Oz looks at Kierca, his face shading a deep red as he then glances away. "You're the first person I've ever met whose face has remained within my mind. . . From the first time I saw you. . . I couldn't shake the image away. . ."
"No. . ." Oz replies, almost under his breath as they step into the forest. "Is it alright if I ask you how you became a werewolf. . . like. . . what happened?" He frowns slightly, his brows partially knitting together.
"oh... well.. i suppose not... you've been in my life for the longest now in several years so i suppose it's only fair?" she sighs "i was 18...i had a betrothed....i...i didn't want him, hated him in fact.... and had arranged for a meeting with him at some point to tell him myself that i'd like to call off the wedding. he agreed of course but..." she frowned, clearly upset "it was stupid really... we arranged to meet on the night of solstice.... a full moon being one of few lights we'd have... i snuck out of my home unnoticed..." kiercas breath hitched at this point.
"when...when i arrived on the hill we chose to meet at...i...i thought i saw a demon..feasting upon his corpse and i screamed but i stood still, unable to move as it turned and slowly walked towards me...it was stupid... really it was... but i started to walk towards it as soon as i saw it was but a large dog...that's when it stood... and i saw what it truly was..." she says quietly, glaring at her own hands from her lap " a monster."
"it circled me... i was too frightened to make a sound let alone move and that's when it struck, it bit me on my side and the world turned dark for a few minutes... when the world cleared the beast was gone and i was left with a corpse near my feet."
He listened, from beginning to end, picturing everything clearly before his eyes. There were so many emotions. And he almost felt sick. He could only imagine how she felt. . .
Oz looks at Kierca, his eyes widening just the slightest. He glances away, staring ahead, his hand moving over to take hold of hers as they walk. He says, “You’ve had quite the life, huh?” And tries to force a smile on his face.
her breath hitches slightly and she turns to stare at him, confused before shaking her head and smiling " not really no...i've never left russia and the only excitement was....the four years i became insane..." she shrugs.
Oz looks at Kierca, understanding what she had meant, and looking ahead once more. He pulls her slightly closer to him, hand still holding tightly onto hers. He wanted her to know that he was there for her. And he didn't plan on leaving any time soon. . .
"so i can kill you?" she suggests " so i can escape from you? so i can devour little woodland creatures and create an army of predators?" she shrugs "do i need a reason to be in a forest other than to be free and out in the wild again?" kierca asks, tilting her head.
"No. I suppose not. But you could have come here any time you wanted to ya know?" Oz chuckles, lightly smiling at her as he arches a brow. "It's not like I was keeping you captive or anything." He stops in his tracks. "Oh dear. It didn't seem like I was, did it!? I do apologize!"
she shakes her head at this "not at all!....ok so maybe a little bit....but i'm a wild animal you know! no don't start laughing, i am!" she huffs, crossing her arms over her chest " it's just that.... nobody ever really wanted to come into the forest with me.... not even when i was little.... they used to call me a witch sometimes because i clibed the trees and the animals would play with me.... now people call me a monster just because i live in in caves and i climb trees to hunt from..." kierca sighs.
"i suppose i just wanted some company in a place i'd be familiar with?"
"I understand!" Oz beams at Kierca, his tail still wound together with hers as it moves in happy motions. "I actually feel honored." He chuckles, his shoulders bobbing up and down as he does so. "And I think it's nice to just have company. . . you're the first person I've actually talked to in over a thousand years~" Which was the truth. The most Oz would ever talk to someone was to ask where he was or where he could stay for a night.
"i'm 78 years old now... and this is hell to me so.... i guess this must be nice for you, to have something constant? everything i've ever loved has died and i hate it.... i was 18....i'm STILL 18.... but... i'm 78 too..." she frowns before her eyes go wide "oh my GOD! i'm 78! i swore i was 73 yesterday..." she frowns.
she'd clearly forgotten her own birthday in her lapse of madness.
"Wow, you're very old aren't you?" Oz teases her, smirking for a moment before chuckling. "And I suppose it is nice sometimes. There are times when I wished I would have stopped to hold a conversation with someone. But I promised myself I would never get attached to anything or anyone." He shrugs. "Yet, somehow, I broke my own promise. . ." He looks at her, smiling.
"yes i'm old! i've managed to forget four entire years of my life and by that i mean i've forgotten four entire birthdays!" she whines "you have to celebrate with me now! so c'mon~! it's just about beginning to turn spring so the bears should be getting out of hibernation~!" she chimes "i've never shown anyone else what they look like when they first wake up... they're very silly things...but...well..you...you don't have to... we can just sort of... stand here if you'd like?" kierca says, tilting her head.
"I would love to see~!" Oz grins from ear to ear, his grip on her hand tightening. "And I would also love to celebrate your birthday!" His expression suddenly becomes very confused, "What is a birthday, exactly?" This time, he tilts his head to the side, and uses his free hand to rub the back of his neck.
"you've never had one? well... i guess this is for the both of us then! it's the day you were born or created i suppose... and every year on that day you celebrate it with friends and family and people you l-love!" she huffs happily, sniffing the air, ears perking up and nodding before she drags him off in a certain direction.
Friends. Family. People he loved. Oz thought about this for a moment. Is that why he had never had a birthday before? Because he never had any of those? Is that why he gets to have one now? Because he does have someone he loves? Smiling, Oz chimes, "I like the sound of birthdays~"
"good! now shush cat! they get grumpy when they first wake up so come here and hide with me~!" she chimed, ducking behind branches and trees until she came to a flat rock, near an open cave.
bears were stirring inside and she could hear them, yawning and grunting. she yipped slightly with glee.
