provides unparalleled

game must be played, with companies like GE and ABB," said Dionne. SEI
has an impressive list of global partners, including Siemens and
Hitachi High-Technologies of Japan, which is responsible for IP
licensing, commercialization and sales.
"With the growing importance of energy efficiency, reliability and
transition to renewable energy, not only in Japan but around the world,

Raritan Adds New Swappable Sensor and Mini Plug-in Sensor for Monitoring Data Center Environments
-- New tiny plug-in MINI sensor requires no cables and new swappable-sensor product measures three spots recommended by ASHRAE --
SOMERSET, N.J., Dec. 3, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Raritan, a leading provider of data center infrastructure management (DCIM) and rack power distribution solutions, today added two new sensor products that are easy and quick to deploy for monitoring temperature among racks and keeping IT equipment healthy.
Requiring no cabling, Raritan's new DPX-T1-MINI sensor measures ambient temperatures in the hot aisle side of a rack. Similar in size to a USB stick, the tiny sensor takes only a few seconds to install because it plugs directly into the sensor port of a Raritan intelligent rack power distribution unit (iPDU). Plugging a sensor into a Raritan iPDU -- the first with a built-in sensor port -- eliminates the need for a separate controller or cabling, which helps reduce costs and simplifies deployment.
Raritan's new four-sensor product, DPX2-T3H1, is also easy to deploy because the multiple sensors are pre-connected to one cable. Designed to measure temperature and humidity on the cool-air inlet side of a server rack, the new combo sensor makes it easy to follow ASHRAE's (American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers) cooling guidelines for sensor placement at the top, middle and bottom of a rack. To make maintenance easier, the DPX2-T3H1 comes with replaceable sensor heads. If needed, a sensor can be easily swapped out for a new sensor head -- eliminating the need and cost to remove and replace the entire sensor product.
"Raritan is focused on adding intelligent monitoring to data center racks so that they can be managed more efficiently and run optimally. It all boils down to having the right management and feedback tools to support the care and feeding of IT assets in racks," said David Wood, Director of Power Management Solutions at Raritan. "With today's new offerings, data center managers are able to monitor temperature and humidity and to get accurate information in order to increase temperature safely and eliminate the cost of over cooling data centers. We continue to focus on making solutions useful to data center professionals and that are easy to deploy and maintain."
A Web-based GUI enables data center managers to monitor remotely the sensors and report and plot sensor values in real time or over a period of time. Environmental information also can be shared with DCIM solutions, such as Raritan's Power IQ® energy management software. Sensors connect to the network by plugging into Raritan's iPDUs, which, in turn, connect to the network via Ethernet or Wi-Fi.
Raritan's sensor portfolio includes temperature, humidity, airflow, air pressure, water and contact closure, as well as asset tracking sensors. To learn more about Raritan's environmental and infrastructure monitoring solutions, visit http://www.raritan.com/environment-management/.
Raritan is a proven innovator of energy and infrastructure management solutions for data centers of all sizes. In more than 50,000 locations worldwide, Raritan's award-winning hardware and software solutions -- including intelligent rack PDUs and sensors; DCIM and energy management software; and access and control products -- provide IT and facility directors, managers and administrators with the control they need to increase power management efficiency, improve data center productivity and enhance operations. Tegile Systems' Zebi Arrays Provide 'Compelling' Reasons to Switch from Outdated Dell Compellent Hardware
Over 100 Tegile arrays for rip and replace
NEWARK, Calif., Dec. 3, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Tegile Systems, the leading provider of flash-driven storage arrays for virtualized server and virtual desktop environments, today announced that more than 100 of its feature-rich Zebi appliances have served as a direct replacement for Dell (Compellent) hardware at customer installations, providing these organizations with significant savings from a storage utilization, performance to dollar ratio and maintenance perspective.
Rather than overspend on the forced hardware refreshes that are necessary in order to update aging Compellent systems, Dell customers have decided instead to upgrade to a new generation of flash-driven enterprise storage arrays that balance performance, capacity, features and price for virtualization, file services and database applications. Tegile Zebi arrays provide solid-state performance without sacrificing the capacity or cost advantage of hard disk storage. Inline deduplication and compression provides usable capacity that is far greater than its raw capacity without the performance hit of the traditional Compellent storage systems.
In addition to hardware replacement costs, organizations face a myriad of migration fees, unplanned downtime and other soft costs that are associated with updating Compellent equipment. Customers that have made the switch from Compellent to Zebi arrays include Credit Union of Colorado, Fanatics Inc., Minnesota Department of Transportation, Minnesota Wild, Nutraceutical and Oil Insurance Limited, among others.
"Our data center previously contained Dell Compellent storage but Tegile delivered much higher scalability, smaller footprint and simple management for the IT team. Our staff is now spending less time fixing system issues and more time addressing customers' needs," said Jim Ibister, vice president of facility administration for Minnesota Wild.
In addition to Compellent replacements, Tegile has been chosen over Dell for new installs in hundreds of other customer sites with users attesting to the superiority of Zebi arrays in price, performance and capacity.
Tegile channel partners have the opportunity to help their customers cut their storage expenditures in half, triple performance and easily manage storage without adding staff by making the switch from Compellent hardware to Zebi arrays. Tegile partners can experience levels of service and margin long gone from their current Compellent relationships. Additional incentives include a buyback of existing Compellent hardware based on the value of the equipment. Details of all current channel offers are available at Tegile's secure partner portal.
"For less than the cost of a Dell Compellent hardware refresh, organizations are increasingly upgrading their storage systems to the feature-rich Tegile storage array instead," said Rob Commins, VP Marketing of Tegile Systems. "Zebi flash-driven arrays have every critical feature included, and because of our dedupe and compression, users get 75% more capacity than they would have paid for. Dell customers and channel partners alike can benefit from a switch to a better, less expensive option that our Zebi arrays provide."
About Tegile Systems
Tegile Systems is pioneering a new generation of flash driven enterprise storage arrays that balance performance, capacity, features and price for virtualization, file services and database applications. With Tegile's Zebi line of hybrid storage arrays, the company is redefining the traditional approach to storage by providing a family of arrays that is significantly faster than all hard disk-based arrays and significantly less expensive than all solid-state disk-based arrays.
Tegile's patented MASS technology accelerates the Zebi's performance and enables on-the-fly de-duplication and compression of data so each Zebi has a usable capacity far greater than its raw capacity. Tegile's award-winning technology solutions enable customers to better address the requirements of server virtualization, virtual desktop integration and database integration than other offerings. Featuring both NAS and SAN connectivity, Tegile arrays are easy-to-use, fully redundant, and highly scalable. They come complete with built-in auto-snapshot, auto-replication, near-instant recovery, onsite or offsite failover, and virtualization management features. Ball Aerospace Completes Primary Structure for JPSS-1
First Joint Polar Satellite System spacecraft on schedule for 2017 launch
BOULDER, Colo., Dec. 3, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Ball Aerospace & Technologies Corp. has achieved a pivotal milestone for assuring continuity of the nation's future weather and storm forecasting by completing the primary bus structure of the first satellite in the Joint Polar Satellite System (JPSS-1). JPSS-1 is the follow-on in a series of next generation satellites and is scheduled for launch in early 2017.
Procured by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), through the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA), JPSS-1 will continue the observations now provided by the Suomi National Polar-orbiting Partnership (Suomi NPP) satellite, also built by Ball and launched in 2011. The continuity these satellites provide on orbit is critical for ensuring the nation's ability to accurately predict severe weather.
"We remain ahead of schedule in meeting our milestones," said Cary Ludtke, vice president and general manager for Ball's Operational Space business unit. "JPSS-1 will operationalize the advanced technologies currently being demonstrated on Suomi NPP, and with the satellite's core structure complete, we can now push on to assembly, integration and test as we prepare for instrument integration in November 2014."
JPSS will fly a suite of advanced technology remote-sensing instruments that includes:
-- Visible/Infrared Imaging Radiometer Suite (VIIRS)
-- Cross-track Infrared Sounder (CrIS)
-- Advanced Technology Microwave Sounder (ATMS)
-- Ozone Mapping and Profiler Suite (OMPS)
-- Clouds and the Earth's Radiant Energy System (CERES)
Ball is under contract to NASA's Goddard Space Flight Center to design and build the JPSS-1 satellite bus, the Ozone Mapping and Profiler Suite (OMPS) instrument, integrate all instruments, and perform satellite-level testing and launch support.
JPSS-1 will provide essential data for civil and military weather-forecasting, storm tracking, and climate-monitoring. The data from JPSS-1 will be used by the National Weather Service in models for forecasts three to seven days ahead of a severe weather event. This weather forecasting will allow scientists and forecasters to monitor and predict weather patterns with greater speed and accuracy, while also giving emergency managers and the public time to prepare.

Securonix Announces The World's First Access Scanner
Solution Available for FREE Download
LOS ANGELES, Dec. 3, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Securonix, the leader in Security Analytics, announced the new product release of "Access Scanner" which automatically identifies and helps remove high-risk access in critical business applications and systems. Access Scanner uses advanced peer group and outlier analytics to detect high-risk access that can be used in access certification and access request processes. "Our customers are certifying the top 2% - 5% of the riskiest access and seeing up to a 80% access revocation while drastically cutting the compliance burden on the business. The solution can be setup in a matter of days with no business involvement", says Sachin Nayyar, Founder and CEO of Securonix. The product is available now as a free download from the Securonix website.
Increasingly, access control is the last line of defense against both internal and external attacks. With millions of access privileges to manage across thousands of users and hundreds of applications, organizations continue to struggle with rubberstamping practices in their certification process and very cumbersome access request processes. Securonix provides an innovative, fast and cost effective way to reduce the risk associated with access and meeting compliance requirements.
Access Scanner integrates with every major IAM and identity access governance product while connecting natively to major business applications and systems for delivering a continuous stream of access risk intelligence.
"We had the Access Scanner deployed in our environment and generating results in less than one hour," says Raz Glazer, Director of Managed Services at Clarizen, a rapidly growing cloud-based enterprise work collaboration software company. "We immediately were able to expand upon our ability to make sure that only employees in specific roles have access to our sensitive information. With the rapid growth that our company is experiencing, keeping track of access entitlements can be challenging. The Access Scanner eliminates this challenge for us."
"Managing access in today's large complex enterprise applications requires a new approach not entirely dependent on the business to manually identify high-risk access. Companies need security intelligence to automatically and continuously identify what is high-risk access so they can focus and streamline their access management processes from requests through certification. At Securonix our whole focus is delivering this security intelligence capability and the release of Access Scanner is our way of demonstrating the ease and power of the technology" said Tanuj Gulati, Founder and CTO of Securonix.
Securonix is working to radically transform all areas of data security with actionable security intelligence. Our purpose-built advanced security analytics technology mines, enriches, analyzes, scores and visualizes customer data into actionable intelligence on the highest risk threats from within and outside their environment. Using signature-less anomaly detection techniques that track users, account, and system behavior Securonix is able to automatically and accurately detect the most advanced data security and fraud attacks. Globally customers are using Securonix to address the most basic and complex needs around threat detection and monitoring, high privileged activity monitoring, enterprise and web fraud detection, application risk monitoring, and access risk management.

Volvo Car Group Initiates a World Unique Swedish Pilot Project with Self-driving Cars on Public Roads
STOCKHOLM, Dec. 3, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Volvo Cars will play a leading role in the world's first large-scale autonomous driving pilot project in which 100 self-driving Volvo cars will use public roads in everyday driving conditions around the Swedish city of Gothenburg.
The ground-breaking project 'Drive Me - Self-driving cars for sustainable mobility' is a joint initiative between Volvo Car Group, the Swedish Transport Administration, the Swedish Transport Agency, Lindholmen Science Park and the City of Gothenburg. Project 'Drive Me' is endorsed by the Swedish Government.
To view the Multimedia News Release, please click:
The aim is to pinpoint the societal benefits of autonomous driving and position Sweden and Volvo Cars as leaders in the development of future mobility.
"Autonomous vehicles are an integrated part of Volvo Cars' as well as the Swedish government's vision of zero traffic fatalities. This public pilot represents an important step towards this goal," says Hakan Samuelsson, President and CEO of Volvo Car Group. "It will give us an insight into the technological challenges at the same time as we get valuable feedback from real customers driving on public roads."
The pilot will involve self-driving cars using approximately 50 kilometres of selected roads in and around Gothenburg. These roads are typical commuter arteries and include motorway conditions and frequent queues. The project also includes fully automated parking, without a driver in the car.
'Drive Me' will commence in 2014 and the first cars are expected to be on the roads in Gothenburg by 2017.
Recognising that growing urbanisation continues to put pressure on transport systems in and around urban areas all over the world, 'Drive Me' addresses the need to join forces in the quest for a sustainable society and mobility.
"Sweden has developed unique co-operation between the authorities, the industry and the academic community. This has resulted in a world-leading position in traffic safety. Autonomous vehicles and a smarter infrastructure will bring us another step closer to even safer traffic and an improved environment. It will also contribute to new jobs and new opportunities in Sweden," says Catharina Elmsater-Svard, the Swedish Minister for Infrastructure.
Self-driving vehicles can contribute to reducing infrastructure investments and enrich city life in other ways, such as by reducing emissions, and improving air quality and traffic safety.
Autonomous driving will fundamentally change the way we look at driving cars, as you can plan your drive with a mix of autonomous and active driving. This makes the journey more time-efficient. You can safely interact via phone or tablets or simply choose to relax.
"The self-driving technology used in the pilot allows you to hand over the driving to the car when the circumstances are appropriate," says Hakan Samuelsson.
The 100 Volvo cars will be new models developed on the upcoming Scalable Product Architecture (SPA), which is prepared for the continuous introduction of new support and safety systems all the way to technologies that enable highly autonomous drive. First out will be the all-new Volvo XC90, which will be introduced in 2014.
Wearable Electronics Market on Track to Exceed $8 Billion in 2013
LONDON, December 2, 2013 /PRNewswire/ --
The consumer wearable electronics segment - comprising wireless and smartwatches,
activity trackers, wearable GPS, heart rate monitors and smartglasses - is experiencing a
period of rapid growth with a forecast value of over $8 billion in 2013, according to the
latest research from Futuresource Consulting.
"Many wearable devices are currently companion devices to other smart devices, in
particular smartphones," says Oliver Rowntree, Research Analyst at Futuresource
Consulting. "It's likely this will largely remain the case over the forecast period."
"Fitness devices are by far the most mature market, making up 97% of the projected
value in 2013, though this will fall dramatically as smartwatch and smartglasses
categories develop and products ship with embedded sensors that track and analyse
movements and activity, cannibalising some the functionality of dedicated fitness
"The connected watch category will be the most significant growth area within wearable
technology over the forecast period and Futuresource projects a combined wireless watch
and smartwatch market of around 0.9 million units in 2013, with more than 60% of this
accounted for by smartwatches."
Smartwatch growth will be driven by new entrants into the market, both from CE
manufacturers - as companies such as Apple and LG move into smartwatches - and from watch
companies which will integrate smart features into their devices.
Smartglasses are the least established wearable category covered in this new report,
as no products are currently commercially available. Futuresource therefore anticipates
that the market for smartglasses will first emerge in 2014, when Google Glass will be
According to the research, Futuresource forecasts that in 2014 there will be less than
one million smartglasses sold, growing to almost seven million by 2017, with a total
retail value closing in on two billion dollars. This assumes the entrance into the market
of a large number of key CE brands by 2015, though uptake will initially be limited to a
fairly niche, tech-savvy portion of consumers.
"One significant question with smartglasses is the degree of autonomy the devices will
have - whether they will be devices that are paired with another or whether they will be
standalone," says Rowntree. "Furthermore, unless wearable devices develop to fulfil much
of the function of other devices such as smartphones, uptake will be more limited in
emerging markets. As with specialist fitness wearables, without the functionality of
smartphones they are relatively niche luxury products."
Looking at the bigger picture, the wearable electronics segment will continue to
expand as consumer awareness and acceptance take hold, and Futuresource research pegs the
market at a value of around $20 billion by 2017.

New Image Enhancement Driver Incorporated into the Award-Winning Fujitsu "fi-Series" Scanner Product Line
SUNNYVALE, Calif., Dec. 2, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Fujitsu, the market leader in document imaging scanners, today announced the release of PaperStream IP (PSIP), a new intelligent image enhancement driver designed for its high-performance "fi-series" document imaging scanner line. Combined with Fujitsu scanners, PaperStream IP delivers a powerful image correction solution allowing documents to quickly and easily be converted into exceptionally clean images, giving organizations the ability to maximize automation, productivity and efficiency throughout their document capture processes.
PaperStream IP is equipped with both a TWAIN and ISIS interface to seamlessly integrate with the myriad of scanning applications on the market today. Its robust image enhancement capabilities accelerate optical character recognition (OCR) and reduce re-scan and driver adjustments without any sacrifice to scanner speed. Additionally, PSIP can easily be deployed to a fleet of scanners via the Fujitsu Scanner Central Admin, providing the ultimate control over the document capture process and reducing downtime.
"Fujitsu has established itself as the document imaging leader by providing the best hardware and software solutions on the market today," said Scott Francis, senior vice president of marketing, Fujitsu Computer Products of America, Inc. "PaperSteam IP provides our customers with another powerful and intuitive image enhancement solution that seamlessly integrates with our fi-series scanners to help organizations boost their document capture productivity and create long-term ROI."
Built on decades of technology refinement, PaperStream IP improves on numerous industry enhancement features while bringing many other specialized features to market such as edge repair fills in torn and ripped paper, multi-stream capability for fast output of different color formats simultaneously without slowing down scans, and blur correction for smooth dot matrix print and better OCR and reproduction. Additional features of PSIP include:
-- Preset Profiles: With a simple selection of black and white, color or
auto-color, the driver's defaults provide perfect images utilizing
advanced features such as auto orientation, blank page removal, deskew,
and hole punch removal. Setup time is also kept to a minimum.
-- Assisted Scanning: In the rare instances when a document's background is
not automatically cleaned up, the Assisted Scan takes the guesswork out
of document clean up by providing nine distinct cleaned up images. Users
simply select the image that looks best. There is no need for technical
prowess or the driver.
-- Real-Time Preview: For complex documents that require their own
specialized profiles, the Real-Time Preview functionality eliminates the
need to rescan documents as changes are immediately made.
-- Fast Scanning: Having a small usage footprint of approximately 100MB,
PSIP takes advantage of the PC's multicore processor to perform powerful
cleanup without compromising throughput. PaperStream IP also provides
64-bit support for the latest generation of advanced scanning
-- Patch & Barcode Recognition: In conjunction with scanning applications,
PSIP recognizes all of the most common patch codes including, 1-4, 6 &
T, as well as both one and two dimensional barcodes such as Code 3 of 9,
Code 128 and QR Code, allowing users to prepare and organize batches for
faster electronic filing.
Industry Support for Fujitsu PaperStream IP
"PaperStream IP provides a giant step forward in transparent document image enhancement. End users get 'better than the original' document images without the hassle of complex scanner driver installation, configuration, and support."
- Tom Bojarski, president and CEO, EchoStone Inc., a global provider of document management, imaging, and capture solutions
"PaperStream IP is a great alternative to other image optimization software currently in the market. The software is easy to install, simple to configure, and very effective. My documents have never looked so clean."
