What is there to discuss? The series took a dump midway and became boring.

Old InuYasha sucked, and new InuYahsa sucks even more.

Inuyasha is a terrible anime. This applies not only to plot, but to storyline, character development, inner meaning, intellectual purposes, deep thought process and over all produciton quality.

Inuyasha has no inner meaning. It is exaclty everything you see on the surface and has no particular benefit to society. Its primary function is for the entertainment of the masses through an easily understandable Arch type, the quest myth.

Inuyasha has almost no character development. Inuyasha is a bad ass who may have a kinder side but really has no deep though that went into the contruction of his pyche. Kagome is a whiney little girl who cant do anything for herself or anyone else, she is nothing beyond that. Miroku is a lecherous monk, Sango is on the verge of being a dyke. This is as deep as their aspects go, no further. There's really very little that I can say to explain their pyche since they don't really have one. They are not believable characters, you would never know someone like that in the real world - with such a one track personality.

Inuyasha has no real ending. Takahashi san appeared to have been mystified by a shiney object and forgot whatever it was she was going to do with Inuyasha. Thus is spans far over a hundred episodes which serve no purpose or add anything to plot or character development. When it ends, it is abrupt and nonsensical, leaving a very unfinished feel to it.
Add all this with the incredibly poor production quality with about 5-10 frames per 5 secs, and you've got one absolutely awful anime.

I cant stand insipid little fantards who worship the ground Inuyasha walks on, and yet when you ask them what NGE is, they look puzzled and tell you they don't like that kind of thing. If you don't know anything about anime, don't worship a character and then pretend to be an expert on Japan. [Which I know they all do, I've seen them do it.] They say "Kawaii Neko Neko Inu!" and think they've mastered the japanese language. Naniyuutenne sonai yo! Nameton no ka nen! You know what, I speak japanese, and I'm tired of people pretending they do too ... it annoys the hell out of me, because I put in years of effort just to listen to little girls ranting about how knowing the word "chibi" makes them fluent. I know no one ever said anything about that, but I've seen it happen, I know how fangirls operate. So explain to me, why is it that you all love Seshomaru so much? He's completely one dimensional, and has no real emotion at all. I dont understand the attraction to a character with no personality. You know what? No, he doesn't belong to you silly fangirls, he's copyrighted. Also, another newsflash for many I'm sure, but you cannot marry Inuyasha, nor can you have his "luv puppies", accept the fact.

I hate InuYasha, I don't understand why anyone would ever like it, at all. There's this unrealized sexual tension between InuYasha and Kogome that's drawn out over about 800 episodes, and it's fucking annoying. Also, they always end episodes on a cliffhanger, leaving the 13-year-old girls who stay up late to watch it unable to go to sleep afterwards because they're too busy wondering what the ramnifications of InuYasha catching a glimpse of Kogome's breastasisis at the spring will be. Thanks, assholes.
Beyond that, the plots are formulaic - on the episodic level, the plot is usually "There's a monster. One of the party is under even greater threat than the rest from this monster. Usually it's Kagome. Inuyasha leads the gang to rescue the fallen. If it's Kagome, sexual tension ensues. If it's not Kagome, her seeing Inuyasha's loyal and nice side renew her feelings for him anyways (these always wane at the beginning of the episode due to some perversion - usually only perceived, so the punishment is unjust and preteen guys can sympathize). The renewed interest in Inuyasha leads to sexual tension. The End."

The characters' actions or plans often defy simple logic, just for the sake of adding action. It's been a long time since I forced myself through an ep so I'm dry on examples, so I'll make one up...
If someone broke into my house and wanted to fistfight me to the death, it would be like me walking outside with him formally and doing so, rather than grab the gun or knife and taking it to him. Yeah, it gives you an excuse for a better plot/better fight scene, and some measure of this happens once in a while in TV series or movies, but InuYasha did that kind of stuff a lot, if I recall correctly.

Sometimes I think the framerate is even lower on that show than it is on most anime. I even think they intentionally drop it during action scenes so they don't have as much work to do. The story was designed to never end (There were and always will be more shards to find even if the pearl was kind of small) so they could capitalize on the inexplicable following the show developed for as long as possible.

As a result of this, there is zero character development. None. Nada. Not fucking there.

We don't actually get too many of them, but a lot of anime are made strictly for profit. Just like TV shows here (reality, sitcoms, they all use it), the creators will use the formula that attracts the largest crowd of drooling fans yearning to spend their hard earned money on DVD or other merchandise. InuYasha is one of these, that's why it's so formulaic and designed to go on as long as people will watch it, it's was just created to make money (I can't comment on the original Manga, however, because I don't know too much about it beyond the volumes I own from my InuYasha phase). Also, it's aimed at a younger audience (at least in America) and we're all a little too old to be apart of that bracket anyway.

Seems rather silly to discuss/rant about a show to a forum devoid of any fans of it. But hey, do what you want.

Huh? Signature? What's going on with that signature?

There once was a time when Inuyasha topics were to this forums what RIAA/Microsoft news is to slashdot. Basically, the lifes blood of the site. Those days are long long over, as well as the great juggalo wars and the once great rule of her majesty Tweak.

Rumiko Takahashi has done a few:

Inuyasha (action)
Ranma 1/2 (sex comedy)
Obnoxious Aliens (never seen it so I don't know)
Maison Ikkoku (romantic comedy)
and the Mermaid Saga (macabre, horror)

I watch Inuyasha, but I'd say that is more towards wanting to see it through to the end than actually enjoying it, similar to when Sonic X was on TV. I also watch it in the same annoying way as when I watched Sonic X.

Michael: Jodie, how's my schedule look for today?
Jodie: You've got a conference and dinner party at the Japanese Embassy regarding wildlife protection.
Michael: Oh, yeah...sorry, but I'll have to cancel that. I'm heading out to save America!

As the majority of you don't care for the series anymore, it can't hurt to give you some of the events that have happened as the series now reaches its conclusion:

Rin dies and Sesshomaru has to go back to the land of the dead to return her (Sesshomaru's mother think's he's grown a might odd)
If I recall, by this point Kikyo had died, so, Kohaku is with Sesshomaru by this point

All but one of Naraku's incarnations have died, including some you haven't met, but no matter, you haven't met the one that survived (he produces hallucinations).
The Tessaiga has absorbed the Tensaiga, and because InuYasha can now master his demon side, Sesshomaru is "cool with that, yo."

Sesshomaru has shown significant signs of humanity and Totosai will make a special weapon for him soon.

Kanna showed signs that she didn't want to die (making her more than just a demon of ether) and may have given Kagome a clue to how to destroy Naraku's heart (which he keeps inside of him now).
Kagome's gotten into a more of leadership role, and with Kikyo gone, it almost seems to suggest InuYasha's gotten pussy-whipped.

In short if you didn't just watch Sunrise's skimmed and restarched ani-manga, you'd probably have a much better opinion. The manga is just about reaching the end, so, barring that Snape kills Dumbledore, the ending should be in progress now (saving Takahashi wanting to make some type of record, your joke here)

I stopped reading the manga just a little after Kikyo died. The guy who was translating it's website is no longer available.

I'm glad Kohaku is with Rin now. I had a feeling. loti. Sesshoumaru's collection grows. Think he'll adopt Shippo one day?

I agree it was okay at first, but to many same storylines it got boring quickly. I guess that's what happens when money is the reason most of these things are made anyways.

Eh...I'm never going to say that Inuyasha is this work of art of the anime world, but I like watching it. The same way I like watching movies like Batman Forever. They're fun, in a sort of..."this really sucks, but it's okay" way.

Batman Forever was more like, 'this sucks... but! No wait, it just sucks...'

2014 is going to be a good year. More content, more streamlining. Be a part of history!

Oh my god. I miss one night. And it is the last two episodes. And I really don't want to watch the whole series again. Son of a bitch.

Michael: Jodie, how's my schedule look for today?
Jodie: You've got a conference and dinner party at the Japanese Embassy regarding wildlife protection.
Michael: Oh, yeah...sorry, but I'll have to cancel that. I'm heading out to save America!
