You know quite exactly that I don't live in America Ok, I had a pretty good idea that big companies are much to influencial in the US, but I probably didn't dare imagine that this could be influenced like that...
Now comes a difficult question: Where were US citizens when their rights and the capitalisticly important free market "expired" in favour of fake, monopolistic capitalism ? (I guess the best answer is "Watching in horror or ignorance while being dependant on the big cooprporations." ?)

Bullshit on the whole story. No god damn way it's possible with a Prius. It realistically doesn't get anywhere near 50 MPG. Most owners struggle to get 35 with them. In addition, lithium ion batteries are heavy bastards. Strapping more in there will hurt fuel economy more than anything (which is probably why Toyota settled on the number that are in there). The only cars capable of getting that high MPG that easily (or similar) is the 1.9 L Turbodiesel VW Golf, 1.4 L turbodiesel Lupo (just lower the turbo boost and engine compression) and Honda Insight (modify the ECU to be less peaky and have the electric motors work at cruising speeds).

They are charging up the car from a wall outlet and running on batteries as much as possible. It is easy to claim high MPG when you barely use any fuel.

Remember that most of this stuff is market spin and 100 MPG looks pretty good to people.

Yeah, but thats still about as practical as water to a drowning person. GM made a car a few years ago called the EV-1. It got infinite MPG. Why? Because it was basically a car with a golf cart motor. Regardless of how the electrics work, the fact that you have to plug it in at night makes it useless.

I thought water was pretty good at drowning people.
