from Variscite [http://www.variscite.com ], based on TI's
latest Sitara AM437x processor family, introduces 1GHz ARM Cortex-A9 combined with quad
core Programmable Real-time Unit (PRU). The PRUs are ideal for offloading real-time
processing from the main Cortex-A9 CPU, managing deterministic tasks and supporting
dedicated industrial protocols such as Ethercat, Profibus, EnDat and others. The scalable
processing architecture alongside the rich industrial connectivity of the VAR-SOM-AM43
makes it an optimized solution for products targeting automation, robotics, controllers,
HMI and other industrial segments and applications.

Beyond its scalable processing capabilities, the VAR-SOM-AM43 features 2D/3D graphics
accelerator, DDR3, SLC NAND, eMMC, dual band Wi-Fi/BT with MIMO, dual Gigabit Ethernet,
USB, A/V interfaces and industrial operating temperatures. The VAR-SOM-AM43 utilizes a
standard SO-DIMM 204-pin interface to the carrier board.

"The introduction of the VAR-SOM-AM43 is yet another step towards extending
Variscite's wide portfolio of System-on-Module solutions to most effectively and
comprehensively meet the needs of the industrial embedded markets," stated Ofer
Austerlitz, Variscite's VP of Business Development and Sales, "Bringing a cost optimized
Cortex-A9 solution from TI, with all the accompanying industrial connectivity and
protocols, is a perfect solution for customers designing their next generation industrial
products."
