CPI Solutions Help SpareBank 1 Achieve Desired PUE with "Lego® Approach"
BUCKINGHAMSHIRE, England, Aug. 12, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Using what they call "The Lego(®) Approach," SpareBank 1, a Norway-based alliance of banking, insurance and holding companies, was able to improve its data center infrastructure and lower its Power Usage Effectiveness (PUE) thanks to Chatsworth Products' (CPI) flexible and innovative data center solutions.

SpareBank 1 teamed up with CPI and Coromatic, a vendor of data center solutions, to design a state-of-the-art data center tailored specifically to its organizational needs. The alliance wanted a solution that would fit into its existing environment and accommodate 200 kW of power and cooling to maintain the continuity of its operations.
To meet this unique installation requirement and to create the most efficient solution possible, SpareBank 1 selected CPI's Hot Aisle Containment (HAC) Solution, Two- and Four-Post Racks, Evolution® Cable Management and Accessories. This solution was chosen to help the alliance achieve its desired PUE goal of 1.3. CPI's HAC Solution completely isolates hot exhaust air from IT equipment and removes it from the room, resulting in more efficient cooling units.

SpareBank 1's new data center not only supports the 1,000 people located in the building, but also 6,300 more employees at 352 additional branches across Norway, and online banking and insurance systems for the alliance's 1.9 million customers.
