Rocana Addresses the High Total Cost of Ownership of IT Monitoring

Rocana Ops Features Improve Administration and Resource Utilization for Large-Scale Log Management and Analysis

SAN FRANCISCO, March 29, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Rocana, a pioneering operations analytics firm applying big data analytics to IT Operations, has announced new capabilities to its highly scalable, fault tolerant solution, Rocana Ops, to address the cost and data complexity of customers' Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) for IT operations monitoring. These key enhancements include centralized agent management, lightweight directory access protocol (LDAP) integration, and significant upgrades to its search engine.

Business initiatives such as Digital Transformation and the IoT are closing the gap between IT and the end-user, putting more pressure on CIOs as the link between efficient IT operations and revenue impact become more apparent. This elevates the importance of analyzing machine-generated event data and when combined with the cost, complexity, and analytics limitations of legacy monitoring tools is driving businesses to solutions that can effectively scale while delivering better insight and a lowering TCO.

Devilish Details Drive Costs Up
Services delivered by modern IT infrastructures are spread across thousands of distributed servers and systems. There are large, hidden costs and inefficiencies in managing large-scale deployments -- issues that organizations often don't realize until attempting to deploy solutions. Rocana Ops administrative and search features address these deployment issues:

--  Centralized Agent Management. Administrators now have a central location
for sharing agent configuration profiles and templates with full version
control for change management. Agent profiles can be deployed to
thousands of agents with change control processes through a single
operation in Rocana Ops. Agents are monitored continuously to ensure
data is being collected; admins are quickly alerted to error conditions
to remediate. Additionally, the centralized agent management feature
helps IT ensure governance requirements are being met, while
simultaneously freeing individual business units or teams to optimize
data collection for their use cases.
--  LDAP Integration. User roles in Rocana Ops can now be integrated with
LDAP, providing a single point-of-control for user privileges. This
enables both faster deployment, as there is no need for a parallel
infrastructure for user rights and roles, and improved governance and
        auditing.
--  Rocana Search. Upgrades to the Rocana Search functionality reduce the
system resources required by up to 50 percent compared to previous
versions for the same data volumes. The new capabilities also provide
organizations the ability to grow the size of their indexed data over
time, with minimal impact on the underlying system, making it easier to
deploy and scale-up as data volumes increase.
"IT Operations is only truly effective when teams are empowered to manage their TCO costs and able to capture and analyze 100 percent of their operational data," said Omer Trajman, CEO, Rocana. "By developing a solution designed specifically for the type of data we analyze, we've achieved significant cost savings and are changing the conversation in the industry about what's possible with IT operations today and tomorrow."

"Uniquely designed to manage machine-generated event data at scale, Rocana Search goes above and beyond competing solutions that are not optimized for that data set," said Eric Sammer, Co-Founder and CTO, Rocana. "IT operations teams traditionally utilize legacy tools to monitor data, many of which don't offer the flexibility to re-configure as the data set grows, or at least without a significant and detrimental effect on application availability and performance. They also offer poor trade-offs in terms of balancing CPU, memory, and disk utilization. Being smarter about the data set enables customers to use Rocana Search to more fully utilize their resources, which can have a tremendous positive effect on their TCO."
