ASOCS joins Intel® Network Builders program, builds a Virtual Base Station

ROSH HAAYIN, Israel, September 18, 2014 /PRNewswire/ --

ASOCS Ltd, a pioneer in development of virtual Base Station
[http://www.asocstech.com/vBS.html ] (vBS) solution, today announced that it has joined the
IntelA(R) Network Builders
[http://cts.businesswire.com/ct/CT?id=smartlink&url=http%3A%2F%2Fnetworkbuilders.intel.com%2F&esheet=50797660&newsitemid=20140205005844&lan=en-US&anchor=Intel%C2%AE+Network+Builders&index=2&md5=14e325f187064ac2900f006f3c48b825 ]
program, designed to make it easier to
build, enhance and operate software-defined network (SDN) and network function
virtualization (NFV) based infrastructure. Intel established the program to spark
innovation, reduce development effort, advance open networking standards, increase
interoperability, and ultimately, reduce time to market.

ASOCS's vBS is a key to a successful implementation of an end-to-end NFV
solution, enabled by a vibrant ecosystem of startup companies as well as established
vendors.

The virtualization of a base station remains as one of the last bastions on
the road to a comprehensive end-to-end NFV solution for mobile network infrastructure.

Virtual Base-station requires a substantial set of open standards and
interfaces to other network functions such as the Evolved Packet Core (EPC) and Remote
Radio Units (RRU),that ASOCS with Intel and other partners is aiming to establish.

"ASOCS is proud to join the Intel Network Builders initiative to create a
healthy choice of vendors and solutions," said Victor Koretsky, Vice President of Business
Development at ASOCS, "ASOCS Solution is a perfect match with Intel vision of
virtualization and centralization of Wireless signal processing."

ASOCS' work together with other ecosystem partners lays the foundation of
taking the IntelA(R) Data Plane Development Kit (IntelA(R) DPDK) and Wind River Carrier
Class Communication Server to the extreme performance required for real-time mobile
communication signal processing. Based on extensive ASOCS background in Software-Defined
Radio (SDR), this task is key in building carrier-class future-proof communication
equipment based on commercial off-the-shelf servers.

"One of our goals in working with Intel Network Builders members, including
ASOCS, is to help bring innovative SDN and NFV services to market more quickly," said Renu
Navale, manager of the Intel Network Builders program. "Enabling these advanced networking
technologies on IntelA(R) architecture-based platforms will help service providers reduce
costs and deliver services to customers more quickly."

other countries.
