Can anyone recommend some good First Person shooter games for PC. I got my kids Crysis-Warhead for Christmas and my 12 year old already beat it. I don't allow them to play online, so the recommendations need to take that into account. They also have a few of the Unreal series games and a few of the Delta Force games from Novalogic.

Thank you.

I was wondering about Crysis. For such a highly reviewed game, it proved to be rather easy. Not to mention, the actual adventure/game was rather short I thought.

Sorry to double post. I have been looking at this Half Life 2 you both recommend.
I notice there is an Orange Box edition or something like that? And there is also an Ultimate Edition? Or have I been misinformed? Oh and now I see a Half Life 2 "Episodes"...what the fuck?

Wel, I would only recommend the Orange Box if you wanted all the games it had.
It contains:
Half-Life 2
Episode One
Episode Two
Portal
Team Fortress 2

The Episodes are just a continuation of Half-Life 2, all Single Player, and Portal is another nice game where you use portals for all sorts of neat stuff. The only game on there that you wouldn't like is Team Fortress 2 because it is an online Multiplayer game, which as you stated in your first post, you don't allow them to play.

You can either get it for $29.99 online through Steam:

http://store.steampowered.com/sub/469/

or pick it up at your local video games store, another option is getting it for your Xbox360. Whichever you prefer.

The next option is just getting Half-Life 2 stand-alone for $19.99:

http://store.steampowered.com/app/220/

Also, happy to be of service.

Its Worth it to get the orange box.

And to Elaborate More on These "Episodes" Are Technically Half life 2.5, Continuing the Series but With Shorter, more Frequent Games.

Well, shorter games. This is still Half Life.
Left 4 Dead is pretty sweet, even in single player. Fallout 3 is pretty good from what I hear (I haven't yet played it, though).

Damn slow down people. I got Half-Life 2 for my Kids (just the stand-alone version). I have played it a little and it is "pretty neat". I don't much like the storyline play myself. I am more into shot anything that moves type games as are my two boys. I have also found that we are getting "stuck" in certain areas and finding it difficult to get through to the next area or section etc.

FroogleDoop,
We have Unreal Tournament, Unreal Tournament Game of the year and Unreal 2004. In my opinion those are the best first person shooters I have ever played. IS there a new one out? I thought I saw something about it.

ExShinobi,
My 12 year old thought a few parts so far in Half-Life 2 were "pretty gross"(his own words). Even after the gore in the Unreal games they play, half life is a little more "graphic". To be honest he actually gets nervous and scared sometimes playing these games and will ask for me to get him past certain parts. I try not to laugh at him. He is pretty sensitive.
My 15 year old is not as affected.

To All,
We only have PC. No XBOX, No Playstation. My kids have a Wii and GameCube is all.

I agree and yes I don't allow them to play online, Tornado. The main reasons are all the chit chat that goes on is sometimes pretty "rude" and all the cheaters out there ruining the games. They have a great time simple trying to beat the game one on one. We do sometimes play on my network against each other in a LAN game.

Sorry for the double post.

But Than I Would Also Recomend The Serious Sam Series, Sure The first ones are a bit Old, But fun as hell, You May Want to Change The Aliens From Blood Spewing Monsters, To Flower Vomiting Creatures.

I think I have this figured out. Unreal 2007 is now known as Unreal 3.

From the reviews I have read, most liked Unreal 2004 better than Unreal 3. On reviewer said:
"If UT2004 was a game on steroids, UT3 is on anti-steroids: a Vitamin B."

I wonder if/when Epic will come out with a new version of the Unreal series?

No mention of Gears of War or Gears of War 2? Anyone played those games? Both by Epic as well.

GOW for PC is decent, though I found the game very short, and beat it on its hardest level of difficulty in less then 15 hours. Online once again is awesome, but as said, they aren't allowed online. I have UT3 for 360, and I love it.

The problem with GoW on PC is that it didn't transfer very well. Much like (the first) Halo on the PC, the PC version is definitive, but their are better games.

After what Tornado said, it might not be a bad idea to relase it for PC. Maybe it will improve. Sort of like the Halo series has.

By they way. This has been a great topic with tons of information. I really appreciate the vast amount of input from you all. Thank you so much.

Keep any additional information coming.

Back to topic. I found Unreal 3 for 14.99 online. Not a bad price.
I'll get back to reading more reviews etc.

Oh, and Tako...my kids have "real friends", not online ones. The ones they have online through email and instant messengers are actual friends they have in real life. I'm not sure if you meant one or the other.

UT3 took UT2K4 and made it worse.

How EPIC takes a genre as simple as UT and makes it worse is beyond me.

Everyone still plays UT2K4 instead of UT3 for that reason. UT2K4 is fun.

Fallout 3 is a RPG, less of a FPS (much less).

But Portal is a fun game to do. It is a rental one, I beat it in a couple of hours. It is a really nice puzzle game.

2014 is going to be a good year. More content, more streamlining. Be a part of history!
