European Invention Enables Online Eye Contact

Today sees the official European launch of IRIS, a monitor with camera
reflection system that allows you to make real eye contact online. IRIS is
the cheaper and qualitative alternative to video conferencing. Iris2iris BV,
a Dutch company, developed the product.
IRIS is the only system that can be combined with any web conference and
video chat program. Whether you use Skype, Webex or Vidyo, IRIS enables you
to have real online eye contact. IRIS is also the only system for which the
'receiving party' does not need a device in order to have eye contact, and as
such it is codec-free. This provides a whole range of opportunities for, for
example, remote sales, healthcare and education, but also for online
helpdesks, contact centres and the communication between different offices of
a company.
IRIS can be linked to any Windows or Apple system. The user looks at his
monitor, but because of the mirror construction it is as if he is looking
straight into the camera. The product fits perfectly on every desk and can
also be used as a second monitor.
The Swede Jens Pind, COO of Danish kitchen giant HTH Kokkener A/S and
owner of Kiming A.B., is one of the first users. 'IRIS is a sturdy system and
is always ready to use, as it can sit on your desk. Everyone I talk to thinks
that having eye contact is very pleasant. They say they feel as if they are
actually sitting around the table with me. I was used to webcams, but this is
a totally new experience all together. IRIS is a perfect system to expand
