LONG BEACH, Calif., June 2, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Epson, the number-one selling projector brand worldwide(1), has selected three winners of the "Epson BrightLink Projector Teacher Contest." Each winner will receive an Epson BrightLink 595Wi finger-touch interactive projector for their classroom.

The contest, which asked educators in K-12 and post-secondary schools to share their creative ideas for using an interactive projector in the classroom, garnered almost 450 responses. Winners were chosen based on their ability to describe unique uses of an interactive projector in the classroom, the practicality of implementing their ideas using real-life examples, and the impact of these ideas on students' learning experiences.

The winning entries suggested using the Epson BrightLink 595Wi projector to upgrade the school's designated "maker space," design underwater robots with students, and create and market new product packaging prototypes. To view the winning submissions, visit the Epson interactive projector website.

"We received a wide of range of creative ideas, which really shows the versatility of using the BrightLink 595Wi to help students learn," said Tom Piche, product manager for Epson K-12 Interactive Projectors. "We look forward to seeing our winners' ideas come to life in the coming months and thank all of the educators who shared their ideas with us."

The Epson BrightLink 595Wi is the world's first touch-enabled 3LCD interactive projector. The ultra-short throw BrightLink 595Wi delivers 3,300 lumens of color brightness and 3,300 lumens of white brightness(2) and features advanced connectivity options, PC-free interactivity capabilities, interactivity over the network, and more.

The BrightLink 595Wi is equipped with an external module that mounts directly to a wall or existing whiteboard enabling finger touch control and annotations. It supports gestures(3), up to six fingers at the same time, and dual-pen support. The BrightLink 595Wi projector also gives teachers more control with the built-in Moderator device management software, allowing up to 50 computers, tablets and other handheld devices to be connected via the network for ultimate classroom collaboration.

More about Epson Projectors
Epson 3LCD projectors deliver three times brighter colors than leading competitive projectors(4). Additional convenient and advanced features for educators include:

--  BYOD Collaboration: Epson Moderator device management software allows
teachers to wirelessly share and compare students' work from multiple
        devices, simultaneously(5)
--  Epson iProjection((TM)): Leveraging the Epson iProjection(TM) app,
teachers can present from most iOS Apple devices running iOS 4.2 or
later, including the iPad, iPhone and iPod touch, and most Android
        devices running Android 2.3 or later; wireless module sold separately;
Epson's unique Moderator device management software offers multi PC
        projection(5)
--  Extended Lamp Life: Lamps have extended life in economy mode, helping to
maximize presentation time; replacement lamps cost $79 through the
Brighter Futures program, providing a lower overall total cost of
        ownership
--  3LCD Technology: Features the latest 3-chip 3LCD technology to deliver
amazing, true-to-life color and detail for powerful presentations; 3LCD
technology also provides an energy-efficient light engine using
available lamp light to create stunning images, and in contrast to
1-chip DLP technology, 3LCD requires, on average, 25 percent less
        electricity per lumen of brightness(6)
As a leader in innovation and partnership, Epson also offers the Brighter Futures(®) program, a unique sales and support initiative available specifically for schools. Designed to help educators select and implement the best products for their classrooms while making the most of their budgets, Brighter Futures offers special pricing, extended Epson limited warranty coverage for three years, dedicated education account managers, and toll-free technical support for all Epson projectors and associated accessories.

Color Brightness Specification and Projector Performance
The color brightness specification (measuring red, green and blue) published by the Society of Information Display (SID) allows consumers to compare projector color performance without conducting a side-by-side shootout. With today's high definition content, teachers and students can display content with higher quality in brighter environments. For a truly impressive image, projectors need to offer both high color brightness and high white brightness. High color brightness is important for larger screen sizes and provides flexibility for a variety of screen materials. Without sufficient color brightness, images may be muddy, soft and lose detail, even in a dark room. For more information, visit http://www.colorlightoutput.com.
