CA Technologies EVP Ajei Gopal Describes How the Cloud Will Transform the Future of IT

Cloud Extends CIO Control, Offers Greater Choice for Building Dynamic IT Supply Chain to Deliver Competitive Advantage

LAS VEGAS, May 17 -- CA WORLD -- CA Technologies (NASDAQ:CA) Executive Vice President Ajei Gopal outlined the future of IT as organizations become more cloud connected and industry goes through the first major IT paradigm shift of the 21st Century. Speaking to thousands of CIOs, IT executives and IT professionals in today's morning keynote at CA World 2010, Gopal explained how the cloud transforms the way we manage and secure information technology.

"Instead of being a monolithic supplier of technology services to the business, the IT department becomes the manager of a dynamic supply chain of internal and external resources that delivers services to the business and its internal and external clients," Gopal said. "When that happens, all rhetoric about aligning IT with the business becomes irrelevant because now - for many organizations - IT is the business. That's the paradigm shift.

"We're at the dawn of a new era. A set of business needs - increased agility, cost effectiveness, environmental sustainability - is coming together with a set of innovations in technology and delivery models to enable another true watershed moment in IT. And like the paradigm shifts of the past - mainframe, distributed and Internet - those organizations that embrace today's paradigm shift will prosper," Gopal said.

To take part in the paradigm shift, organizations must embrace the cloud. The cloud enables CIOs to think differently because it expands their options in how they deliver the best service to the business and ultimately provide a competitive advantage for the company.

CA Technologies has the solutions to enable the cloud-connected enterprise, including a new product family which will be announced today - the Cloud-Connected Management Suite. This suite of products will extend your management reach into the cloud and ease your transition by integrating with our existing products.

CA Technologies this afternoon also will announce a set of new and enhanced products that will set a new standard in virtualization management - a critical capability for organizations as they evolve to a more agile business.

Gopal emphasized that although we are entering the Cloud era, each innovation in IT is accretive. Existing technologies, including the mainframe and the elements of the distributed environment, will continue to be essential elements of the datacenter for organizations around the world - and CA Technologies will continue to support them.

Other CA Technologies capabilities that support the cloud-connected enterprise include:

--  Service automation solutions that provide closed-loop automation and
orchestration of provisioning, assignment and configuration that spans
virtual and physical resources and workloads up and down the
application and infrastructure stack across multiple vendors, for both
      on-premise and into external services.
--  Security solutions that help enable cloud adoption in three ways: by
extending enterprise security systems to support cloud applications,
platforms and infrastructure; by providing security technologies for
cloud providers whose services require identity and access management
as part of their delivery; and by providing security services from the
      cloud.
--  Project and Portfolio Management solutions that can help determine the
optimal way to deliver IT services to the business, including whether
it's done in-house or with services from outside the company. This is
available as an on-premise or SaaS application.
