Educational RPG ChemCaper Set to Release in June 2015

SAN FRANCISCO, Feb. 25, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- ChemCaper - Petticles in Peril, a first-of-its-kind educational role playing game (RPG), will merge real playability with genuine educational value. Based on Cambridge University's Chemistry curriculum, ChemCaper has every aspect interlinked with the subject, and is set to bring new levels of entertainment and learning to educational games.

Founder and Group CEO of ACE EdVenture Studio, Anne Tham says: "We teach students the way they want to learn, not the way we, adults, think they should learn. Since students are so engrossed in the use of digital media, we decided not to fight them but to meet them there instead. One way of doing that is to replace the content of a role playing game with something that is educational and acceptable to parents."

ChemCaper allows players to explore the subject in a way far more relevant to them. With an interactive and engaging medium, concepts consistent with the approved syllabus are introduced through gameplay. In short, ChemCaper lets students learn and revise through play and exploration.

The idea of gamifying education was conceptualized by Anne and her team of educators pushing for change in education. Humanizing chemistry concepts and bringing them to life with interactive gameplay have taken learning to a different platform.

Under the umbrella of the Multimedia Development Corporation of Malaysia (MDeC), ACE EdVenture Studio along with 9 more Malaysian games companies will be showcasing their games at the Malaysian Pavilion at the Game Developers Conference 2015 in San Francisco.

"MDeC seeks to work with all manners of game development heroes to push Malaysia into the forefront of the Global Games Industry," says Hasnul Hadi Samsudin, Director of the Creative Multimedia Division at MDeC. "Our objective is to establish our position in the global marketplace as both a provider of quality game production and a producer of exciting games for multiple platforms."

The game features music by Norihiko Hibino, who composed the Metal Gear Solid series' award winning soundtrack, among many others. Nicholas Chong, whose experience in numerous Hollywood productions has been invaluable to the game, heads digital animation as well as creative direction. Greg Evans of Seeds Training brings his expertise in education and youth training to the project, further underscoring the learning aspect of the game.

"As strong advocates of innovation in education over the past 20 years, we wanted to create a disruption in the teaching of the sciences. By gamifying Chemistry, we're pushing the boundaries of how education is delivered. The big picture is enabling students to see the creativity in science, giving students back their confidence in studying science, and making it accessible and affordable to all students alike," Anne Tham added.

ChemCaper - Petticles in Peril is the first of five acts, to be released over the course of the next 3 years on all major mobile platforms. The game is the studio's first offering in a line of edutainment games, slated to include games focusing on Physics, Biology as well as Mathematics.

The beta version of ChemCaper will be unveiled at Booth 235 at the Game Developers Conference, Moscone Center, Main Expo, South Hall, from 2nd to 6th March; and Booth 494, Game Connection City View at Metreon, from 2nd to 5th March.
