AccuWeather Expands Support for Facebook's Internet.org App with Latin America Launch

Facebook's Internet.org app now provides AccuWeather information and forecasts to the Republic of Colombia

STATE COLLEGE, Pa., Jan. 14, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- AccuWeather, the global leader in weather information and digital media, is pleased to work with Internet.org, a Facebook-led initiative, as it makes a historic first launch in South America providing accessible and affordable internet services to the people of the Republic of Colombia. Free basic services through Facebook's Internet.org app will be available to Tigo Colombia customers.

As a key content partner, AccuWeather will provide innovative global weather forecasts and warnings with Superior Accuracy(TM) to benefit this audience.

Facebook's Internet.org app offers a wide array of AccuWeather information including the current conditions, 3-Day, Weekend, Hourly, and 45-Day Forecasts. The free app also includes satellite images, weather news, and hurricane and tropical storm information.

Internet.org, a Facebook-led initiative, has the goal of making affordable Internet access available to the two-thirds of the world who are not yet connected, bringing to everyone the same opportunities that the connected world has today.

Facebook's Internet.org app launched on July 31, 2014. The app is available to Airtel customers in Zambia and Kenya and to Tigo customers in Colombia and Tanzania.

Tigo Colombia subscribers can access the Internet.org app through the Google Play Store or by visiting http://www.internet.org on a mobile browser. The service works on smartphones and feature phones.
