LOS ANGELES, July 9, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- The world's first in-theater gaming league, Super League Gaming, will give players around the country the unique opportunity to play side-by-side in movie theaters this summer. Super League is taking over 80+ theaters across 25 major U.S. cities for their Super League Gaming Summer Tour and is stopping in Knoxville at Regal Cinemas' West Town Mall Stadium 9 on July 22(nd).

Turning movie theaters into interactive gaming arenas for the first time ever, Super League has partnered with the nation's three largest movie theater chains -- Regal Entertainment Group, AMC Theatres, and Cinemark Theatres, as well as luxury chain iPic Theaters -- to transform video games into face-to-face, collaborative activities for kids and parents alike. Players talk, strategize, and compete on teams for league championship titles playing the popular game Minecraft, with more game titles to be added in the future.
The coast-to-coast, 25-Â city tour will run from June 15(th) through August 26(th) to introduce Super League Gaming's unique concept and get the word out about league gameplay, which starts with continuous 6-Â week sessions on September 14(th).
"Kids really want to get out of their rooms and start playing video games in a much more social, physical venue. Gamers play in the traditional first-person view on their laptops while watching a customized third-person aerial 'world view' with all players on the big theater screen. Each event is comprised of a 100-minute session that includes live team gameplay, individual battles and free time, while players work to climb an international leaderboard.

Minecraft, one of the the world's most downloaded computer games, lets players use their imaginations to build anything they can conjure up in a 3D world. The popularity of the game has exploded in recent years thanks to YouTube gamers like CaptainSparklez, a YouTube celebrity with over 8.6 million subscribers, and a founding gamer among the Super League team.
