Taking Flight: Morrison Innovations, Creator of the Affordable Nano Drone(TM), Announces Hugely Successful Crowdfunding Campaign for Redesigned Miniature Quadcopter

ROCHESTER, N.Y., Feb. 12, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- The holiday season witnessed strong sales of the CX-Style Nano Drone, the first iteration of the miniature quadcopter from Morrison Innovations. Now, the design team has put the finishing touches on an updated version of the tiny drone - packed with an array of new and useful features. To bring this quadcopter to consumers, the company launched an Indiegogo campaign that has already hit its funding target. More information on the campaign and its objectives is available at http://nanodrones.net/.

"The Nano Drone is a great introduction to quadcopter flight, letting new pilots learn the ropes and become comfortable with the technology," explained Robert Morrison, CEO of Morrison Innovations. "A modest investment - less than $50 - nets buyers a surprisingly powerful and responsive piece of cutting-edge hardware."

The new and improved Nano Drone features a bevy of design enhancements. First, the addition of top and side impact guards virtually eliminates the problem of blades flying off when the quadcopter bumps a ceiling or wall. Similarly, skid guards on the bottom make for safe and tangle-free carpet landings. While it's not indestructible, the new version is definitely sturdier and more forgiving.

Designers have also upgraded the flight mechanics of the Nano Drone. Three-speed calibration enables smoother lift and pinpoint maneuverability, while on-board six-axis stabilization software allows the tiny quadcopter to hover like never before.

Finally, the packaging of the Nano Drone has been totally re-imagined; rather than being disposable, the new packaging doubles as a protective display and storage case. That means no more storing the quadcopter and controller in a plastic baggie or drawer.

While the Nano Drone crowdfunding campaign concludes on March 13, it has already far exceeded its original funding goal of just over $15,000. Those funds will go toward the tooling, packaging, production and quality testing of the new quadcopters. Backers of Nano Drones' crowdfunding efforts can expect their perks to ship sometime in April.

Morrison Innovations has ambitions plans for its subsidiary, Nano Drones. The company intends to deploy an entire line of affordable quadcopters, from the entry-level flagship Nano Drone to full-size RC vehicles with built-in cameras. Those new to drone flight can therefore start small and work their way up.
