Fujitsu Drops New Fully Ruggedized Industrial Business Tablet

SUNNYVALE, Calif., March 3, 2015 /PRNewswire/ --

News facts:

--  Fujitsu delivers first viable alternative to expensive,
highly-customized, application-specific handhelds for hostile working
        environments
--  Street-tough FUJITSU Tablet STYLISTIC V535 has industrial grade
protection with the ability to tolerate drops, spills and dust-filled
        work conditions
--  Native Windows 8.1 operating system guarantees immediate integration
        into corporate environments
Fujitsu, a leading information communication technology company, unveiled a no-nonsense, fully-ruggedized industrial business tablet, the FUJITSU Tablet STYLISTIC® V535, today at Mobile World Congress. Designed to roll with the punches and absorb the bumps and scrapes that would normally destroy consumer-grade tablets, the 8.3" STYLISTIC V535 tablet stands up to almost anything its users can literally throw at it.

Complementing its tough exterior, the new STYLISTIC V535 doesn't compromise on the inside, either. Fujitsu has opted for the fully-featured Microsoft® Windows® 8.1 operating system so that organizations can run their Windows-based business applications natively, and uses the latest Intel® Atom(TM) quad-core processor. What's more, the toughened tablet is complemented with GPS and NFC.

Underlining its suitability for use in environments such as aviation, warehousing, retail and logistics, the Fujitsu STYLISTIC V535 also includes NFC technology, providing a convenient way to track inventory without the need to scan bar codes, as well as contactless authentication, which facilitates device log-on for users wearing gloves or other protective clothing. The STYLISTIC V535 also is built to operate within a wider temperature range than consumer devices, making it appropriate for diverse work environments and varying temperature conditions.

In designing its toughest-ever STYLISTIC, Fujitsu has not overlooked useabilty or durability, designing the tablet to perform well-beyond its ability to withstand water, dust and drops. The STYLISTIC has a bright, multi-touch, ultra-durable display as well as a user-exchangeable battery and optional docking or charging cradles, creating a comprehensive solution that adapts to different needs and user preferences.

Customers looking to implement tablets into specialized industrial settings also can choose the Fujitsu Smart Shell Concept. This is a range of user-exchangeable shells that allow the STYLISTIC to be more easily integrated into a work configuration. The Smart Card Smart Shell with SmartCard reader adds secure, hardware-based identification and authentication options. In addition to smart shells that enhance the security of the product, there are also smart shells for retail point of sale (PoS) environments. These smart shells enable use of PoS peripherals when the tablet device is docked as well as a mobile PoS and payment terminal when undocked. This enables mobile-relevant applications and services for "click and collect", clienteling, loyalty programs, in-store support and store associate tasking.

"The Fujitsu STYLISTIC V535 is a game-changer for the enterprise as the first industrial-grade tablet offering  enhanced durability for use in work environments and indsutries that require greater physical protection of devices," said Kevin Wrenn, senior vice president of Mobile Products at Fujitsu America, Inc. "Our standardized tablet is specially designed for working conditions where devices are often dropped, get wet or are exposed to dust - issues that typically prove fatal for a consumer-grade tablet."

Pricing and availability

The FUJITSU Tablet STYLISTIC V535 is available to order this quarter in EMEIA and North America. Pricing varies by region, model and configuration. Please see http://www.shopfujitsu.com/view/stylistic-v535 for details on the STYLISTIC V535.

It is powered by an Intel® Atom(TM) quad-core processor (including 64-bit support) and ships with Microsoft Windows 8.1 Pro or Embedded 8.1 Pro pre-installed.
