You can't get gaming laptops for under $700. You either go used, or you get a mid-range multimedia laptop with just enough power for watching movies in HD and pretty much nothing else. New laptops with the ability to actually run most modern games decently start at around $900. Actual gaming laptops start at around $1300. What I would do is save a bit of money to extend your budget to $900, and then pick up a mid-range M1730 used, which is still powerful enough to give many current gaming laptops a decent run for their money (so long as you are lucky enough to get one with twin 8800s for under $900, which is possible. Even the twin 8700 model is decent enough, if not as good as the M1710 with either of the GTX cards). You might not find this feasible, and I admittedly always had an unhealthy obsession with the Dell XPS line, and the M1730 in particular; so take my advice at face value.

That reminds me, I need to get a new job. I desperately want an M1730. My M1710 is getting on its last legs at this point.

Also, your link is broken.

Michael: Jodie, how's my schedule look for today?
Jodie: You've got a conference and dinner party at the Japanese Embassy regarding wildlife protection.
Michael: Oh, yeah...sorry, but I'll have to cancel that. I'm heading out to save America!

He's right. Even gaming on Linux on my Asus Eee isn't great, but I'm not much of a gamer myself.

Toshiba Media Controller
Empower yourself to share videos, music and pictures from your PC’s media library with any compatible home entertainment network—minus the hassles. Hard Drive Impact Sensor
This model features Hard Drive Impact Sensor technology—a complex system of hardware and software designed to detect sudden movements (such as when your laptop starts to fall off the table) and "park" the heads of your hard drive before damage occurs. It works faster than you can blink to help protect your laptop and all your files!

HDMI Port for High-Def Output
This laptop includes an HDMI port, so you can hook up your compatible HD display and watch high-def movies on the big screen — right from your laptop.

harman/kardon® Speakers
Get ready to wrap yourself in a luxurious blanket of sound, with fatter bass tones and crisper, more penetrating highs. If you love your music, immerse yourself in gaming action, and really get into a good movie, these speakers are for you.

Resolution+™
Add definition to your older DVDs and games with Toshiba's Resolution+™ technology — an exclusive algorithm designed to deliver contrast and color enhancements in real-time. Utilizing the advanced graphics processing capabilities of your laptop, standard definition video is converted from a low to a higher resolution so you can enjoy sharper image clarity and contrast on your HD display.

Genuine Windows® 7 Home Premium
Windows® 7 Home Premium makes it easy to create a home network and share all of your favorite photos, videos, and music. Get the best entertainment experience with Windows 7 Home Premium.

That's not a gaming laptop.

■Intel® Core™ i3-350M Processor

This means you aren't able to do any major multimedia stuff on it.

■Intel® Integrated Graphics

This means that you won't be able to play any games, period.

A good gaming laptop should have a discrete graphics solution - Tornado's right about no games with that laptop. Same for the processor, you need something more powerful to do what you want to do.
