Last night a bunch of my friends were smoking weed around me. I think I got secondhand, but not too noticably.

I got grapes for Christmas from my cousin in CA. It's a pretty good thing that I broke down and opened it before Christmas because it would have been HELLA embarassing opening that in front of my relatives down here.

I was with my friends, yes. Whether they decided to smoke or not was not my choice, so don't twist my words. It has no resemblance to what you do. Smoking weed is a stupid and idiotic thing to do, and, to me, it shows that you can't have a good time on your own, without the help of some illegal drug.

Very self righteous statement from some one who is friends with people who smoke weed, and, furthermore, even stays in an enclosed spaced with her friends that smoke weed. You do have a choice to stay with your friends when they choose to do that. You chose to stay with them.

I hope when you get older you realize that this condescending attitude toward people who use drugs does not win you friends or admirers. I'm not telling you that using drugs is an okay pass time or that it's something you should be okay with. I'm just telling you that as you get older you will realize that these substances and people who use them will come into your life, and just as they respect that you do not want to participate in some of the activities they do you should respect that them and their decisions. As an aside, this is assuming they do respect your decisions and do not pressure you in any way. This is also assuming you share something in common with these people that would make a friendship worth while. I couldn't see myself being friends with some one who smoked pot every night of the week because I doubt we'd share much in common and I doubt we'd ever have time to hang out. But I would at least be courteous and try to make the best of the situation.


For the record, I'm about to turn 19 years old. I've never used an illegal substance. I have never consumed any alcohol besides a sip of wine for a catholic communion. I don't plan on consuming any alcohol at least til I'm 21, but probably beyond that as well. It is a personal choice of mine and has as much to do with things that have happened in my past as my plans for the future. I do not consider anyone who drinks prematurely or chooses to exercise their right to drink when they're 21 lower than me and I definitely don't speak to them that way. I attend parties and go to bars with friends, but don't get drunk. They respect the fact that I don't drink. And I respect them and their choice to drink.

My point in all of this is if you think it's a stupid decision to smoke pot then that's great. I agree with you. It's never been something I have been interested in trying as well. However, sarcasm and a condescending attitude toward some one and their choices isn't going to make them change their mind. There's no need to be bitter.



Be comfortable with who you are and the decisions you choose to make.

Considering that I had no choice, because I was in a car, and they were driving? Not much I could do, was there?

I had a negative attitude because of the fact that,well, Doomzies just gets on my nerves, and he made the same assumption, that I was willingly hanging aorund with the people who were smoking. I chose to hang out with them, because we were going out somewhere, but there's not much I can do when they're driving down a highway and started smoking, is there?

I am not a courteous person, and I'm not going to be nice to random people on the internet for no reason. I don't respect you unless you earn my respect, and these people haven't done so.

I will never sugarcoat anything - I say exactly what I think. I usually come off as a complete bitch, but that's often because people aren't used to my blunt approach. If I don't need to say something nicely, I won't. Simple as.

It's really not that hard to call some one to pick you up. You're telling me that your friends don't respect you enough not to smoke around you? I'm not telling you to be nice to people on the internet or even to be nice at all, just to realize that not everyone is going to share your view. And that just because you choose not to smoke weed doesn't make you a better person than some one who does choose to, because judging from the tone of your previous posts in this thread, I think you believe that.

Have you even told your friends that it bothers you? If you haven't then why are you complaining? You're just making it worse for yourself, you're the one putting yourself in those situations. And if you have said something to them then why don't you remind them when they start to do it in the car or wherever that you don't like it. Seriously, if they don't respect that, they're not worth your time. Do you really want to get it on your record that you were in a car with your friends smoking pot...even if you didn't, the cop will only see it that way.
So I have plenty of friends who smoke pot, and they all respect me. I never even notice that they do it anymore because they don't do it when I'm around. Then again, I'm a different situation. I used to smoke, every fucking day for 3 years, and my current friends are aware of my situation. I don't want to be around it because it brings back bad memories. Also, not only do they not smoke it around me, but they don't even carry it on them when I'm around, because I told them if I went to jail or got something on my record because of them I would kick their asses. And they have seen what I am capable of so they know not to mess with me.
But still, if you haven't told them that it bothers you and don't intend to, quit talking about it here...because until you do that, and until they respect you, you're not worth our time.

I know yours was obviously a reply to Pancakes but damn you need to fucking say something! They're not going to know unless you say something. You might think "Oh well they're going to think I'm a bitch." Well fuck it, would you rather be a bitch or an idiot? And I don't care where you were, you should have said something. If they didn't put it away and respect you since you're their friend and all, then maybe you should have told them to drop you off somewhere. If you really feel so strongly about this like you say, then you would have no problem telling them that it bothers you.

It's not entirely hard to find an exit or a gas station. And it's not entirely hard to speak up and say you're not comfortable with the situation. They're your friends, not people you just met. Although I do find it odd that your friends wouldn't know that you do not and have not smoked before.

In any case a sarcastic tone does not necessarily have to be condescending. And if you can't pick out where you think I would have gotten that impression by re-reading your own posts then don't worry about anything we've been talking about here. And you're right, I was trying to state that your self-righteous attitude wasn't impressing anyone but you. But you don't care so we don't need to go any further on that.


The only thing I wanted to make sure you understood was: choosing not to smoke pot does not make you a better person than some one who does choose to smoke pot.

I'm well aware of that - I wasn't trying to say I was better. I just pisses me off when people have nothing better to do than talk about them smoking/having plans to smoke pot. (like above).

And these were old friends - friends I haven't seen in 1-2 years. They weren't aware of the fact.
