PowerbyProxi Announces Advances In Resonant Wireless Charging Including First Multi-Device 7.5 Watts Resonant Charging System for Smartphones

Other new solutions include "z" height charging at 30mm and a charging bowl prototype for wearables and AA battery-powered devices

TAIPEI, Taiwan, June 2, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- COMPUTEX -- PowerbyProxi, developer of the world's most advanced and safest wireless power solutions, will demonstrate the next evolution of resonant wireless charging at Computex 2014 this week. A first for the industry is a 7.5W, highly resonant charging solution for thin-form devices, such as smartphones and phablets. The solution, which offers multi-device charging and full spatial freedom, is also expandable to power tablets up to 15W.

PowerbyProxi's integrated approach provides significant improvements over the 3.5 to 5W systems being offered today, by enabling high-speed wireless charging of multiple mobile devices. The system is designed to deliver up to 15W of power to a single tablet, or multiple smartphones and phablets. Ultimately this will be backwards compatible with the Wireless Power Consortium's (WPC) Qi standard and forward compatible to resonant v1.2.

"We continue to drive advances in wireless charging technology," said Greg Cross, CEO of PowerbyProxi. "Our contributions to the future specification of the Qi 1.2 standard, will enable better performance and more convenient solutions for consumers."

Z Height Charging at 30mm
For the first time, PowerbyProxi will also demo a wireless charging pad for mobile devices that enables vertical height charging of up to 30mm. This functioning z height distance will enable charging capabilities to be integrated into public locations like restaurants and hotels, as well as furniture and countertops. Charging can occur through materials including wood, plastic and composites along with the ability to charge multiple devices with full spatial freedom.

New Charging Bowl Expands 3D Charging Options
PowerbyProxi's new bowl transmitter with 3D charging technology has been designed to charge smaller, personal devices including wearables and devices using AA batteries.  Devices can be placed in any position or orientation, even on top of each other. The bowl, which measures 100mm in diameter, offers a sleek design for office or bedside and complements PowerbyProxi's larger "family" charging box, which can accommodate multiple larger devices such as gaming controllers, cameras or toys.

PowerbyProxi will be offering the preview of its new resonant charging technologies at booth A1013a, in Exhibition Hall 1 at the Taipei World Trade Center starting on June 3, 2014.  You can see a demo video from co-founder and CTO, Fady Mishriki, here.
