Radware's Alteon 5-series Taken to New Heights

High-end on-demand platform software update increases performance transaction capacity in Application Switching - lowering TCO considerably

MAHWAH, N.J., May 3 -- Radware (NASDAQ:RDWR), a leading provider of integrated application delivery solutions for business-smart networking, today announced that it is providing a new software version to increase the performance and transaction processing capacity of its Alteon® 5-series platform to provide new levels of performance to enterprise and carrier customers.

Radware is introducing a new software that will substantially increase the performance transaction capacity of its Alteon 5412 application delivery platform. Unleashing the full power of Virtual Matrix Architecture (VMA) technology - an optimized distributed processing software architecture - combined with the OnDemand Switch® scalability and operational simplicity of the platform, increases TPS dramatically and thus, results in considerably lower total cost of ownership (TCO).

At the onset, the Alteon 5412 offered faster response times and support for high-end environments delivering up to 20Gbps of application switching throughput capacity and up to 340,000 Layer 4 transactions per second (TPS) which is 7x more processing capacity as compared to older Alteon platforms. Today, with the new software update, the Alteon 5412 increases those levels of up to 535,000 TPS in layer 4 and 300,000 TPS in layer 7. This represents a performance capacity improvement of 57% and 30% respectively.

"Such high levels of TPS, coupled with excellent latency and response time metrics, allow carriers and enterprise customers to execute their next generation data center projects - more specifically, applications with large amounts of small transactions and packets such as financial information exchange, DNS, AAA and VoIP will greatly benefit from such performance," stated Nir Ilani, Product Marketing Director, Application Delivery, Radware. "Furthermore, this is another proof point for the best TCO of Radware's On Demand Switching architecture: major performance upgrade without any need for new hardware purchases and with complete investment protection."

By integrating such ADC platforms into the network, enterprises and carriers are prepared for the next generation data center - becoming better adapted to support key drivers and initiatives such as: rapid mobile data traffic increases deriving from the rise of smart phone usage, cloud services, consolidation and virtualization. The 5412 application delivery platform is designed to support:

--  Mobile carriers - needing low latency and high TPS for steering mobile
data, , and scalability to efficiently grow to accommodate the
      increased adoption of smart phones.
--  Consolidation of next generation data centers as they need flexibility
to grow capacity and lower cost per TPS.
--  Virtualization and cloud services: which require dynamic resource
allocation and on demand ADC capacity and services - without the risk
of hardware replacement or service interruption.

The Alteon 5412 OnDemand Switch delivers optimal business value by helping customers reduce capital expenditures and capacity planning risks as well as eliminate application delivery overspending by providing capacity and service scalability on demand based on a "pay-as-you-grow" model. Radware Alteon customers can reduce operational expenditures as the Alteon 5412 offers hassle-free upgrades with no downtime or need to restart the device. The product runs the same Alteon OS as previous models; thereby offering Alteon customers smooth migration to the new platform with the same proven operational simplicity and stability, without any risk or learning curve for integration into the data center environment. This combined with the lowest cost per TPS, the Alteon 5412 offers the lowest TCO.

Radware has incorporated the Alteon product family into its Business Smart Data Center solutions and strategy. The Alteon 5412 embeds Radware's on demand infrastructure approach ensuring Alteon customers can gain throughput and service scalability based on business demand.
