Actiontec Introduces the Next Generation of Interactive Classrooms with Wireless Display Technology

-- New ScreenBeam Pro Education Edition helps educators bring curriculum to life and better engage students in the classroom

TAIPEI, June 3, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- COMPUTEX -- Actiontec Electronics( http://www.actiontec.com ) today announced the launch of ScreenBeam Pro Education Edition( http://www.actiontec.com/products/70.php ), a Miracast wireless display adapter that gives schools an affordable way to create engaging, interactive classrooms for the 21st century. The new receiver delivers all the performance and features of Actiontec's award-winning ScreenBeam platform, along with manageability and security that schools require.

The ScreenBeam Pro Education Edition receiver is a small wireless display adapter that connects to a projector, TV, or other display and lets users wirelessly share content from a compatible laptop, smartphone, or tablet. With the ability to easily share content, educators can supplement their traditional lectures with engaging multimedia like videos, apps, educational programming, and more.

Wireless display brings a new level of interactivity to today's classrooms. Teachers are free to move around the classroom and interact with their students, while simultaneously sharing content from their tablet on the big screen, drawing the entire class into the material. This interactive learning environment increases classroom participation, enabling teachers to work more closely with students.

"ScreenBeam Pro works seamlessly with Surface Pro 2 tablets. It gives teachers the flexibility to freely teach from anywhere in the classroom," said Tim Nykke, ICT & Director of e-Learning, Thomas More College, a secondary school in South Australia.

In addition, when students are equipped with laptops or tablets, they can even interact with the material on the big screen right from their desk. For example, a student can share her work on a math problem directly from her tablet, without having to get up and write on the whiteboard.

"Schools are looking for solutions to enrich the learning process, while simultaneously managing costs. The advantage of ScreenBeam Pro is that it can be implemented in an entire school in less than a day and costs significantly less than smart whiteboards and interactive projectors," said Dean Chang, president and CEO at Actiontec Electronics.

ScreenBeam Pro Education Edition is compatible with many of the devices used in the classroom, such as: Microsoft Windows 8+ devices (including Surface tablets), Windows 7 devices (using a ScreenBeam Pro transmitter, available separately), Android devices, Wi-Fi Miracast devices, and Intel WiDi laptops, tablets, and smartphones.

The ScreenBeam receiver can be configured and added into a classroom in minutes, while also providing IT departments control over securing and configuring the device to meet their school's unique needs. For example, the receiver will only display content from approved devices, so there's no risk of students sharing content from their own smartphones without teacher approval.

Pricing and Availability

ScreenBeam Pro Education Edition is available now through select retailers for USD $99 MSRP.
