DC-area Internet Entrepreneur Launches ServingVETS, an Exclusive and Secure Social Network for Veterans

SILVER SPRING, Md., Nov. 11, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Entrepreneur Jonathon Lunardi wants to help veterans enjoy a stronger sense of belonging on campuses and within their larger communities. That's why he chose Veterans Day (11/11) to introduce ServingVETS (http://www.servingvets.com), a new social media platform through which veterans can find and review local resources such as businesses and schools. Apple mobile device users can download the ServingVETS app from iTunes.

"Veterans trust each other's opinions and need a central location to record them," said Lunardi. "The goal of ServingVETS is to help universities and businesses improve their veteran-oriented services, while also giving veterans the knowledge to make informed choices about their time and money. We've assembled a great team of experienced professionals and advisors to bring this vision to life."

To sustain the growth of ServingVETS, an Indiegogo crowdfunding campaign is now underway. The crowdfunding effort will be pivotal in taking ServingVETS to the next level. The campaign's goal is to raise $100,000. Funds raised will primarily go toward developing and deploying version 2.0 of the platform, coupled with an expansion to Android devices, Windows 10 apps and Amazon apps. Moreover, a successful campaign effort will empower broader marketing and promotions and support the hiring of more staff.  ServingVETS is committed to hiring Veterans and Military spouses as the company grows.

Just $19 earns the contributor a "Virtual Veteran Memorial" perk - a way to give thanks and forever memorialize a veteran from any era on the ServingVETS platform. Other perks include VIP lifetime memberships, swag bags and crowdfunding training from Jonathon Lunardi, whose entrepreneurial track record includes the successful launch of 13 startup businesses.

ServingVETS is working on partnerships with several organizations, including the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV), the University of Oklahoma (OU) and the International Culinary Center. Education institutions receive a white label version of the platform, in addition to advertising space that will create a steady revenue stream for each participating school. Half of all ad revenue will be kicked back to surrounding schools to support veteran-focused student departments, clubs and scholarships.

"The revenue sharing program benefits our student organization tremendously and used to pay for events, t-shirts, family programs, and local veteran outreach." - Justin Cook, President of OU Student Veterans of America Club

"We see this as not only a potential great service for UNLV Veterans, but also an opportunity to help mold this platform into something useful for education institutions serving Vets everywhere." - UNLV Office of Veteran Services

ServingVETS encourages both for-profit and not-for-profit institutions to consider a partnership with ServingVETS as a means to demonstrate support for and give back to those who have served in the name of freedom.
