Price fluctuations on computer equipment? Mon Jun 14, 2010 10:20:00 AM#124529Perm Link
Prices on RAM, and to a slightly lesser extent, LCDs, seem to fall much more slowly than the prices on hard drives, Flash-based products (UFDs and SSDs), Motherboards and CPUs. Is there a "valid" reason for this? (Manufacturing costs, difficulty of making it, et cetera..) Is it just another "price holding" thing?
I know that LCD makers have been called out on price holding a couple times now, but I wonder how much it's still going on. Also, RAM prices have actually climbed quite a bit in the same time that prices on all other computer parts apparently have fallen drastically. Does anyone have some insight into this?
