StrongBox is a network-attached storage (NAS) solution for unstructured data that provides a perfect balance of storage performance and economics. The patent-protected system architecture blends fast data access via disk in parallel with volume storage on tape media for the lowest cost per gigabyte. The new StrongBox NAS Generation 2 platforms expand the storage configuration for up to 65 terabytes of internal disk capacity - three times greater than first-generation systems. Users can add more capacity with external SAS/FC disk arrays, including the new StrongBox XpanDisk.

"Unlike any other storage system available in the market, the StrongBox NAS Generation 2 provides unparalleled value, delivering performance tuning to match users' requirements for online, nearline and archival storage all from one solution," said David Cerf, executive vice president of strategy and business development at Crossroads Systems. "Generation 2 provides more flexibility to scale from terabytes to petabytes. The latest StrongBox NAS platforms deliver online data access for users and applications while also allowing organizations to quickly maximize their ROI and re-task existing storage assets. Additionally, they allow us to expand StrongBox's addressable market size and attract new customers who need expanded online and nearline disk storage."

Key benefits include:

--  Best cost per GB for long-term data preservation
--  Tunable policy-driven data performance that optimizes ROI
--  Built-in data protection with no backup needed
--  Online data access for users and applications
--  Hot-swappable disks and drives for maximum uptime
    --  Energy efficiency
