Major Organisations Adopt Latest Social Network Search Engine as Battle for Top IT Talent Intensifies

LONDON, August 27, 2014 /PRNewswire/ --

"Open Web" successfully rolled out in UK by The IT Job Board

Sainsbury's, Tata and Cognizant, are among the first organisations in the UK to adopt
The IT Job Board's Open Web social search engine as businesses both large and small
increasingly turn to social networks to source top tech talent.

Open Web is a new sourcing tool that tracks publicly available social data from the
world's leading 130 social sites. The data Open Web gathers is then enhanced with CV
sourced information from The IT Job Board's proprietary CV database.

    How Open Web Works

In practice, Open Web works by taking publicly available data from over 130 leading
social sites and mapping it alongside a range of criteria - skills, education, past
employers, peer ranking and professional engagement. Recruiters can then refine their
search by using multiple filters, including name, location, company, - and social
interaction. And as Open Web also provides candidates' publicly available contact details,
recruiters can then quickly and easily reach out to those with the most relevant profiles.

Alex Farrell, Managing Director of The IT Job Board, commented:

"Social search is very much 'made for' the IT industry as, in social media terms, tech
professionals are highly active and often participate in multiple forums - not just one or
two.

"And because Open Web uniquely aggregates and ranks data from a myriad of social
sources, it provides organisations with a depth of insight into potential candidates'
social and professional DNA.

"From our perspective, Open Web is helping humanise the online recruitment process by
allowing recruiters to engage far more meaningfully with the full spectrum of candidates
-active, actionable and passive. Open Web is taking the current ad hoc approach to social
search to the next level."

Tom Harper, talent acquisition lead at Tata Consultancy Services, added:

"For the first time, we are able to see candidates in the round from the get-go -
rather than through the single lens of a CV or search on a single social site. This
broader view is giving us a far better insight into the capabilities, passions, interests
and personalities of people before we even engage with them. It's a game-changer."

Currently over 450 organisations have incorporated Open Web into their ongoing
recruitment activity in the US, as well as leading organisations in the UK including
Sainsbury's, Cognizant and Tata. For further information on Open Web, go to
