New Upgrade Service UpgradeMyXP.com Offers Solution For Millions Of Windows XP Users Left With No Support

KENT, Wash., April 7, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- A team of seasoned technology experts with more than 20 years of experience providing enterprise, small business and home PC users with hardware repair, data recovery, upgrades and support, today launched UpgradeMyXP.com, a simple and affordable solution for the more than 30 million Windows XP users who will lose XP security support from Microsoft beginning April 8. Without new patches or security updates, XP users will be subject to increased vulnerability to viruses, hackers, security breaches and software conflicts.

Based in Kent, Wash., UpgradeMyXP.com was the result of watching the pattern of their customers who have currently upgraded to either Windows 7 or Windows 8. They observed that the market place clearly preferred Windows 7 over 8, and since there are still nearly a half billion XP users in the world who need to upgrade, they believed it would be a good idea to come up with an attractive offer to let those users continue the serviceability and familiarity of their hardware at a great price. The affordable upgrade package is priced at $299 and allows both laptop and desktop machines running XP to migrate to the popular 64-bit Windows 7 so they can continue using their popular and familiar interface and still receive security updates, patches and support. XP users also receive up to 4 Gigs of RAM with the upgrade and can also add performance upgrades with new solid state hard drives priced according to capacity.

"Windows 7 runs legacy software so nearly all of their programs will work and the compatibility mode gives the user the same, familiar interface. We're also seeing improvements in system performance like boot-up times going from two minutes to 10-15 seconds," said Ryan McMichael the company's Chief Technology Officer. "With the UpgradeMyXP.com solution, XP users can also greatly extend the service life of their hardware system at a low cost."

The UpgradeMyXP.com process is simple. Customers make an upgrade reservation and the company sends them a pre-paid shipping box for sending their computer to the company facility in Kent, Wash. There the computer is backed up, receives the RAM and optional solid state hard drive. The new operating system is loaded and data restored. The machine is then shipped back to the owner ready to go.

According to NetMarketShare, the only operating system that's more popular than XP with 30 percent of the market is Windows 7 with 47 percent. The less popular Windows 8 has about 8 percent.

"The look and feel of Windows 8 and the unfamiliar user interface has not been well received by customers who continue to buy new laptops and desktop PCs that are still shipping with Windows 7," said McMichael. "It will be awhile before there are any support issues with Windows 7, since extended support will run until January of 2020."
