Alcatel-Lucent Scores Three First-Place Wins in the CTIA E-Tech Awards Presented at International CTIA Wireless 2010(R)

PARIS, March 25 -- Alcatel-Lucent (Euronext Paris and NYSE: ALU) received three first-place CTIA Emerging Technology (E-Tech) Awards at CTIA WIRELESS 2010® held this week in Las Vegas.  CTIA's fifth annual E-Tech Awards program recognizes products in 15 categories in the areas of mobile consumer electronics, luxury mobile, applications, enterprise, green solutions and network technology.

More than 80 prominent media and industry analysts judged the 300-plus entries submitted for the E-Tech Awards program this year. Products and services were judged on innovation, functionality, technological importance, implementation and the overall "wow" factor.

Alcatel-Lucent received first-place awards in the Network Infrastructure -- In-Building/Local Area Network Solution category; and Network Infrastructure -- Wide Area Network category.  In addition, ng Connect, spearheaded by Alcatel-Lucent, received a first-place award in the Enterprise & Vertical Market Solution -- Mobile Marketing or Advertising category.

Winning entries are:

LTE Small Cells In-Building Solution (Network Infrastructure -- In Building/Local Network Solutions) - The world's first LTE Pico Cell in-building solution will enable service providers to deliver higher indoor capacity and a range of wireless applications that ensure a consistent, high quality mobile data experience. As a member of the Alcatel-Lucent Small Cells family, The LTE Pico moves the base station closer to the mobile device, promoting faster, more reliable data connectivity. Additionally, it reduces strain on the macro-cellular network by offloading data traffic, providing a more efficient, cost-effective option for wireless network growth. 7750 SR Mobile Packet Core Gateways (Network Infrastructure - Wide Area Network)

The Alcatel-Lucent 7750 SR delivers breakthrough scalability and performance for 3G and LTE wireless networks, addressing the explosion of mobile data traffic caused by smartphones and netbooks. It forms the cornerstone of Alcatel-Lucent's "Ultimate Wireless Packet Core" solution which was unveiled at CTIA 2010.

In addition, the ng Connect Program, spearheaded by Alcatel-Lucent, received a first-place award for the LTE-enabled HumanKiosk(TM).  ng Connect Program members MediaTile, a leading provider of cellular provisioned digital signage, and Alcatel-Lucent collaborated to create an innovative interactive digital signage prototype called the LTE-enabled HumanKiosk. The kiosk can run digital promotions and includes video technology that can only operate over a high-bandwidth wireless IP connection enabled by LTE. A live in-store LTE video session allows consumers to ask immediate questions that can be answered by an off-site expert.
