SOYO Announces New DRAGON Ultra Motherboard For Pentium 4 CPUs

-- New Model Features SiS 645DX Chipset, 533FSB Support,

DDR333 Memory, Digital Sound, USB 2.0, 10/100 Ethernet, Embedded RAID Chip

FREMONT, CA (May 6, 2002) - SOYO Computer, Inc. today announced a new addition to its DRAGON Ultra motherboard series for Intel Socket 478 Pentium 4 CPUs, which features the new SiS 645DX chipset.

SOYO's SY-P4S645DX motherboard with SiS 645DX/961 chipset maximizes system and memory performance with 533MHz FSB support, DDR333 memory, USB 2.0; on board RAID and 10/100 Ethernet, and many advanced and easily customized overclocking features. The board delivers the memory bandwidth and optimal performance for Intel's latest 400/533MHz FSB Pentium 4 processors.

SOYO's DRAGON-brand motherboards are defined by six standard features, which are found on all boards.

The "D" in DRAGON represents DDR memory support. The SY-P4S645DX DRAGON Ultra features 184-pin DDR SDRAM 2.5V DIMM sockets with support up to 3GBs of 200/266/333 DDR memory.
R = RAID (0,1) on board. The SY-P4S645DX features an embedded HiPoint IDE-RAID chip to provide ATA133 IDE RAID at Level 0 (data striping), Level 1 (disk mirroring) or Levels 0+1.
A = Audio on board. The SY-P4S645DX includes a CMI 8738 audio chip to provide 6-channel digital audio. The sound chip eliminates the need for a sound card, saves an expansion slot, and also supports optical output & SPDIF output. SOYO is bundling a SPDIF audio card with the board, which turns your computer into a high-end entertainment system with optical and coaxial connectivity.
G = AGP Pro Slot. The new DRAGON Ultra features one Universal AGP Pro slot, which supports 1x/2x/4x mode
O = Overclocking Features. Users can customize all DRAGON series motherboards by adjusting the CPU FSB, core voltage & multiplier, or AGP Pro voltage through the Award PCI BIOS setup. The FSB can be set in 1Mhz increments through the BIOS setup.
N = NIC 10/100 Ethernet on board with a PHY controller.

The SY-P4S645DX is expandable with six 32-bit Bus Mastering PCI slots (V2.2 compliant). The board features an on board Ultra I/O chip, which supports two RS-232 serial ports (16550 UART compatible); one parallel printer port (SPP/EPP/ECP mode); one FDD port (Supports 3 mode, 1.2/1.44/2.88 MB FDD; an IrDA (infrared) port with optional cable for transceiver, one game port, and six USB 2.0 ports (2 rear, 4-pin header). The board also includes two PCI bus mastering ATA133 E-IDE ports, and an Ultra DMA 66/100/133 IDE port, which supports four independent channels to accommodate eight IDE devices, including two for RAID.

Support is also included for on-board hardware monitoring, and includes SOYO's Hardware Health Utility to streamline PC system management. Among the many hardware monitoring functions are CPU fan speed and temperature monitoring through a thermal sensor; WOL (Wake On LAN) function to simplify network management; software power-off controls and remote and/or alarm power-on control.

SOYO bundles its 8-in-1 Software CD Pack with each board. It includes Norton AntiVirus 2002, Norton Ghost, Adobe Active Share and Acrobat Reader, Vcom AutoSave, WinDVD, eWalla text & voice messaging software, and Imagemore photographic collection.

The SY-P4S645DX will be bundled with a sigma box peripheral that includes four front USB 2.0 ports. The sigma box occupies a standard 3.5-inch drive bay.

SOYO will offer single board and volume discounts. Single board list price of the SY-P4S645DX is $180 (US) with volume discounts available.
