Sigma Systems Scores First TM Forum Order Management API Certification

Latest OSS/J Management Standard Provides First Common Interface for Order Management Functionality for Next-generation Operators

NICE, France, May 19 -- Sigma Systems, an industry leader in Advanced IP Service Fulfillment solutions, today announced at Management World 2010 that its Service Management Platform has received the industry's first TM Forum certification for Order Management API and Web Services-certified next-generation OSS (NGOSS) framework. The certification establishes Sigma Systems as the first OSS provider to fully interoperate with other certified BSS and CRM vendors.

The OSS/J order management API - called Information Framework JSR-264 - is the only open standards-based API interface available for order management solution providers. This new TM Forum API eases interoperability among back-office and CRM vendors, resulting in speedier service rollouts, improved operational efficiencies and reductions in deployment costs by as much as 30 percent.

"We commend the TMF for helping to define a standards-based API that provides consistent, yet flexible, abstraction between the OSS/BSS layers," said Brian Cappellani, CTO and vice president of Engineering for Sigma Systems. "Information Framework JSR-264 will remove a major bottleneck that slows the introduction of new services: interoperability among back-office solutions. By being the first IP service fulfillment provider to achieve this certification, Sigma Systems uniquely gives operators worldwide the choice to deploy a best-of-breed order management solution for multi-play bundles and next-gen services."

Sigma Systems' portfolio of service fulfillment solutions for telecom and cable operators also enables the provisioning, activation and management of integrated IP-based services, including digital TV/IPTV, residential and business VoIP, broadband and mobile offerings. Core to Sigma Systems' end-to-end service fulfillment solutions is its award-winning and SOA-based Service Management Platform. Sigma Systems' SMP allows next-generation operators to move services out of silo-based environments and onto a single service platform, enabling them to deploy new services quickly, create service bundles and identify up-sell opportunities.

The TM Forum develops widely-adopted management standards for OSS/BSS vendors and communications service providers and delivers worldwide awareness and training events. The forum provides practical solutions, guidance and leadership to transform the way next generation service providers and network operators create, deliver and charge for digital services.
