Enhanced "Tilt-to-Scroll" Technology Can Make Scrolling 360-Degree Photos Easier on Your Phone

INNOVENTIONS awarded sixth US patent for its RotoView(TM) tilt scrolling for mobile devices

HOUSTON, Aug. 24, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- INNOVENTIONS, Inc. has been awarded US Patent 9,424,810 for its RotoView "tilt-to-scroll" technology for mobile phone displays. The new patent, "View Navigation Guidance System For Hand Held Devices With Display," covers RotoView's unique Scroll Controller technology that guides and controls the RotoView scrolling without traditional scroll bars seen on the edge of the display. The patent also offers a wide range of general applications for Heads Up Displays (HUD) with automatic color selections and expanded functionality.

"Developers are adding tilt-based scrolling to mobile devices and applications to enhance the user experience by sharing immersive views of the world around us," said Dr. David Y. Feinstein, president and CTO of INNOVENTIONS. "This makes RotoView technology very suitable for tilt-based scrolling in popular applications like viewing 360-degree panoramic photos and videos, where the user navigates highly magnified scenery in all directions."

RotoView is the original tilt-to-scroll technology for mobile displays found in smartphones and tablets. The first RotoView patent family has been cited as prior art in 412 US patents. RotoView apps, including RotoView Photo Viewer and RotoView PDF Reader, use the technology disclosed in the new patent to efficiently scroll or pan large images and documents.

RotoView is easy to implement in mobile devices that use today's gyroscope and accelerometer sensors. It offers an improved user experience by allowing fast and precise scrolling with one hand. The Scroll Controller allows users to know exactly which portion of the large 360-degree image is shown on the phone's screen, without the need to glance simultaneously at both the horizontal and vertical scroll bars.

INNOVENTIONS' RotoView technology portfolio now includes six US patents, one European patent, and extensive API software for Android and iOS developers. INNOVENTIONS is seeking strategic partnerships with major companies to expedite development and deployment of the technology.
