Recipes Anyone? Old Mon Aug 6, 2007 11:34:25 PM #40204 Perm Link
This thread is probably going to die, like really fast, but I thought I'd give it a try. haha

I don't know about anyone here but I really enjoy trying out new recipes. ESPECIALLY dessert recipes.

One of my brother's favorites is this pudding like stuff I make. The original recipe I saw on tv but it was slightly different.

I just call this 'chocolate'.

2/3 c. milk,
3 tbsp sugar
(heat)
add 1 beaten egg,
1 c. semi-sweat chips
blend till chocolate melts
remove from heat
add 1/2 cup blue berries (rasberries and huckleberries are good too)
chill

Anyone have a recipe or just a tip they'd like to share?

e.g. 'seasoned rice vinegar makes a good salad dressing' or 'crumbled ritz crackers make an AWESOME icecream topping (especially with plain ol' vanilla)'

If you ever use self-rising flower negate any baking soda or salt in your recipe because self-rising already has that. I ruined two batches of cookies that way and couldn't figure out why until somebody told me that.

I don't cook but I love it when someone else does.

Fried Chicken:
Mix 3 c. of flour, 1/2 c. Creole seasoning mix, salt
Mix 5 eggs and tobasco/chalula/tapetio until eggs turn reddish orange

Dip chicken fillets in egg mix and then in flour mix x2 or x3 (depending on how breaded you want your chicken). Cook in hot oil until golden brown. Be sure to try one so you know whether or not to add salt or more creole seasoning. Cool on plate covered with paper towels.

It's awesome with homemade macaroni and cheese.

I cook my hamburgers on the stove in a pan bc it keeps all the flavors inside the meat...I also use a lot of garlic bc it makes everything amazing.

I love frying potatoes...

Sry can't give any recipes bc they have secret ingredients.

I almost always modofy recipes I find and when someone tries out the dish and they're like 'oooooh awesome, can I have the recipe' I give 'em the recipe all right, but not MY recipe.

But I've been nice on here and given complete recipes. lol

This one here is a cross between a danish and a sopapilla.

4 pkg (normal, don't get the jumbos) crescent rolls
2 lg pkg cream cheese, softened
1 1/2 c. sugar
1 stick butter, melted
2 tblsp honey

Lay 2 pkg of unrolled crescent rolls flat on large jelly roll pan (or cookie sheet, as long as it has raised edges)
Mix cream cheese, sugar, butter, and honey
Spread over crescent rolls
Lay other 2 pkg of crescent rolls on top.
Sprinkle with cinnamon
Bake @ 350 until top is golden brown
Serve with vanilla ice cream

I usually make some good pastas recipes.

1 lb of pasta.
~1 tbl spoon of pesto.
Handful of parmigiana cheese.
Fresh garlic chopped.
Oregano and other italian seasonings.
Regular marinara or meat sauce.

Make the pasta in a normal way while heating the sauce in a saute pan. Then mix the pesto and the other ingredients into the sauce mixture. When the pasta is done, cook it with the sauce for about 2 minutes. Serve hot... YUM.

That sounds yummy. Definitely gonna give that one a try.

Chili Verde

Put one 5 lbs pork roast with 1 medium sized chopped (yellow or sweet) onion in crock pot
Season with black pepper and salt
Cook on high for 5 hrs
Drain fat and shred meat
Add 2 cans chooped mild green peppers and 1 can green enchilada sauce
Wait 2 more hrs
Serve with beans, rice, and cheese. Sometimes (but not always) chili verde is too soupy for tortillas.

I don't like cooking for just myself. At least, not most of the time. Especially bceause a lot of the meals I like to make end up coming out in mass quantities so I end up eating left overs all week.

Roast a large green chili under a broiler until the skin blisters, remove skin, remove seeds, chop finely, add crushed garlic and salt.

Serve on warm tortillas or, as I do, on toasted sourdough bread with mayonaise.

Boiled Eggs

1 pot of water
2 medium sized eggs

Turn stovetop to high. Let eggs boil for around twenty minutes. Take eggs out and remove shells. Serve with salt and pepper.

That will change your eating habits.

Oreo cookie balls
1 package of oreo cookies ( do NOT use the double stuffed)

1 package of cream cheese ( the package that comes in the box not the
round container)

1/2 - 1 package of milk chocolate almond bark (or any other chocolate
candy type coating)

Directions:
Crush oreos into extremely fine pieces, add cream cheese and blend
until smooth ( there should be no white showing). Roll into balls about
the size of a rubber bouncy ball, and dip in melted almond bark. Let
dry on wax paper.

Tips: melt the almond bark a little at a time because it hardens so
quickly.

These are always a big hit!!! My family loves them
