IO Certified Under Arizona Computer Data Center Program
Customers Add Tax Benefits to Proven Savings from IO Intelligent Control platform
PHOENIX, Nov. 12, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- IO, a global leader in software-defined data centers, today announced that its Arizona data centers have been certified under the Arizona Computer Data Center (CDC) program. IO satisfied the State's certification requirements as a CDC, and its IO Phoenix and IO Scottsdale data centers were approved to house qualified co-location tenants. Additionally, the IO data centers were qualified as "sustainable redevelopment projects," doubling the certification and benefits period from ten to twenty years.
Under the program, IO and its customers may qualify for exemptions from Transaction Privilege Tax (TPT) and Use taxes on the purchase of qualified CDC equipment, including all state, county, and local level TPT or Use taxes. Qualified tenants must be contracted to use at least 500 kilowatts per month, for a minimum of two years.
"Because of the additional, significant economic benefits we can now offer our Arizona customer base, we are pleased to have our local data centers certified under the state's CDC tax exemption program," said Anthony Wanger, IO President and Co-Founder. "Effectively, this means that customers who choose to deploy at our world-class data centers in Arizona can experience substantial tax savings, in addition to the cost reductions already offered by the IO Intelligent Control platform. We look forward to helping existing and prospective IO customers craft deployment strategies that enable them to maximize these landmark benefits."
Recent news out of IO Phoenix operation came in August of this year, when IO announced that its modular technology had been found by Arizona Public Service (APS) to achieve 19% energy cost savings over traditional data center operations in the same Phoenix location. Having been achieved under the most strenuous environmental conditions and subject to high-resiliency customer SLAs, the study results are believed to represent a minimum in terms of expected cost and efficiency improvements. The study marked the data center industry's first and only known third-party efficiency evaluation and comparative validation between modular and traditional data center technology.
Further detail on the Computer Data Center tax exemptions program can be found at the Arizona Commerce Authority website http://www.azcommerce.com.

Exar Introduces Industry's Lowest Power Fault Tolerant Transceivers with Level 4 IEC ESD Protection
XR3070-78X Devices Operate from 3.3V with +/-18V Fault Tolerance
FREMONT, Calif., Nov. 12, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Exar Corporation (NYSE: EXAR), a leading supplier of high performance analog mixed-signal components and data management solutions, today announced the XR3070-78X family of ruggedized RS-485/RS-422 transceivers for harsh industrial environments. The analog bus pins can withstand direct shorts up to +/-18V and are protected from ESD events exceeding IEC Level 4. Operating from 3.3V with an industry-leading 300uA idle current, these devices consume half the power of a comparable +/-18V fault tolerant solution. The family of nine devices supports data rates up to 20Mbps in either full or half duplex configurations, and is intended for use in energy metering, building automation, security systems, process control, and other industrial automation applications.
"ESD and over-voltage events are leading causes of field failures and equipment returns in industrial communication applications," said Jack Roan, product marketing manager, Exar. "The XR3070-78X family delivers robust protection in both these areas, providing our customers with an additional measure of safety against installation errors or cable faultsand at the same time significantly reducing system power consumption."
Common practice in these applications is to route 15Vdc or 12Vac power in the same cable pack as the RS-485 data lines. Damaged cables or incorrect wiring can expose the transceiver to these voltages, which will permanently damage standard RS-485 devices. The XR3070-78X provides cost effective insurance against wiring faults up to +/-18V, and simultaneously protects against ESD events exceeding IEC Level 4. The IEC standard is significantly more stringent than the Human Body Model (HBM) ESD test commonly referenced by semiconductor device manufacturers, mainly due to the higher currents requirements.
Product Details
XR3070-78X are 1-driver/1-receiver RS-485/422 devices operating from a 3.0V to 3.6V power supply (3.3V +/-10%) and are fully compliant to the TIA/EIA-485 and TIA/EIA-422 standards. The bus pins feature enhanced ESD protection to +/-15kV (+/-15kV IEC 61000-4-2 Air Gap Discharge, +/-8kV IEC 61000-4-2 Contact Discharge, +/-15kV Human Body Model); non-bus pins are protected up to +/-4kV Human Body Model.
Product Availability and Pricing
The XR3070-78X family is available in industry standard 8 NSOIC and 14 NSOIC packages. To request samples please visit Exar's website at http://www.exar.com, or contact Customer Service at customersupport@exar.com.The suggested retail price for the XR3070-78X family is $1.25 in 1,000-unit quantities.

ZUG, Switzerland, November 12, 2013 /PRNewswire/ --
The expert brand is growing stronger: The newest member of the second-largest European
federation for consumer electronics, information technology, telecommunication,
entertainment and domestic appliances is the Hungarian Bravotechgroup. As of 1 January
2014, the expert brand will be present throughout Hungary with 185 specialty retail
stores. With this development, the expert International group now includes 17 European
countries with more than 3,500 specialty stores; and the group is continuing to expand its
strong market position.
"We are very pleased about the growth in Hungary," explains expert International
managing director Dieter Mathys. "Particularly because the Bravotechgroup, with annual
sales of 80 million euros, is one of the top players on the Hungarian market." At its
headquarters in Hodmezovasarhely, the Bravotechgroup employs 315 people, has 12,500
m[2]of storage area, and has been operating as the umbrella for diverse electronics
specialty stores, including 27 Euronics dealers. Starting in 2014, all 185 outlets will
operate under the expert brand.
In addition to expansion in Hungary, the expert International group is also
demonstrating organic growth in already developed markets. The most recent example is in
Italy: The North-Italy-based regional expert company "expert Marco Polo" is taking over
Dixons Retail Group's 96 Unieuro specialty stores with sales of 500 million euros: This
will make expert number 1 in Italy.
"Our intensive Europe-wide efforts to gain strong partners for the expert group are
paying off," says Dieter Mathys, for whom size isn't everything. Alongside growth and
strengthening the brand, the group's core activities are to extend beyond joint purchasing
in future. "We want to move away from simply being a purchasing association toward being
the leading group in first-class service and expert consulting." expert International sees
this course as the key for future success because it is the only way for expert dealers to
differentiate themselves from the competition and develop long-term profitability. The
goal is clear: "We want to set new standards in Europe with top consultancy and
comprehensive services."
The New Drivers, Fairway Woods, Hybrids and Irons Emphasize Distance and Speed
CARLSBAD, Calif., Nov. 12, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- In a year that saw market share gains for Callaway Golf Company (NYSE: ELY) in the woods and irons categories, the golf club and ball manufacturer today announces a full new line of distanced-focused woods and irons products for 2014. The X2 Hot products, including drivers, fairway woods, hybrids and irons -- each with a Standard and Pro version -- have been developed to be longer, faster and more forgiving for a broad range of golfers. The X2 Hot line of products will be available on January 17, 2014 at golf retailers worldwide and on http://www.CallawayGolf.com.
"With the X2 Hot line, we challenged ourselves to reinvent each product to meaningfully improve distance, speed and forgiveness across every category," said Dr. Alan Hocknell, Senior Vice President, R&D, Callaway Golf. "We worked hard for every extra gram of discretionary weight, every thousandth of an inch of metal, to increase ball speed and overall distance while improving total performance, especially on off-center impact."
The X2 Hot line sits in the heart of Callaway Golf's 2014 product lineup, and each club has distance, speed and forgiveness in common. Additional context on these products and others, as always, can be found in various multimedia formats on the Callaway Media Productions page: http://www.CallawayMediaProductions.com
X2 Hot Drivers
Emphasizing the focus on distance, the X2 Hot Drivers debut the Company's Hyper Speed Face technology, with a large overall design based on player impact probability and stress distribution across the face, resulting in high average balls speeds and a lighter weight construction. Players can independently adjust the driver's loft and lie with the Company's Advanced Optifit Hosel. Loft can either be decreased by 1-degree or increased by up to 2-degrees to help optimize the launch angle and backspin. The lie angle can also be adjusted between Neutral and Draw, which will influence the directional bias. Eight total settings are available to help golfers adjust their trajectory and shot shape and unearth maximum distance gains for their game.
There are many recipes for distance -- no singular clubhead shape, size, loft, CG position, head weight, club length or swingweight optimizes performance for everyone. So Callaway is bringing options in the X2 Hot line to promote optimal distance gains for all swings. The standard version of the X2 Hot Driver is 460cc, available in 9 degree, 10.5 degree and 13.5 degree HT lofts, and comes stock with an Aldila Tour Blue shaft. The Pro version, available in an 8.5 degree offering, is 440cc, features a lower, more neutral center of gravity, and includes a 7 gram external weight. The Pro model will be available with the Aldila Tour Green shaft as the stock offering. The new product introduction retail price for both models is $349.99.
X2 Hot Fairway Woods | X2 Hot Pro Fairway Woods
The Company's fairway wood market share doubled in 2013. To keep pace in 2014 with X2 Hot, the team added the new Hyper Speed Face Cup technology that incorporates a thinner face for added ball speed, particularly on impacts low in the face. The addition of a 455 carpenter steel face cup changed the paradigm in last year's wildly popular fairway wood, yet initial testing has shown the new Hyper Speed Face Cup is adding 1.4 mph average ball speed over its predecessor. The team also improved the Internal Standing Wave, a weighting system that gives Callaway engineers an ideal CG position for distance from all impact locations on the face, and allows them to position weight close to the face without reducing its flexibility.
Callaway will offer a host of options in the X2 Hot Fairway Wood, expanding the distance and versatility offerings for various player types and playing conditions. This includes new options of the Deep Fairway Woods, which gained notoriety with Phil Mickelson's incredible birdie on the Par 5 17 en route to his 2013 Open Championship victory. Options include a 3-, 4-, 5-, 7-, 9- and 11-wood in the Standard model; a 13.5 degree, 15 degree, 17 degree and 19 degree in the Pro model, and Callaway will add to its Deep series with an X2 Hot Pro 2Deep, a 3Deep and a 5Deep offering. Stocks shafts are the same as the driver. The new product introduction retail price is $229.99.
X2 Hot Hybrids | X2 Hot Pro Hybrids
The X2 Hot Hybrids represent a huge leap in technology, performance and contemporary looks from its predecessor. Taking cues from the success of Callaway's explosive fairway woods and the staggering distance they introduced in 2013, the X2 Hot Hybrids add the Hyper Speed Face Cup and an Internal Standing Wave in a hybrid for the first time. These technologies and others have resulted in a sweet spot that is 13 times larger than its predecessor's (not a misprint), CT that is up to 22% higher on center hits and up to 30-40% higher on off-center hits. A new, more contemporary head shape, largely based on Tour feedback, complements the performance and distance technology. The X2 Hot Hybrids feature a larger face area, a straighter, flatter leading edge and less offset.
Callaway will offer a 3-, 4-, 5- and 6-Hybrid in the Standard model and a 16 degree, 18 degree, 20 degree and 23 degree Hybrid in the Pro model. Same stock shafts as the other woods products. And the new product introduction retail price is $199.99.
X2 Hot Irons | X2 Hot Pro Irons
The Standard X2 Hot Iron, ironically, sets a new standard in distance irons. These clubs have a new Deep Central Undercut that increases the face compliance to boost ball speeds and - you guessed it - distance. A stabilizing arch optimizes the stiffness distribution across the face for a great sound and feel, while moving the hot spot lower on the face (and therefore more in line with a player's impact location). Distance and ball speed are a huge part of the X2 Hot Iron story, but why stop there? High MOI along with a repositioned center of gravity and improved turf interaction have helped improve the downrange consistency by as much as 40%, easily making these the most accurate long distance irons Callaway has ever designed.
The Pro model, with a thinner face and a uniquely designed stabilizing arch that moves the weight low and central - retains high ball speeds and distance advantages, but without an undercut cavity and in a compact shape that is more appealing to discerning players. The X2 Hot Pro Iron is further differentiated through a greater progression in offset and CG height, which helps retain some forgiveness in the longer irons while making the short irons more controllable and more appealing to the eyes for better players.
In the Standard model, the stock steel shaft is a True Temper Speed Step 85; the new product introduction retail price for a steel set is $799.99. The stock graphite shaft is a lighter-weight offering than has been offered before, and the new product introduction retail price is $899.99. In the Pro model, the standard steel shaft is the Project X 95 Flighted shaft and the new product introduction retail price is $899.99.

"Doug Fir" Answers All Your Christmas Tree Questions
Millersville University Professor/Student Release Droid App
MILLERSVILLE, Pa., Nov. 12, 2013 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- In search of the perfect Christmas tree for your family? What's the Cadillac of Christmas trees? If you want a soft-needled tree, do you have to sacrifice fragrance? And what is a Concolor? You can get the answers thanks to the new "Doug Fir Christmas Tree Guide" app - available for free for your Android phone.
"There isn't another app like this," said Dr. Christopher Hardy, a biology professor at Millersville University of Pennsylvania. "I designed this systematic guide to answer the questions I had about Christmas trees. Doug Fir will help people identify trees and learn a bit about them at the same time - all from the ease of their phone."
Hardy designed this app with Millersville computer science student, Joe Marks, who graduated in May.
"The top 10 trees we cover make up 99% of all Christmas trees sold," said Hardy. These include: Concolor (White Fir), Fraser Fir, Douglas Fir, Scotch Pine, White Pine, Colorado Blue Spruce, Norway Spruce, Arizona Cypress (Ice-cedar), Leyland Cypress and Red-Cedar.
"A Blue Spruce may look impressive in a great room," said Hardy, "but its sharp needles can draw blood and wouldn't be great in close quarters with kids. A Concolor (White Fir) is an up-and-coming tree that is both soft and very fragrant. It has the blue-silvery look of the spruce without the spruce's prickly needles."
Some fun facts from the Doug Fir app:
-- The White fir is the natural host to the "fir mistletoe," which is a
parasitic plant.
-- The pines - Scotch and White - while soft, are not as fragrant as the
firs.
-- The conical shape of Christmas trees is an adaptation to shed snow and
ice in the winter.
-- The wonderfully scented resin of Christmas trees is also the source of
the industrial solvent turpentine and the rosin used to create friction
on bows for string instruments, and improve the grip of gymnasts,
bowlers and baseball pitchers.
-- The sticky resin protects the trees from insect and fungal attacks.
-- The berry-like cones of the common juniper, a close relative of
red-cedar Christmas trees, are used to flavor gin.

users can stream music, videos and photos stored both locally and online in services
such as YouTube to the most popular TVs, set-top boxes, A/V receivers on the market.
Streambels streams effortlessly to Apple TV, AirPort Express and all AirPlay-enabled
receivers including Bose, Sony, Denon, and Pioneer among others. Thanks to an integrated
DLNA support, Streambels works also flawlessly with other popular devices such as Samsung,
Sony, LG and Philips TVs, Xiaomi Box and many more. To ensure full compatibility,
Streambels has been extensively tested and fine-tuned both in Tuxera labs and by dedicated
beta testers over the past months.
Apple supports exclusively AirPlay for media streaming from one Apple device to
another and any AirPlay-enabled receiver. There is an increasing demand for a reliable,
easy-to-use AirPlay streaming solution for every Android user. To compare, DLNA (Digital
Living Network Alliance(R)) is a platform independent streaming protocol supported already
by over two billion TVs, A/V receivers and other devices. At the moment, DLNA has a number
of interoperability and usability issues, which had lead manufacturers to introduce their
own implementations. Tuxera's answer is Streambels that works with all the popular AirPlay
and DLNA compatible devices out-of-the-box.
"We have now launched and will keep on developing a streaming app that is easy-to-use
and just works for everyone. Streambels comes with a simple, user-friendly interface that
acts both as a streamer and a media player. To make it more personal the user can change
the look and feel of the app using one of the pre-loaded background themes. All the
available receivers are automatically detected so it is easy to pick one from the list.
Since we support both AirPlay and DLNA protocols, including many manufacturer-specific
implementations, Streambels is fully compatible with the majority of smart devices already
today," said Mikko Valimaki Tuxera CEO.
"With cloud based video, music and photo services booming it is crucial to support
also the most popular online channels. Streambels users can already stream videos from
YouTube and Facebook and we are working on shipping the next release with built-in support
for Spotify, SoundCloud, and a range of online radio stations. We are constantly adding
more features based on the user feedback. So stay tuned," added Oscar Santolalla, Product
Manager at Tuxera.
About Tuxera: Tuxera is the leading provider of file systems that allow music,

Robert Tickell, Sales Lead for IBM's MidMarket business, looks at flash storage
technology in his latest article on IBM Insights:
My latest post is all about the economics of Flash storage technology. YES, I hear you
shout, just what we were waiting for. Or perhaps not. So let's make this a little more
enticing. Have you thought about what can happen in a flash?
Given these mind-blowing numbers, how do you gain competitive advantage from all of
this data? Especially when you consider the pertinent data that flies around your own
business every day, the stuff that's really meaningful for you to have to hand. Data in
your finance systems, your CRM, your ERP platform, databases, all recalled onto your
screen in an instance, no lag, no delay.
Flash storage is all about speed of business information. Supercharge that and you
empower your employees. Now, given Flash storage economics are changing at the same pace,
then you can begin focusing on:
- Extreme Performance - 6 x improvement in processing time and 12 x
improvement in CPU utilisation
- Purpose-built, highly parallel design with IBM MicroLatency[(TM)] built in
- Macro Efficiency - up to 38% lower licensing costs; 74% lower environmental
costs; and 34% lower operational costs
- Enterprise reliability with tens of thousands of read/writes
- And an IBM Flash strategy comprising $1bn in R&D spend
If your business relies on insights at every moment of every day, then it needs to
make business decisions fast and access critical information without delay. But if you're
still not convinced about the shifting economics of IBM FlashSystem storage, this might
help:
- 570,000 IO operations delivered every second for the same wattage as a
300-watt lightbulb
- Move data at the rate of 3GB per second for less wattage than a travel
hairdryer (my wife's ears perked up)
- Provide a 100GB storage volume for the same wattage as a child's nightlight
In a complex business environment, it's a simple solution to help companies compete,
innovate and grow.

Kickstarter Launch for 3D Circuit Board Printer the EX¹
BRISBANE, Australia, November 11, 2013 /PRNewswire/ --
The Cartesian Co aim to raise $30,000 on Kickstarter with speedy electronics
printer
Today electronics 3D printer The EX(1)
[http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1908666050/2121935773?token=b0704d28 ] launches on
crowd-funding site Kickstarter. Starting from $1,199 on an early bird special, The EX(1)
is a rapid prototyper that makes printing electronics and circuit boards as quick and as
easy as printing a photo.
The Cartesian Co. printer EX(1) is a desktop device, using inkjet technology to print
in elemental silver on a range of different surfaces in the same way an inkjet printer
does. It makes printing complex circuits simple and quick, allowing you to create anything
from a gamepad remote control to wearable technology in a matter of minutes.
Ariel Briner, Co Founder and Head of Electrical Design at Cartesian, explains: "There
is a real barrier into the world of complex circuitry, and Cartesian Co. wants to make
electronics accessible for the every day person - giving them the power to bring their
ideas to life through creativity and experimentation. We've been thinking about how to
design a printer that creates circuit boards for four years now and developed the EX(1)
over the last 9 months, and we hope the Kickstarter community will feel as passionate
about the project as we do".
The EX(1) has two inkjet cartridges and prints onto a base material - the "substrate"
- in the same way an average desktop printer would. However, instead of ink the EX(1) lays
down two chemicals that mix together and produce silver nano particles, leaving a silver
image on the substrate. The EX(1) can print on both conventional circuit board materials
and various types of plastic, glass, wood, ceramic, silicone and even fabric and paper.
The ability to print flexible circuits on such a variety of different surfaces means that
people can be more creative and experimental with electronics than ever before.
Isabella Stephens, a Cartesian Co-Founder, explains: "We want to change the way people
think about electronics, the same way as 3D printers changed the way we think about making
physical objects. Until now making circuits at home has been a frustrating and
time-consuming process often involving lots of chemicals, but with the EX(1) you have the
freedom to instantly test your ideas without the monotony of making a PCB by hand, the
time spent wiring it on a breadboard or the days spent waiting to get your design back
from a board house".
The EX(1) has stylish hardware, easy-to-use software and provides an intuitive user
experience, so there's nothing holding you back from creating whatever your heart desires
- you can even solder the circuits or use conductive glues to join circuits together.
While you have control over every printing variable, the EX(1) includes tools to make
creating electronics an easy process, while at the same time allowing the more experienced
pros to push boundaries and experiment.
Specs
Print Area: 17.5cm x 8cm
Printer Size: 41.2cm Wide x 31.2cm Deep x 16.6cm High
Printer Weight: About 6kg with full cartridges
Useable substrates: Paper, a variety of plastics, fabric, wood, stickers, and many
more to be tested
Cartridge yield: Depends strongly on size, quality of prints, and substrate used, but
generally in the order of dozens of boards
Cartesian Co. created the EX(1) after feeling sick of making PCBs by hand. The team
set out to find a way to effortlessly make circuits quickly with a minimum amount of user
input. After trying all the conventional methods such as milling, iron-on transfers and
photo-resist they found all these processes took too long, didn't give good results or
were just ill suited. This inspired them to stop trying to replicate others' methods and
start inventing.

Panasonic Announces New Portable Speaker Systems Designed With Industry-Leading Playback Time
The New SC-NA30 and SC-NA10 Wireless Speaker Systems Offer up to 20 hours of playback and provides a smartphone charging feature
NEWARK, N.J., Nov. 11, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Panasonic Consumer Electronics Company today announced the introduction of the SC-NA30 and SC-NA10 Portable Wireless Speaker Systems which offer the longest playback time currently available on a wireless speaker(1), unrivalled sound quality, smart networking and elegant designs that offer ultimate portability. The SC-NA30 and SC-NA10 compact speakers enable users to complement their lifestyle with outstanding portable audio. Both speaker systems can be purchased online at http://www.shop.panasonic.com.
"As Panasonic continues to expand the offerings for home and portable audio systems, we're pleased to introduce the new NA series which is perfect for enjoying music at home or on-the-go," said David Fisher, Product Manager, Home Entertainment Panasonic Consumer Electronics Company. "Panasonic understands that listening habits differ from person to person and the new NA Series provides users with the highest quality audio, intelligent networking coupled with convenient designs to suit our customers' audio preferences and lifestyles."
With up to 20 hours of playback, both the SC-NA30 and SC-NA10 boast the longest playback time currently available on a wireless speaker and provide outstanding connectivity options for greater ease of use. Compatible with the Panasonic Music Streaming application, the SC-NA30 and SC-NA10 connect to a user's smart phone or tablet, enabling instant access to a library of favorite music with the simple touch of a button. Near Field Communication (NFC) compatible, the SC-NA series can easily be synced to a smartphone or tablet: a simple touch of the smart device to the speaker will enable connection. Additionally, smart devices can be connected via Bluetooth® technology, so you can easily stream content to enjoy the sound of rich, full music on the wireless speaker.
Panasonic's commitment to end-to-end audio technology ensures that the new NA Series offers unrivalled sound quality in a portable form. Despite its compact design, the SC-NA30 packs an incredibly powerful audio capability. Two front 2-inch speakers and an integrated subwoofer reproduce a naturally expansive sound, as well as deep, robust bass. A double passive radiator protects the bass from unwanted vibrations, further enhancing the audio quality. The SC-NA10 houses two front 1.6-inch speakers for crisp, clear vocals and a single passive radiator to help deliver great quality, undistorted bass.
Like the SC-NA30, the SC-NA10 also benefits from components which drive the speaker cone more efficiently producing powerful audio, usually associated with much larger speaker systems. Panasonic's XBS Master sound processing technologies can also be found in both the SC-NA30 and SC-NA10. This technology delivers even more power, clarity and accuracy by amplifying low frequencies, eliminating unwanted sound and minimizing distortion.
Equipped with an integrated microphone, the Panasonic SC-NA30 and SC-NA10 can also act as a speakerphone allowing a user to receive calls in between music playback. With long-life, re-chargeable batteries housed within the SC-NA series portable speakers, a user can easily charge their smartphone or tablet via USB cable, even when music is being played, to keep the music going all day.
Both the SC-NA30 and SC-NA10 feature a contemporary design based on classic Hi-Fi style. The SC-NA30 has a slim and stylish Silver or Black body featuring a stainless mesh over the speaker and classic volume, bass and treble controls. The SC-NA10, available in silver, is similarly sleek and includes a compact, purse-like cover to allow easy portability, indoors or out. The NA10's cover also acts as a stand for the speaker.
The Panasonic SC-NA10 is now available online for MSRP $199.99. The SC-NA30 will be available on http://www.shop.panasonic.com in mid-November for MSRP $299.99.

Sharp Enters New Segment With Desktop Color Document Systems
New Color Document Systems Offers Professional Quality in Space-Saving Desktop Design
MAHWAH, N.J., Nov. 11, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Sharp Imaging and Information Company of America (SIICA), a division of Sharp Electronics Corporation, will launch a series of desktop color documents systems designed to save space and provide professional output. The new color systems will combine a compact design with the features and value that small businesses and workgroups demand.
"These latest models are designed for small businesses or individual departments that require a compact, efficient, and affordable color document solution," said Mike Marusic, Senior Vice President, Marketing and Business Solutions Group. "We've recognized a growing demand for smaller models that are capable of handling more sophisticated tasks and at a greater volume. In return, we've expanded our lineup to meet this need and complement our existing line of products."
Sharp's two new models, the MX-C250 and MX-C300W desktop color document systems, are capable of output speeds of up to 30 pages per minute (ppm) and offer print, copy, scan and fax features to enhance day-to-day workflows. The compact sizes of these models make them easy to fit into tight workspaces without sacrificing the advanced technology that provides professional quality output. The design of the MX-C250/C300W series was achieved using breakthrough technologies developed internally by Sharp, which include a high performance lens, downsized scanning unit, side-by-side toner cartridges and a reduction in overall parts.
The MX-C300W also offers a wide array of standard wireless features that will help streamline business. Users can easily scan or print from up to 5 wireless devices such as a PC, laptop, smartphone, or tablet simultaneously. With Sharpdesk(®) Mobile or standard wireless communication protocols, users can easily communicate with the MX-C300W without the hassle of a wired connection. Users no longer have to transfer files or images to a local machine prior to printing. Additionally, wireless connectivity enables the document system to be placed in locations that may not have a wired network outlet.
"We're very proud to include so many innovative features in these smaller units and still make them cost-effective for small businesses and individual use," said Marusic. "Most previous space-saving color copier/printers were networkable but primarily suited for personal use. These models expand our current market offerings by incorporating a full set of office-friendly features with top performance capabilities."
Both machines also meet the demanding Energy Star standards and come with other 'energy saving' features, such as rapid warm-up times, low power consumption, and automatic switch-off.
Availability

Diebold Introduces Cash Recycling ATMs To UniCredit's Fleet
ATMs reuse customer-deposited cash to enhance availability for leading European bank
NORTH CANTON, Ohio, Nov. 11, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Diebold, Incorporated (NYSE: DBD) is adding cash recycling capabilities to the automated teller machine (ATM) fleet of UniCredit Banca, part of UniCredit Group, one of Europe's leading commercial banks operating in 20 countries. A three-year hardware and maintenance services agreement will add approximately 970 Diebold Opteva(®) ATMs across UniCredit's network. More than half of the terminals will be Opteva Flex Performance(SM) Series ATMs featuring deposit automation and full cash recycling capabilities, which enable customer-deposited cash to be reused in future withdrawal transactions.
Based in Milan, Italy, global banking and financial services company UniCredit operates more than 9,000 branches. Its core markets are in Italy, Austria, Russia and southern Germany.
"Adding cash recycling capabilities to our ATM fleet will help reduce our operational costs and administrative responsibilities by extending the time between ATM replenishments. This welcomed efficiency will allow our staff to focus more attention on our customers," said UniCredit Bank's Head of IT Support. "In addition, with the ATMs reusing deposited cash, our self-service channel will be more readily available to serve our customers."
Using the deposit automation capability of Diebold's Opteva Flex Performance Series ATMs, customers can complete rapid, envelope-free cash and check deposits. This streamlined experience delivers the convenience of teller-like transactions at the self-service channel. With the implementation of full cash recycling capabilities, the ATMs will also reuse customer-deposited cash for withdrawals, extending UniCredit's cash cycle and enhancing ATM availability. To accept and recycle cash, the ATMs validate deposited notes, detect counterfeits, check note fitness, and sort and denominate cash for dispensing.
"With cash capacities three to four times higher than standard deposit automation terminals, Opteva Flex Performance Series ATMs enable cash management efficiencies and promote ATM uptime," said Dave Wetzel, vice president and managing director, Diebold Europe, Middle East and Africa. "Coupled with cash recycling capabilities, the higher capacity of the ATMs will reduce staffing needs for UniCredit, as well as third-party courier and service costs for managing and replenishing ATMs."
Diebold will deploy 210 ATMs to UniCredit's fleet this year, including 160 cash dispensers and 42 cash recycling ATMs. The company is forecasted to install and implement an additional 380 ATMs in both 2014 and 2015, including 130 cash dispensers and 250 cash recycling ATMs each year.

OmniVision Launches 1/4-Inch 8-Megapixel Sensor with Video-in-Video Support for Mainstream Mobile Devices
Compact and Low-Power OV8858 Delivers Best-In-Class Pixel Performance
SANTA CLARA, Calif., Nov. 9, 2013 /PRNewswire/ --OmniVision Technologies, Inc. (NASDAQ: OVTI), a leading developer of advanced digital imaging solutions, today announced the OV8858, a new 1/4-inch 8-megapixel PureCel(TM) image sensor for the rapidly growing mainstream smartphone and tablet market. The compact and cost-effective OV8858 PureCel(TM) sensor delivers dramatically reduced power consumption and best-in-class performance, making it a highly competitive solution for the next-generation mobile devices.
"Industry analysts expect the 8-megapixel sensor market to grow to about 440 million units in 2014, reflecting year-over-year growth of 20 percent[1]. While there are a number of factors that contribute to this anticipation, the main driver is 8-megapixel cameras for mobile devices transitioning from a 1/3-inch optical format to a 1/4-inch optical format to meet consumers' demand for thinner and more cost-effective phones and tablets. On top of that, mainstream mobile devices are expected to upgrade from 1/4-inch 5-megapixel sensors to 1/4-inch 8-megapixel sensors in order to benefit from increased resolution while maintaining the same optical format," said Kalairaja Chinnaveerappan, senior product marketing manager at OmniVision. "The OV8858 is designed to respond directly to our customers' needs in this environment. In addition to delivering industry-leading performance, the OV8858 offers low module height with a wider CRA, increased power efficiency for better battery performance, and simplified deployment of video-in-video functionality. The combination of these benefits and performance enhancements put this sensor at the top of its class."
Compared to OmniVision's previous-generation 1/4-inch 8-megapixel sensor, the OV8858 delivers a number of performance enhancements, including dramatically improved full-well capacity (FWC) and sensitivity for enhanced high- and low-light performance. It also offers a significant reduction in power consumption and form factor.
The OV8858 is equipped with a special video-in-video (ViV(TM)) feature, which allows the OV8858 to stitch together images from the front- and rear-cameras, and send the combined image to the host ISP. In ViV mode, users can capture a portrait scene perfectly alongside their own face, record video while narrating for high quality video blogging, or utilize the feature for video conferencing. This is made possible by a special input MIPI receiver on the OV8858 that can accept image data from a wide range of OmniVision image sensors designed for front-facing camera applications with resolutions of 2-megapixels and below, thus saving a camera port on the host ISP. Furthermore, features such as independent lens correction, color compensation and the option to select various window shapes for ViV have been added to increase the quality of the user's experience.
The OV8858 supports an active array of 3264 x 2448 pixels (8-megapixel) operating at 30 frames per second (FPS) for zero shutter lag to enable high-speed photography. The sensor is capable of recording 1080p high definition (HD) video at 60 FPS, or 720p HD video at 90 FPS, each with additional pixels for electronic image stabilization (EIS). The OV8858, when paired with OmniVision's latest 2-megapixel sensors, can provide full resolution ViV snapshot images at 15 FPS and preview ViV video at 30 FPS.
The OV8858 fits into an 8.5 x 8.5 mm camera module with a build height of approximately 4 mm. It is currently available for sampling and is expected to begin volume production in the second quarter of 2014.

Alongside Science Fiction, the band released a free iPad app which features a video game-like navigational interface t that acts as a portal to content from the band, including, photos, videos, and streamed live performances. Content in the app is not static, and will be kept current by the band in an "episodic" fashion, with new music and videos appearing as updates. The app operates on iPad 2 and later versions, and will also serve as a testing ground for new methods of distributing music. It is intended to be not just a gateway for Science Fiction, but to the Singhs in general.
Throughout, Science Fiction's sound is an atmospheric and richly textured aural environment that reflects Visconti's touch, and spotlights The Singhs' dynamic musical interplay. It was tracked primarily at Q Division Studios, which has a more than 25-year history at the center of the Boston area's music scene (it relocated to Somerville in 2000), with clients including Aimee Mann, James Taylor, Graham Parker, Morphine, and many more. The album was recorded through vintage analog boards onto ProTools, and then mixed back to analog tapes that were used for mastering by the late George Marino at Sterling Sound in NYC. Science Fiction's engineering team also includes Ducky Carlisle, who recently won a Grammy for Buddy Guy's 2012 release Living Proof.
