MBX Delivers New Turnkey Solutions for Digital Security Vendors

Simplifies Access Control & Video Surveillance Deployments with Fully Integrated, Built-to-Order Hardware/Software Systems

LIBERTYVILLE, Ill., Sept. 9, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- MBX Systems today announced an expansion of its turnkey hardware/software services for digital security vendors with the addition of access control platforms to its existing video surveillance offerings. Providers in both markets can now simplify deployment at end user sites by utilizing MBX to engineer, build, brand, inventory and ship custom servers pre-loaded and pre-tested with the vendor's software, configured to match the end customer's environment where required, and kitted with the required accessories - all at a significantly lower total cost of ownership than managing these tasks internally.

With nearly two decades of building hardware appliances for dozens of industries, MBX entered the video security and management systems market several years ago with customers such as point-of-sale video auditing pioneer Agilence, Inc. MBX designs and builds customized Agilence-branded systems, holds the finished base units in stock, and configures them on demand for each retail store, saving at least four hours of build time per unit over Agilence's previous strategy of handling each build in-house using off-the-shelf servers. MBX also drop-ships each order; packages it with a keyboard, mouse, monitor, cables, UPS and surge protectors; and manages returns and RMAs.

Now physical access control vendors can use the same MBX capabilities to deliver a fully integrated hardware/software package without assuming any integration, inventorying or shipping responsibilities and related costs. Vendors reap the benefits of:

--  A plug-and-play product offering that eliminates the need for end
customers to install, configure and fine-tune software setup on
        commercial hardware.
--  Optimized application performance achieved through MBX's ability to
customize hardware componentry to meet specific software operating
        requirements.
--  MBX partnerships with Tier One suppliers like HP, Seagate and Intel,
ensuring the use of top brand-name OEM chassis and components.
--  Final assembly for end customers who need different hard drives, video
cards or other variations based on their own technology infrastructure.
--  Speed to market with simultaneous imaging of up to 400 units and
warehousing of base units for custom configuration as orders are
        received.
--  Protection against component changes that can affect application
performance when using off-the-shelf servers because of compatibility
        issues.
--  'Solution in a box' packaging, with MBX sourcing, stocking and bundling
accessories such as cables and cameras in the shipping box to further
        simplify installation.
--  Global logistics, warranty and support, including RMA repair programs
performed in the US, EU and APAC with expedited cross-shipping.
All of these features help minimize technical support costs associated with helping customers deploy standalone software. They also provide significant cost advantages over internally managed hardware programs through savings on engineering, prototyping, testing, assembly, component sourcing, warehouse space, returns management, economies of scale, and more.

"Delivering a complete hardware/software package that doesn't require integration and testing at the end customer site can be a strong competitive advantage, but trying to manage a hardware program in-house is complex, time-consuming and expensive," said Jeff Luckett, MBX Director of Engineering. "Application developers that use our services avoid unnecessary hardware-related overhead while also leveraging MBX's engineering expertise to ensure the best out-of-the-box experience for their customers."

MBX will be showcasing its expanded capabilities for digital security vendors at Booth #4258 at the ASIS International conference that opens September 29 in Atlanta. To learn more and request a hardware review specific to your needs, visit http://www.mbx.com/digital-security-box/
