Version 4 Will Be Released in December

I'll be coding this week to get a big push for Version 4.

Please give me all the features you'd like to see in Version 4. I haven't done development in a bit but since I finally got my main development software up and running again, it is time to go for broke.

Get them all down now before the release. Version 4 is a ground up rewrite and a huge conversion will have to be done to port over Version 3 stuff. ASEville Version 4 is on hold, but the Version 3 site will remain until an update is made.

I want a chatting box.

Make sure to add :

1. Can Edit a Message with no time frame.
2. Be able to customize your own layout on a thread.[like on rpg forum]
3. More Things To Buy

No chatroom (this is a forum).
There will be no more items to buy.

Editing will be timeless for most forums.

What I'm working on is a new rating system. I haven't decided on what to do just yet, but we'll see.

There is an ignore featured right now, look at the friends list area.

ASEville already does that... but don't use it now until the Version 4 component comes out. Even so, there are tons of other free services that do that already.

As much as it pains me to say this, I think integration of Anime Threads needs to happen, or they need to get their own specialty forums. Too often there end up being posts about music, movies, games, etc. that could fit very well into the forums at ASE Labs. I mean, the ASE Labs gaming site was integrated, wasn't it?

Just a thought that might help the organization of the site a little better.

Also, ideas ahoy:
Tighter ASEville integration. For example, as it stands now, in the profile page it says what systems one has on ASEville. I'm thinking that the profile page should show the thumbnails of the systems themselves rather than a link to the systems page.
Also: A different way to view prior posts in a topic when posting. More like an expandable menu rather than a small scroll menu.
I would like it if the Gems could stay.
Since HTML has been disabled in posts for a while now, perhaps remove the option entirely from the add reply page?
A more comprehensive search engine.
Finally, navigation links in the "Add Reply" page.

Less Forums on the main page. For example, move the Testing Forum to be a subforum of the Introduction Forum. Perhaps merge Chit-Chatty and Anything Goes again. Or maybe merge Chit Chatty into Members' Only (call it Chit Chatty, but keep the log-in obligation). I personally suggest the former rather than the latter, as some good discussion goes on in Member's Only. Make Safe Mode a sub-forum to Artistic Creation or eliminate it. Finally, clean up some of the Anime Topics (by which I mean mostly the Cowboy Bebop one), and stick them all as a sub-forum to the "Other Anime" forum (I'd rename it, of course). Merge the Manga Forum with the "Other Anime Forum". Alternatively, make all of the Anime Forums sub-forums to the Television Forum. Finally, merge the "Fan Fic" forum with "Artistic Creation," as they largely serve the same purpose anyways.

I have some ASEville ideas floating around as well, just so you know.

These ideas are good, but I'm more concerned with code features. What both of you are talking about is logistics which is fine, but that's not on the table right now. Those things are easy to do after the release.

ASEville Version 4 is not being worked on until Version 4 has been released. The feature set will be completely different from Version 3. ASEville Version 3 will remain up for historical reasons and to grab your old data if you want it.

A new thread will be created for ASEville Version 4 when the site is upgraded.
