Customer Service Improvement Is Focus of New Web Site Launched by Consumers Energy

JACKSON, Mich., March 23 -- Improving customer service is the focus of a new, redesigned Web site launched by Consumers Energy.

The address remains the same - http://www.consumersenergy.com - but there's greater emphasis on providing free and secure online services to the 6.5 million Michigan residents who are served by the utility.

Customers will find the following improved services on the new Web site:

--  Better user experience on mobile devices
--  The option of changing screen-viewing sizes
--  Accessible to hearing and visually impaired users
--  Receive the latest Consumers Energy news via really simple syndication
      (RSS).

"We've listened to our customers in redesigning our Web site," said Tom O'Masta, executive manager of customer operations for Consumers Energy.  "Customers will find the Web site easier to navigate, friendlier and more responsive to their needs."  Consumers Energy first offered a Web site in 1996.  Today's redesign is the third site enhancement by the utility.

An increasing number of Consumers Energy customers receive and pay their bill electronically.  The new Web site makes that option easier, saving customers time and money.

The new site allows customers to manage their account online via eServices at http://www.consumersenergy.com/eservices   Customer user name and password will remain the same for their eServices profile.  Customer eServices account information and payment options also will remain the same.

All online services still will be available:

--  View current and previous electric and natural gas bills
--  Report a payment or meter read and obtain your meter read schedule
--  Start or stop electric or natural gas service
--  Report a power outage and get service restoration updates.

Consumers Energy's new Web site will continue to serve as the host site for submitting job applications and resumes to the utility.  All applications and resumes previously on file will

continue to be available on the new Web site.  Consumers Energy is currently offering summer internships, and has a variety of full-time jobs that require varying levels of education, training and experience.

Consumers Energy, the principal subsidiary of CMS Energy, provides natural gas and electricity to nearly 6.5 million of Michigan's 10 million residents in all 68 Lower Peninsula counties.
