Google Unveils Prototype Glasses Old Tue Apr 17, 2012 5:37:14 AM #246258 Perm Link
According to reports, Google unveiled their prototype “wearable computing” glasses to the public on Wednesday and gave potential customers a glimpse into the future. What was allegedly a top secret endeavor by the company to create “internet connected” glasses has allowed them to pull in front of their competitors in this fast growing field. Allegedly, the glasses are designed with a small, transparent display screen that is situated above the wearer’s eye and would be capable of showing data or even maps. It has been reported that, using voice commands, the wearer would be able to access the data or simply call a friend.

Reportedly, Google has gathered some of foremost experts in this area and they are part of Google X, a previously kept, secret lab within the company which is accountable for the development of these kinds of projects. It has been reported that, not only does Google possess some the leading researchers who specialize in “wearable computing,” but they also possess the essential data component to capitalize on this new market, in addition to Google Maps. Allegedly, questions remain whether the public will embrace this new technology, but initial feedback has been positive.
