EA Sports supports Columbia College video game challenge

COLUMBIA, Mo., Sept. 18, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Columbia College is pleased to announce that EA Sports will support the President's Inauguration Video Game Challenge. The challenge, part of Dr. Scott Dalrymple's Oct. 17 inauguration festivities, will now feature Madden NFL 15, which is the newest installment in EA Sports' iconic football game series, instead of Madden NFL 25. EA Sports also will provide copies of Madden NFL 15 for the college to use at the challenge.

"I would like to thank the folks at EA Sports for their generous gift," said Dr. Scott Dalrymple, president of Columbia College. "With this gift, EA Sports has helped level the playing field in this competition, as I had become quite a force in Madden 25. It will be interesting to see how students adjust their strategies to keep up with the audible we just called."

At the Oct. 17 challenge, students will compete against each other for a chance to face Dalrymple in the championship round. If a student is able to defeat Dalrymple, he will personally pay for an entire academic year's worth of textbooks.

The challenge is open to Columbia College's approximately 30,000 students across the country. For students enrolled in the college's Nationwide and Online programs, a social media trash talk contest will be held, with two winners travelling to Columbia, Missouri, free of charge, to take part in the competition.

Founded in 1851 in Columbia, Missouri, Columbia College has been helping students advance their lives through higher education for more than 160 years. As a private, nonprofit, liberal arts and sciences institution, the college takes pride in its small classes, experienced faculty and quality educational programs. With more than 30 Nationwide Campuses across the country, 18 of which are on military installations, students may enroll in day, evening or online classes. The college is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission and is a member of the North Central Association. Columbia College educates more than 30,000 students each year and has more than 84,000 alumni. For more information, visit http://www.ccis.edu.
