Version 4 Feature Request Thread

Post any ideas or comments that you think should be included into the new ASE Version 4 codebase.

I have a bunch of ideas but I'm eager to hear everyone else's!

I can't remember the differences Version 3 has on Version 2. Lemme mull it over.

Shinobi, those will be put in a modification, not the base code. I'm still thinking about it.

I'm currently working on the user stuff right now. Registration, passwords, and all that jazz. Now is a good time to give me ideas on that.

I had an idea. Why not, in the ASEville part of the site, have a section for each member who has stuff on ASEville. Like an ASEville version of the profile page, set up similar to the ASEville index page.

ASEville's Version 4 will be drastically different than Version 3 in ways that I'm not sure of.

Thankfully with the module system, your idea is implementable with ease.

You should allow a bit more customization. Text format, color change, size change, curious if your going to use [B code] and if you already use some type of code to do all this. could you add a bar in like to the side of the posts or the top like you do when makeing the topic when you can add smilies into the topic.

Version 4's ASECode system allows for greater customization of text than Version 3...

You can do format and size right now with the [BIG] [SMALL] [LEFT] [RIGHT] [CENTER] tags.

I'll probably do some sort of javascript helper for adding ASECode like you suggest.

Color selection won't ever be allowed due to the various themes that use different background colors.

point taken. Are you going to allow an uploader to customize backgrounds? Like i knew before in ver 1 or 2 you could change it to like starfield or other things, but I am curious if you could allow a personal uploader, as in i could take my Speznet Lol picture and use that instead of already presented backgrounds.

Yep, one of the planned additions is a fully customizable style per member. I'm not actually sure how that will work out, but it'll be after the release I'm sure.

I also do not agree with the page stretch of the anime extended network. It should be listed under one Anime thread and then broken into sticky's for the more popular animes. there is really no reason for there to be a list of anime titles on the front, it stretches the pages.

you should more or so make it Anime, then Manga, then whatever else, shouldnt be called American Anime NEtwork, should more or less be suggested under a different name.

Just a thought.
