Approved memory brands for ASUS --- ? Wed Sep 21, 2005 7:45:01 PM#13338Perm Link
WOW -- HI there everyone ! -- Yup -- another "newbie" to all this <giggles> Hope this is a semi-intelligent question. MOST of the current motherboards seem MORE than a bit "differential" to specific brands and positions/matchings of memory. ANYONE HAVE A CLUE ?(of course, other than calling ASUS or trying to use their <NAI> "new and improved" (REALLY ?????) ... website to find something.... as to what recommended memory brands REALLY work well ? First new system in quite a while and I am TRYING to be careful and conscientious as a good BOEING engineer would, to put this together like a shiny new 7E7 ! Choices so far are ASUS A8N-E (but taking peeks @ today's clip of the A8V Special Ed. from Japan) ... Antec TX640B w/ upgrade to black fanless PSU prototype w/ didital readouts on frontcase ... ASUS EN6600TD/128-256 (haven't decided which one) ... AMD (Select Graded) 64/3000+ 1G/FSB, Seagate Barracuda 160SATA/NCQ, Plextor 740A DVD (just arrived today !) ...and FINALLY, got off the dime and made a decision on the cooler I wanted -- looked EVERYWHERE for like an eternity to find Swiftech that was ACTUALLY FOR SALE <ha ha ha ha ha>, and this AM found MCX64-V o/a/p, @New-Egg !! and for not a bad price either. Got a REALLY good idea that changing the fan to Silverstone FN82 (the co-op 80/92) model will be EVEN QUIETER and bring in more air! They are ALMOST as quiet as SilenX stuff ! Anyway ... that leaves the subject of this article ... WHICH MEMORY ? -- some odd comments overheard surfing are shaking my faith that as good as ...(heck OCZ is GREAT !) .... Um OCZ seems to give ASUS fits a lot of the time. Crucial's "Memory Selector" is OK I guess... but don't know enough about their reliability and history ... and Corsair... ????? their website is like getting stuck taped to the ball inside a pinball machine. !! Yikes !!! I don't care HOW good their products are ! I'd really like to USE OCZ but forgot today to ask them what kind of association they have w/ ASUS. so ... thought I'd ask some of the EXPERTS rather than just sit here and scratch my "bunny ears" [giggles] Anyone having a suggestion (pref from EXPERIENCE) or @ least from GOOD heresay, speakup !!! Thanks for the chance to post this concern here -- somehow I'm guessing I'm NOT the 1st one to have this question.
Since building/assembly is somewhat imminent, PLEASZE feel free to e/mail anything you have to say -- firstname.lastname@example.org !
