Experience The Exceptional Power And Clarity Of Sony Imaging Technology At ISC West

Sony Showcasing 4K and Advanced Imaging Technology for Security and Surveillance

LAS VEGAS, April 3, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- (ISC West 2014, Booth No. 11063) - Sony Electronics is building upon its legacy of superior image quality with the opening of its 2014 ISC West exhibit. The demonstration of the company's 4K imaging technology - a resolution that is four times greater than Full HD (1080p) - will start to redefine image clarity standards for the security industry. In addition, Sony is showcasing its highly advanced 360-degree camera, its X Series cameras for use onboard transportation vehicles, and the new E Series bullet cameras, which are the company's most light-sensitive infrared (IR) IP cameras to date.

"Sony is known across industries for image quality, and at this year's ISC West, we are showcasing our most advanced imaging technologies ever," said Kenichi Mori, director of marketing and product management for Sony Electronics' Security Systems Division. "Everything at the booth - from 4K resolution to our new IR cameras - reflects Sony's dedication to delivering superior image quality to the security and surveillance market."

Visitors to the Sony booth will be able to see demonstrations of:

--  4K Technology - 4K is the latest evolution in imaging technology. It is
a resolution four times higher than Full HD (1080p), which means it
provides much more detail and better clarity than what can be seen on
current HDTVs. For security professionals, this level of image detail
means that video can be magnified and examined down to the slightest
detail. In addition, 4K allows users to simultaneously monitor a large
area and a specific object with a single camera. Users can also more
effectively monitor entire scenes, as well as tiny movements in confined
spaces - such as exchanges at bank counters or gaming tables where
        attention to detail is important.

    --  360-Degree Camera - The SNC-HM662 is Sony's first 360-degree IP camera.
It features a five megapixel image sensor and a panomorph lens from
Immervision, which achieves about 30 percent higher resolution and much
better image sharpness at the edge of a frame than a traditional fisheye
lens. Where other 360-degree cameras perform image de-warping at the
camera level, Sony streams the entire image so users can dewarp and
manipulate the video. It is an ideal complement to any system, providing
improved situational awareness for large spaces, such as retail stores,
        offices, schools and parking lots.

--  Transportation Cameras - Sony's X Series of IP cameras are the company's
first to be rated for use on board buses and trains. They include
ultra-wide angle lenses that cover the tight spaces inside a bus or
train. All of the X Series cameras are vandal resistant, deliver full
1080p high definition video, utilize image stabilization technology, and
feature 90dB of wide dynamic range to help improve video quality in
changing lighting conditions. They also feature built-in SD card
support, which eliminates the need for video recorders onboard vehicles.
This is a critical consideration for anyone in the transportation
industry who needs to plan for emergency situations.
--  E Series IP Cameras - Sony has expanded its widely used E Series of
IPELA ENGINE(TM) EX IP cameras with two new infrared (IR) bullet
cameras. The SNC-EB632R and SNC-EB602R both feature Sony's Exmor® CMOS
sensors, which provide exceptional light sensitivity. They also combine
Sony's wide dynamic View-DR technology and built-in IR illuminators.
This helps identify close and distant objects and generates excellent
color video in brightly lit environments. Clear black and white video is
produced even in darkness as low as 0 lux.
In addition, Sony will be showcasing Cloud-based security solutions, retail solutions for loss prevention and business intelligence, and its unique hybrid security solutions that allow for the simultaneous streaming of analog and IP video over coaxial cables.

"Sony has been developing IP surveillance solutions that meet the requirements for various end user security applications, such as city surveillance, retail, education and transportation," said Mark Collett, general manager of Sony Electronics' Security Systems Division. "With high-quality imaging technologies and a well-planned product lineup, Sony has the right technology for any security project."
