World's No.1 Mahjong Game(TM) Comes to Canada First

SAN FRANCISCO, May 30, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- The world's No.1 Mahjong game*, which has entertained more than 30 million people worldwide, is today officially available as an iPad and iPhone app. It is being released exclusively in Canada prior to a general worldwide release. Mahjong, one of the world's oldest and most popular games, which some say originated as early as 500BC, is hugely popular as a Tile game in China, but is now played by people of all ages from across the world, online. In the last month, almost a million players from 215 countries, have played the game on the publisher's website.
"People have been asking for a mobile version of our Mahjong game for a long time," says Alx Klive, Founder, Affinity Media, publishers of the app and website. "We're thrilled to be bringing it to our friends and family in Canada, before anywhere else."
Alx Klive, who became known in Toronto dance music circles in the early 90s, as a DJ, and the country's first rave promoter, saw opportunities with the Internet early on, and began making websites in 1994 designing CityPulse News first website, and later initiating the world's first online crowdsourcing project - The Millennium Photo Project. Two years ago he spent 3 months driving his family from Toronto to San Francisco in an RV, to make the move to Silicon Valley.
"My wife and I both love Toronto, but the opportunities in Silicon Valley were too good to ignore any longer. It's been a huge move for us, and with our business, but since coming to San Francisco we've had opportunities we wouldn't have had back home. We do miss our friends (...and poutine) though."
The decision to release Original Mahjong(TM) exclusively in Canada, before anywhere else, was an easy one for the couple.
"Mahjong is the first mobile app we've released, and we've seen how other companies have chosen to release apps in Canada as a test market first. We were a bit nervous about... bugs, basically, and we realized if we released it in Canada first, we could get all our friends on Facebook from back home to test it out."
Original Mahjong(TM) is available today for free download, exclusively on the Canadian App Store. It was soft launched earlier this week to friends and family. At the time of writing, it has reached the Top 50 puzzle and strategy games on the Apple App Store**. An Android version is in the works for later this year.
For a limited time, while exclusively available in Canada, a 'hidden' price cut is in effect for in-app purchases. Users can get a reduced price ($1-2 off) at checkout, and should ignore the regular price shown.
