Lightcrest Joins Lucid Imagination Global Partner Program for Open Source Search

Rapid Growth and Diversification of Data Drives Customer Interest in Apache Lucene/Solr and Spurs New Market Opportunities

LOS ANGELES, May 10 -- Lightcrest, a provider of managed hosting and high-volume enterprise search implementations, has broadened its solutions portfolio by joining the Global Partner Program led by Lucid Imagination, the commercial company for Apache Lucene and Apache Solr search technology.

Lightcrest was selected as one of the seven inaugural reseller partners for Lucid Imagination worldwide, and will begin to offer Lucid Imagination's products, training, and support services immediately. Lightcrest is the leading provider of hosted application solutions, and operates under the belief that sub-second search, data classification, machine learning, and e-discovery are features that all enterprises should have access to.

"Look, there a lot of search solutions out there; but few cut the mustard when it comes to delivering sub-second performance at a reasonable price point. Lucene/Solr is the only platform that gives us the economy of scale needed to provide enterprise-grade search within our hosting model", said Zach Fierstadt, CEO of Lightcrest.  "By leveraging our expertise in deploying search within the enterprise, Lightcrest will be able to provide search solutions to smaller and mid-sized businesses that currently find proprietary platforms to be cost prohibitive."

"We have been working with Lightcrest to implement a new search platform based on open source Apache Solr," says Eileen Chin, CEO at FinanceWorldNetwork.com. "We knew Lightcrest had built large search deployments for industry leading organizations, but we didn't want to invest in a costly proprietary solution. Solr/Lucene gave us the functionality we needed, and Lightcrest made good on its promise to deliver us the same level of service it provided to its Fortune 500 clients.  We are looking forward to the alliance formed by Lightcrest and Lucid Imagination.
