LAS VEGAS, Jan. 6, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- NextVR, the leader in live-action virtual reality broadcast technology today announced that it will demonstrate the next evolution in high-quality, full 360-degree virtual reality content on mobile phones using the latest advances in the Qualcomm® Snapdragon(TM) 820 processor, a product of Qualcomm Technologies, Inc.

NextVR collaborated with Qualcomm Technologies, to port and optimize the NextVR video player for the new Snapdragon 820 that enables delivery of high-quality, live virtual reality content. Qualcomm Technologies will feature NextVR's new virtual reality content at the Qualcomm booth 8643, Central Hall, during CES.

"Qualcomm Technologies is a leader in delivering technology to enable mobile devices to display virtual reality content," said Dave Cole, co-founder of NextVR. "This new technology levels the playing field for mobile VR by putting flagship phones featuring the Snapdragon 820 ahead of the best currently available mobile VR devices."

Most mobile phones sold in 2015 and prior lack the internal capacity to deliver a truly immersive, sustained VR experience. "The Snapdragon 820 processor is optimized for virtual reality and the Android phones with this chipset provide no-compromise, state-of-the-art VR," Cole said.

"We've seen excellent results with NextVR's video player when demonstrating high definition 3D virtual reality videos, using our Snapdragon 820 processor for upcoming smartphones and VR headsets," says Tim Leland, Vice President, Product Management, Qualcomm Technologies. "We're excited about the astonishingly immersive 360 degree videos that users will soon be able to experience in mobile devices, using Snapdragon 820 with the NextVR player."

NextVR pioneered live virtual reality broadcasts, including the first-ever NBA game on Oct. 27 between the 2015 NBA Champion Golden State Warriors and New Orleans Pelicans.

Mobile phones featuring the Snapdragon 820 processor featuring NextVR's new virtual reality content will be on display during CES at the Qualcomm booth 8643, Central Hall.
