Endless Unveils The Endless mini To Bring The Next Five Billion People Into The Information Age

Priced at $79, Endless Solves the Cost Barriers to Computers in Emerging Markets

LAS VEGAS, Jan. 5, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Endless, creator of revolutionary Endless computer and operating system, today announced the Endless mini, the world's first fully functioning desktop PC designed/created to bring the next three billion people into the information age.

Priced at $79, the Endless mini is an elegantly designed desktop computer that's simple for anyone to use. Endless was able to achieve this incredible price by using an ARM architecture, the same processor commonly found in a smartphone, tablet and Apple TV.

While computers in the developed world are personal devices, computers in emerging economies are family devices, and so the Endless mini is designed to work well on any kind of television screen.

Low price is not the primary feature that Endless says its consumers want. The bigger obstacle facing people in emerging markets is one of internet connectivity. Their goal was to make a computer useful on limited data plans, and even without any internet at all. Matt Dalio, CEO and Chief of Product, says, "The mini comes preloaded with a 'miniature internet.' Health information, recipes, Khan Academy, Wikipedia are loaded inside of every device we ship. Internet is a barrier that is not being solved fast enough. Our goal is to make it so that the world doesn't have to wait for that."

Matt cites examples of current Endless users, "A few weeks ago I met Marcia, a high schooler in Guatemala whose life trajectory changed completely because of Endless. She was able to return to school, able to complete her homework with the information resources inside of Endless. She is now valedictorian of her class. When I visited Zaatari refugee camp in Jordan, I met a teenager who used Endless to create a local magazine that he circulates to the entire refugee camp."

Endless will also sell the mini in the United States, with a focus on areas without reliable or affordable internet connections. Shockingly, over 40 million Americans are unable to access the internet. Some live in rural areas with weak internet infrastructure, and others aren't able to afford the monthly cost.

As the world shifts online, Endless hopes this new product can be a key catalyst in bringing the unconnected into the information age. The Endless mini will provide people in remote areas of the world the opportunity to learn different languages, develop technical skills and build businesses. "Endless hopes to ignite innovation on a global scale," said Matt Dalio. "Two thirds of the world can now join the technology revolution." Matt concludes, "We wanted every person in the world to be able to afford a virtual library. We have been working towards this for years now, and with the Endless mini we achieved that."

Key features include:
The Endless mini is available in two different models and key features include:

--  Affordable: Built by world-class engineering talent, Endless mini is the
most affordable, fully functioning and elegantly designed desktop
        computer, at only $79.
--  Internet (Optional): Preloaded with over 100 applications, the Endless
mini is ready to use the moment you turn it on. Applications include
word processing, presentations, spreadsheets, games, Wikipedia, Khan
Academy, Health, Agriculture, Recipes and more.
--  Simple: Endless mini is super-fast and easy-to-use with an interface
designed to mirror the ease of mobile interfaces and the power of a full
        desktop OS.
--  Two Models: Available in two different models, one with 24GB of storage
and 1GB of RAM, priced at $79 and another with $99 32GB of storage and
        2GB of RAM
--  Safe: Built upon the stability of a Linux core, the Endless OS is one of
the safest operating systems in the world. Never worry about anti-virus
        software again.
"The Endless mini has the potential to deliver affordable desktop computing to the majority of people on the planet, addressing the digital inequality that affects billions," said Dominic Vergine, head of sustainability and corporate responsibility, ARM. "Based on ARM Cortex-A processor technology, the device shares the same engineering heritage as the world's mobile phones and we have been working hard with the Endless team to ensure that the product is as efficient, robust and capable as possible. This is truly a product that has been designed with its core audience in mind and we congratulate the talented Endless engineers on their ingenuity."

Additionally, Endless has announced new leaders in China, Brazil and Mexico to drive continued growth. Agustin Alaman joins as General Manager, Mexico, Ruben Berron, VP, Global Sales and Howard Lam, General Manager, China will focus on global expansion.

Agustin Alaman, General Manager, Mexico: He joins Endless from SAP, where he was most recently VP of Global Partner Operations, and Lenovo where he built Lenovo's consumer business in Mexico.

Ruben Berron, Vice President, Global Sales: Ruben joins Endless from Brightstar, where he was General Manager of Latin America. Ruben previously spent 25 years at HP, where he ran SMB for Latin America.

Howard Lam, General Manager, China: Howard was General Manager of Olympics Consumer Marketing for Coca-Cola China, as well as former Head of Marketing for both PepsiCo China and McDonald's China.
