Axion Power International, Inc., Releases DIY Off-Grid Solar Light Kit as first consumer-ready Product

NEW CASTLE, Pa., May 11, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Axion Power International, Inc. (OTCQB: AXPW) last month released a new Off-Grid Solar Light Kit, their first consumer-ready product powered by the company's patented PbC® Batteries.

Available for purchase online, the solar light kit mounts on a pole, but can also mount to a building. It is ideal for parking lots, farms, college campuses, outbuildings, parks or residential spaces in need of added outdoor lighting. Because the system works without connection to grid power, it provides a reliable option for emergency or supplementary lighting or as an added safety measure in otherwise low-light areas.

"For years, Axion Power has been testing, installing and utilizing PbC® Technology across a variety of energy storage situations," said Richard H. Bogan, Axion Power CEO. "We are excited to now offer a product that allows consumers to utilize the technology in their everyday lives without requiring installation by an expert technician."

Axion Power's PbC® Battery is the only lead carbon battery with an all-carbon negative electrode, making it a reliable solution for energy storage. The do-it-yourself solar kit works without connection to grid power. It is programmed to provide solar powered lighting throughout the night and rapidly recharge during the sunny daytime hours for use the very next evening.

Each kit includes two PbC® Batteries and wiring for configuration of a 24V series; solar charge controller pre-installed with fuse panel; weather rated pole mount outdoor battery/electronics enclosure; LED outdoor light; solar panel; and a timer/dimmer.

The lighting kit can be formatted to work indoors or fitted with a motion sensor in addition to the standard light sensor. Axion Power has been using this product at their facility in New Castle, Pa. for three years, and have seen little to no decline in battery power, further highlighting the reliability of the PbC® Technology.

Axion Power is also interested in developing partnerships at local schools, parks or government facilities incorporating and using the light kit as a demonstration project. Interested parties should contact info@axionpower.com.
