Chuck E. Cheese's to Test Game-Based Learning Program in Select Stores

Adaptive learning program capitalizes on power of play and knowledge

IRVING, Texas, Oct. 27, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Chuck E. Cheese's, the place where a kid can be a kid, announced today that it will launch a test rollout of the game-based learning program, Brainrush Academy. Beginning October 27, guests at select Chuck E. Cheese's locations in the Los Angeles area will be able to sign up for one of two test programs featured in-store.

Brainrush Academy provides academics, entrepreneurship, arts and technology education, all through adaptive learning software that is used as a supplement to the classroom. Both parents and teachers have input into specific areas of focus for the child. Each program also features time out for gameplay at Chuck E. Cheese's to reward progress.

"The environment we foster at Chuck E. Cheese's is one where kids can enjoy unstructured time to play, explore and interact with others their own age," said Tom Leverton, chief executive officer, CEC Entertainment. "The Brainrush Academy programs will enhance and build upon that experience by offering games that challenge kids mentally and physically, while keeping the learning process fun."

Participants can choose to sign up for daily, weekly, or monthly installments of either program:

--  Playground: A program that prepares children ages 3 to 5 for
        kindergarten
--  Academy: An afterschool program for kids ages 5 through 12
Each program will be led by trained Brainrush Academy educators in the Showroom at each test location. Parents and educators can select a customizable learning plan with activities ranging from arts and music to robotics and more. There are even fitness and financial responsibility programs for both parents and kids to participate in and learn together.

"Chuck E. Cheese's is the ideal setting for our program, because kids are in charge of their experience," said Megan Lisa Jones, president and COO of Brainrush Academy. "We want kids to feel ownership when it comes to learning and playing. Both Brainrush Academy and Chuck E. Cheese's give students that opportunity in a world of strict schedules and regimented curriculum."

Brainrush Academy will be available free of charge for two weeks beginning October 27 at the Chuck E. Cheese's locations in Glendale, Thousand Oaks and West Hills, during which time parents will be able to bring their children in-store to test out the program. Brainrush Academy will officially launch November 10.
